Yes, we suck. Happy?

The game, however, does not. We apologize about the lack of updates. The truth is that there isn't a lot to update about. We're just bug squashing and polishing. We haven't added a single feature since early January and right now we are in closed beta.

We have about 50 people playing the game around the clock right now and things look great. The ONLY device we are getting crashes on is the iPod Touch 4th gen - It only has 256 megs of memory - this might not be a plausible device… (cause it runs retina with this shitty memory level) We are working on that.

Android is being converted to java for porting as well, but this is going slow. We are going to do our best to get everything out on day 1, but we will see. We are optimistic.

As for PC and Mac, after mobile launch its our primary platform. All additions (PC/MAC supporter's alien species, in-game characters), updates, changes, fixes, patches, new gameplay modes etc. It basically becomes the Star Command we always wanted. Mod support has been built in since October, so we should be in good shape to let you guys start changing the game once we release. Everyone will get their release as soon as we have a version ready (something very similar to mobile) and then we will move into optimizing that version and making it mouse and large desktop friendly.

As always, we appreciate your patience. We know you're all tired of waiting, but having heard feedback from our beta testers we are confident it will be worth the wait. Polish polish polish. That is our living goal.

Cheers for everything you guys have helped us accomplish,
The Warballoon Team

I didn't know about the first kickstarter for smart phones, but backed the PC version. Frankly, though, I would prefer to have the iPhone version (I don't really play games on the CPU anymore, but I play a ton on my phone). I hope there is a way for backers of the PC version to get a discounted version for the iPhone.

I only just recently got an I phone and judging from the selection of games I would say that the world needs a game of the caliber you are making for this platform. I may have paid into the PC version but I take any news that you are still working on it as good news. Timetables are a waste of time. When this game comes out on any platform it will be an exciting surprise, not something I was counting the days down to. As long as you guys make it awesome I'll be waiting patiently.

    3. Romu on February 26, 2013

don't mind waiting a bit more if that means the game is top notch.

Any kind of timetable would be nice even if it's inacurate tho.
Are we talking 3 months or 6 months ?
That's what i'd like to know, not your technical issues ;)

"Shaun about 15 hours ago Backer info Report spam
So this update means that we as PC backers obviously paid into the iOS/android project so you could finish it."

Yes of course- they are the same game. The PC/Mac versions are upgraded/optimized/more badassy version of the mobile game. It is impossible to separate the two.

The PC/Mac versions will be amazing due to your guys support- and also is a reality because of the original kickstarters. ie: We are all in this boat together - and don't worry the PC/MAC versions WILL be improved over the mobile.

    5. TacoWaffle on February 26, 2013

While I truly want to rage at what I feel was willful deception on the release date (You promised beta access in August 2012? You had to know at the time that wasn't going to happen.) it's only 'cause it looks so awesome and I still don't have it. Keep pluggin' away!

Take your time. I am a PC backer but I'm glad there will be an Android version too, as that gives me the unrealistic hope that there might one day be an Ouya version too and if not, there are some nice game friendly Android devices.

So this update means that we as PC backers obviously paid into the iOS/android project so you could finish it. Since you talk about it so much on here this means the PC backers that got misled are getting a mobile copy right? Oh, of course not.....

      "Yes, we suck. Happy?"

No. Not happy. Yes I think you suck.

    8. William Rhys Wortham on February 24, 2013

At least you're give us updates.....many haven't or give terrible ones. Also as long as you don't do the Duke Nukem matra of "when it's done" then I don't think too many people will mind.

Yeah, it's like fast food. You can get it fast or you can get it right. Not both. I'd rather have all my chicken fingers in a row than rush someone and have them get it wrong.

Or worse, find something icky on my fries. There's always something worse.

    10. ImpKeeper on February 23, 2013

i'm strongly hoping for steam :) i have all my games gathered there :)

plus i want my achivements XD... pllleeeeeeaaaaaasssseee remember to add achivements that can be seen on steam XD.. some gaming companys forget it and it really sucks to play a game a long time and noone can see how far you are XD

    11. Carlos Anon on February 23, 2013

Keep up the work war balloon. The game looks great and is a game that clearly people have been wanting for a long time wether they know it or not. How do you know this? By the angry/frustrated comments people are leaving because they don't have it now. Games take a long time to make and your team isn't hundreds of people, others seem to forget that.

I don't know, maybe a playable demo would keep them occupied until the game comes out officially.

I've waited years for games to be released, this is nothing, I can wait a little more.

    12. Alexspeed on February 23, 2013

I am not upset about the delay, but i am upset after reading this update and reading all stuff about Mobile devices and whatnot. I dont care for that, not one tiny bit.

I pleged for the PC Version, and thats what i want to hear about. After reading this update it sounds to me that the PC Version is just delayed because of mobile versions, and thats what is upsetting me to a certain degree.

    13. Galen Ryder on February 23, 2013

Ha, my current project is also crashing only on the iPod Touch (4th Gen). Damn Apple for being so cheap. Good to know we are in the same boat.

    14. Felix on February 23, 2013

If the game is in Beta and you are considering going the Minecraft model already, can you please release the beta for us to play and test out with you?

