Season’s greetings Christmas Carma fans!

Welcome the Christmas 2013 update! YAY Boy have we got some stuff for you today – it’s like getting one big present and then being told you have more presents to come!

New concepts!

Firstly we have two new concepts to show you! First up, I present…the new Tashita!

I have to admit in the original he is one of my favourites (I have too many)! I really enjoy using Tashita’s oversize tool to shove under opponents and try to flip them hehe. I really can’t wait to see this in game. It was always a fun opponent, fast but satisfyingly easy to give a bloody good twatting! And we all love a huge twat!

And next up is… THE BEAR!

Phwoar!!! Some great detail work by Doug again. The concept is loosely based on an old style Russian Vulva Oops I mean Volga! I really like the front grill and the antennas coming from the top. Love how the barrels on the back make it look like a Russian tank too.

I like how he’s connected the scythe to replicate the functionality of Ivan’s original big swinging chopper – I imagined that was going to be a bit of a challenge to get right, but he nailed it (or rather cut through it like a scythe through a packed shopping mall).

New Wallpapers!

New concepts of course mean new Wallpapers! So the Wallpapers section has been updated and you can grab yourself a Tashita or Bear for your desktop.

Stainless Christmas 2013

So this year we were given probably the BEST EVER party there will ever be… EVER! It really was a truly spectacular event. Everything was organised by Zoe our Operations Manager and she did a fantastic job in surprising us all with the treats and surprises! We had: Carmageddon Cows pulling the Carmageddon Radical that was filled with our Secret Santa presents! A bouncy castle, a surf board rodeo, comedian Scott Charlton, and a special guest… Phil “Tuffers” Tufnell, out of The Jungle and Strickly Cum Dancing! We had an awards ceremony (in which I won “Most Unintelligible Foreign Accent” award haha!), lovely food and a free bar! What more could you ask for? …a sex doll? Giant dildos? Throwing a cow off a balcony? Buoyancy cocks? A dick saber maybe? Or even a penis poncho? Look no further it was all there! We would have invited ALL OF YOU TOO, but hey – let’s do that in Rio next year when Carmageddon: Reincarnation is a MASSIVE WORLDWIDE HIT!

And you can see more photo evidence in our photo gallery.

So a BIG thanks to Zoe – you did a wonderful job, of course we can’t forget to say a BIG thanks to Patrick & all of Management for allowing it all happen. Looking forward to next year!

Just going to leave this here to finish this section off nicely…

It’s Christmas “Guess Who?” Corner!

Just sneaking another piccy into this update… Last week we came across this cracking image of someone with a very close link to the original Carmageddon:

Can you guess who it is? Let us know your guesses in the comments below!

Promises

Hope you like my little collection of news and amuses, and don’t worry; we will be back straight after Christmas, so we can give you a special End of 2013 Update, to see you into 2014! So be sure to check back here before the New Year!

For now I’ll leave you with this special festive image concoction and song that nobby has made for you all. It’s a sweet nativity scene, and we hope you’ll gather around an open fire with the family on Christmas morning and all sing this little Carma Crimbo song (to the tune of “Away in a Manger” lol).

Hope you all have a splat-tastic Christmas and I will see you again before the year’s out!

Looks good! i would like to see ingame renders of these cars :) can't wait. and guys have a little faith and patience, i'm sure the game eventually comes out one way or the other. Maybe in the next update you can show us some renders or concepts of the ingame pedestrians :) keep up the good work.

How is the game-engine going? i just remember the physics of GTAIV and V "Euphoria Engine", i hope u guys have developed something like this for the pedestrian physics :D

I have to echo many of the other kickstarters concerns here, while I can appreciate you guys need a little rec time, this really does look over the top, especially when you have die hard fans that have shelled out their own hard earned money to get this dream going again. Surely you can understand people's annoyance at getting very little evidence that the game is going anywhere. We can understand if you need more time to make it what it needs to be, but it's time to give the kickstarters and other fans some REAL evidence that true progress has been made. We have an arbitrary early access date of Q1 2014 with very little to see at what development point it's at, and no indication of an official release date. a lot of the posts lack real substance in terms of showing progress and the christmas pictures you have posted have only served to hammer in people's concerns that their money is being used for less than productive ends. I sincerely hope that you are able to give us something real to help recover our faith in you and this franchise.

