This seems like a dumb request. Can there be cybernetic implants? Like if someone loses an arm they can get a robot hand? I just really want my main engineer to have a visor. =p

I think I'm actually happy that it feels they are doing a huge release of all their platforms at once. I should be able to just rock out my PC/Mac version without the need of picking up one for my Android. I hopped on this kickstarter because I missed the mobile device one and just assumed the mobiles would have been out months before the desktops.

The game needs to be released. 'nuff said :)

A thing to add didn't see a blow up Antorain ship when we won the space battle? Hope/want to see them. Is there a holding room or jail cell maybe later for holding live antorain or others aliens with stun ray/gun?

    6. Rand Chua TL on October 15, 2012

So this week u guys would be busy fixing bugs, hoping next week you guys finish we are getting a new game play video? (Yes??)

nice. I like the concept of minigames, something to add a little skill to the game.
crewman skills should have some affect on the minigame though.. maybe?
One annoying thing I Saw was that it showed the gun firing just after each mini game.
that seems like an unnecessary 'screen joggle' if anything, I'd rather see what I just did to the enemy ship, to see what state it's in. Wing Commander had great in-ship and 'just landed' graphics of ship damage.
(I know the graphics here are not wing commander style) ;-P
is it possible for the defending AI to be just a little better? it looked like your crew stopped repelling boarders if he wasn't lined up just right. does the captain have to crew 'dumb idiots' or might it be possible to put a 'security' character into 'repel boarders' mode, so he will track down invaders. with the option to over-ride the AI to get at a more dangerous alien if need be?
well, that's about all. looks neat. are all the missions going to be like what was shown, or will you at one point be able to 'break out' into a semi-randomly generated universe?

The final crew asset sheet was NOT shown in this video. It was from a version in June. We have a new one with healing, repairing, working, idle, lots of deaths etc but there were some major league bugs with the heads popping up. Its probably another week til we get all those fixed so we decided to go with the old animation system just so you guys could see something.

We agree with 95% of your feedback and 80% of it has already been adressed. Things like shooting to fast, a bit of confusion with what your crew are actually doing etc have already been taken into account. The next video will be a much truer to what the final game will be like.

    9. Jason on October 15, 2012

obviously there's still work to do but i think it looks really good

    10. Eric Friesen on October 15, 2012

Going on what some other people are saying maybe the meta-question here is... it's unclear what the crew is doing. Perhaps some kind of bubble above their heads showing what they are doing would be a good addition.

Like a little foot icon if their primary goal is to go to a different room. If they are in a room, they have an icon showing that they are helping operate that room. If they are going around healing other crew members they have a little red cross logo thought bubble etc.

I like when it is awesome. It looks like it is coming along, and it looks like there are some things that could use some polish. So as far as I'm concerned take as long as you need, just make it awesome. There is so much promise in this idea you guys have, and it is different than ftl. The polish and fun of it will make or break this badboy. So take your time, listen to your gut and trust yourselves.

On top of Shane's question, I am also quite worried about the crews AI. In the video it seemed like some crew members weren't working, not shooting or healing specifically, and they didn't have any kind of AI to help with fighting or healing.

    13. Shane Cunningham on October 15, 2012

Look great. One question though - will crew members be standing around like that in the final release? Even in combat they just seem to stand around instead of looking busy at panels and pressing buttons at their stations. FTL has the little guys busily engaged at their stations... hope Star Command will too cause it's great for immersion.

Maybe redshirts should get a different color if they reach level 5 or something like that >_>

Do each of the races have special buffs/ debuffs?

I don't know if this was intentional or not, but I love that the color coded system matches Star Trek.

      Blue = sci/med
      Yellow = engineering

I know, yellow is security and red is command in modern Trek, but the analogy only worked this way. XD

      Love what I'm seeing!

This is one of those situations where I'm sad that I don't have this game to play yet, but I am very happy that they aren't rushing it and are working on polishing it up.

The level of communication that they are giving us with the various updates goes to show that they want to keep us all in the loop on how things are developing in a forward manner.

    21. Aniceto Ron on October 15, 2012

Wow that is amazing. I backed the PC version but I will definitely get the iOS version as well. Good job guys, its a game that we will all truly admire and love.

    22. David Tucker on October 15, 2012

Will there be anymore AI controlled characters? I feel like I don't mind giving my crew "general directions" as to where they should be. But once they are there they just stand there even if they don't have a clear shot?

Also why weren't the peaceful aliens running like crazy when shots were fired?

    23. Albert on October 15, 2012

I am disgusted! With the fact that this awesome game is not on my lap right now!!!

    24. Jason Truxal on October 15, 2012

      Nice. Cant wait!
Noticed the odd bug here and there. Like the Antorian that wouldn't die. But overall very good!
Also those green dudes just wander about in the middle of the fight lol

    35. Paul Marzagalli on October 15, 2012

This is a bit of a greedy question, but for at least our solar system, would it be possible to have space backgrounds that actually evoke where you are? It would be nice to see a view from Mercury or Saturn, etc.

    36. Rand Chua TL on October 15, 2012

Ok manage to watch it before going to sleep. Great work guys! now waiting for beta version or the full game.