    15. icecreamjones on February 23, 2013

Rather a delayed game than a rushed game, as Miyamoto will tell you.

    16. Andy Gould on February 23, 2013

You don't suck. You're making a great looking game and you're not rushing it out before it's finished in order to fit somebody else's schedule. That's exactly what people who come to Kickstarter want!

      James B Davidson on February 23, 2013

Hey, you can stall as long as you need to, as long as it actually gets released at some point. Preferably sometime in this calender year. If I'm playing this game on Christmas day, I'll be happy, even if you didn't release it until literally the night before. I get that games take time.

I am glad to hear that your build is at least complete enough to have people playing it. That much at least instills some confidence.

    19. Spencer Ryan Barnes on February 23, 2013

For every Martin Kramer there's ten ThomasN's and Spencer's. We just don't talk much. We go focus on other projects and forget about our other backings. When there done they're done, and we got the adventure of poking in for your updates. We do start to notice the self defaming update titles so quit that :)

    20. Martin Kramer on February 22, 2013

So, basically no PC Star Command anytime soon. Whatever, I won't judge you on this and rage... but be advised, I'm disappointed.

    21. ThomasN on February 22, 2013

Then I will either anxiously waiting or condemning it. One of the two.

    22. Raufgar on February 22, 2013

Running past deadlines is a common occurrence, after all, you are travelling in uncharted territories here, it is fine that there be delays, especially since you are running the Beta testing right now. I would much rather have a polished game than a rushed one (KOTOR2, I'm looking at you.) Keep up the good work, guys at WB, your backers are right here waiting!

    23. Spencer Ryan Barnes on February 22, 2013

Its like you got it in your minds that you're upsetting us but you seem to be doing all the right things. I think your letting the vocal minority color your image of us, your backers.

    24. Spencer Ryan Barnes on February 22, 2013

"we suck, but the game does not". That was funny, but I disagree, you say you don't have much to report but this all seems like a fully fleshed out update.

    25. Star Command 2-time creator on February 22, 2013

Either steam or we will just go the minecraft method. One of the two.

    26. Niggles on February 22, 2013

      Thank you for the update.
This puts my mind at ease except for the question of how backers will receive their copies of the PC game.
Still nothing on the distribution method?

    27. Aerouge
      on February 22, 2013

Thanks for the update :) Still ANY information about the ETA and distribution channels you are going to use? I am currently unable to find you in Steam Greenlight and I know that it takes some time to get games through the process.

You are in beta and did not tell us on any releaseplans. Will it be Desura? Humble Store?

Also was I missing my chance to apply for the beta? Did I miss the update or wasnt there one? Or will you keep it closed beta till release?

I know you guys certainly have your heads deep in code and bugreports and whatnots, yet I REALLY would appreciate some information on your release plans and timetables.

I understand that writing this stuff takes precious time away from your actual "job" in makeing this game great. Yet I am sure sharing this kind of information will result in calming your fanbase and thus ultimately net you more time for doing it right :)

    28. David Shore on February 22, 2013

Who says you suck? Based on my experiences from other kickstarters, I would say you are running ahead of schedule. :-P

    29. K. Krezdorn on February 22, 2013

No problem with waiting yall...Just make a fun quality game.

    30. Ed H. on February 22, 2013

Ha! I was actually wearing my Star Command t-shirt this morning, which made me stop for a second and wonder how the game was coming along. Lo' and behold, an update!

True story, but seriously, no worries here. Looking forward to playing it when it's ready!

You got me since the Hairy Toilet Gameplay Trailer - who hasn't seen it its worth Googleing. You can be proud for keeping the coolness to put on two successful. Kickstarter Campaigns in a row. I haven't cared about any game as long as for your one within this Decade. If I could ask for some additions: please add a Duke Nukem Charakter and provide the backers with a "punch in the face" Video Update for being late. I mean we're your bitches and you've hurt our feelings, right?

    32. IronSpike on February 22, 2013

I don't think you suck at all, actually.

Things always take longer than we think they will. That's a fact in life. Honestly, I back Kickstarters with the assumption they'll blow their deadlines. I don't really care, so long as they produce. And you're clearly producing. Squash those bugs, we'll be here. It'll be done when it's done.

    33. Gilbert Palau on February 22, 2013

Why not release for the $25 dollar tier a beta of the game so we could test and help as well?

    34. Darkangel on February 22, 2013

Choosing between waiting and releasing a better game, or not waiting and releasing a worse game, i'd go with waiting. There's plenty of examples of how releasing buggy games promising to fix them afterwards killed companies. The long wait isnt' doing any good, but releasing something not ready will kill whatever goodwill warbaloon has left.

    35. Lifeless Loser on February 22, 2013

As long as you guys do consent updates for like a year I'm good with waiting.

    36. Kahuna Kevin on February 22, 2013

Don't care how long it takes, just get the PC/Mac ports done RIGHT.

    37. Lee Swain on February 22, 2013

Awesome! Really looking forward to playing it on my PC. I'll play some on my iPad when the game comes out but I probably wont give it some serious play time until the PC version hits.

Then get touch working for Windows devices! There are a lot of them now with the Ultrabooks and Surface Pro's. :)

    38. Pedasn on February 22, 2013

      i'm fine with it :D