Was my pledge for parties and random juvenile crap only? It's really not what I signed for. Glad you're having fun but when I have to show progress reports to my boss, I don't show him pictures of me humping coworkers or getting drunk with my paycheck money.

Seriously it's getting past the time where it's "funny" (never really was but whatever) and getting on the very annoying side.

Every new update on here annoys me more than the previous one. (remember the DLC joke?)
We're 1.5 year past the Kickstarter campaign. That the game had additional funding is no excuse to make us 'happy' with concepts. It's about all we've seen this year.
Seriously, is that all you have after a year? We were promised other things.
Added to that, these kind of 'parties' you're throwing does make it look even worse.
I am positive towards surprises and showing things when they are in a certain state. But this is really taking a long time. Exactly what has been said below: concept art? pre-production? really? I'm getting really disappointed.

    9. phobos2077 on

I don't want to be rude or something, BUT.. are we going to see some actual progress on the game? All I see from updates of the last year is some joking from the devs, almost NO screenshots, gameplay footage or ANYTHING. Just some concept art.. at this point the game should be at nearly playable state. The "beta" was meant to be released in feb 2013 originally...

My point is, I'm more interested in actual development progress updates. What game mechanics are complete, what is left to do, etc. Please?

Here's a pretty good idea that just struck me, you could perhaps introduce a special button that does something for each car's "weapon" or whatever they have.

For these cars it could be for example; Tashita's front "lift" actually is able to lift up cars a little so that you can push them into walls easier. "The Bears" scythe would start swinging very fast for 2-3 secs. Screwie Lewie's drill would start spinning very fast for 2-3 secs for even more damage etc. Those sports cars without any noticeable weapons at exposal could get some nitro boost (runs out of it after a little while to make it fair) etc.

Doug's concepts are just amazing as usual, he's making them pretty perfect all the time. Glad that you have him on the team!

I can see where Mekon is going, you do put yourself in an unfavorable position a little showing lots of your race days, crazy parties etc. About the schedule, I never even expected them to be able to stick to their first time schedule, that just seemed soooooo unrealistic. That they got a little over their goal funding too also made it possible to further expand the game and make something even more big of it.

Since we're still only seeing car concepts I'd personally estimate we won't see anything close to the full game before end of 2014 at the very earliest, Beta maybe around October possibly.

re: the guess who - it looks like an older version of Tony Taylor (aka Max Damage) from the Carmageddon HUD prat cam: http://static1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090226133828/carmageddon/images/b/b4/FrankStill.gif

Guess Who, my honest very first reaction was Walter White (Breaking Bad) :). After more thought, I have no idea who that is.

Mekon, yeah kinda disappointing, but keep in mind we are the minor investors. Not saying that makes it all cool, but it's a fact we have to face.

This has been one of the most infuriating Kickstarters I have participated in, to be honest. Well overdue (10 months so far), very little in terms of progress updates (I'm sorry, but concept art is pre-production stuff), and lots of non-production puerile fluff. Race car days, Christmas parties... good to see you're putting our money to some use. Would have preferred it be on the game, mind you. Distinctly unimpressed.

Perhaps they saved up all the concept art from months ago and are slowly releasing them for us to enjoy rather than see them all at once. This way they keep our interest.

The Bear looks even cooler, i look forward to seeing the cars as models ingame..! hopefully they'll be very accurate to the concept versions, it would be a shame to miss out on all the sweet details..!

Guys, BEAR looks more like ZAZ-968 http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/18/ZAZ-968_front.jpg than Volga, or even Lada.

I came here for comments like yours, was not disappointed.

I too, was hoping for maybe a couple of videos, or some actual gameplay; it's been due for some time now. That animated GIF was not what I expected...

    29. schnide on

How about you stop making babyish jokes and show us some of the game instead of some static paintings? You should be WELL past the concept stage right now (just like you should be past jokes about willies, FFS).
