HALFWAY-HAY-HAY!! AGAIN! :)

Hi there Kickstarter buddies! And Welcome to the halfway point of our Carmageddon: Reincarnation Campaign! Yes, we've been running for 14 days, we have15 days left, and we're now over THREE QUARTERS of our way to the target.

We had an amazing boost today with another backer signing up to HANG ON TO YER HELMET, and taking on the role as one of the Drivers in the game. Fame and legendary status awaits, and a lifetime of being stopped by people shouting, "WOW! You're HIM out of CARMAGEDDON!!!", possibly leading to actual worship by some future culture, a couple of years after the apocalypse.

We're all deeply envious, a feeling that will only be suppressed once we've seen him hurled through the windshield of his very cool car a few times... and getting impaled on a spiky fence... a rusty one.*

So, back to business... We've been listening to you guys, and discussing what more we can do to show how much your support means to us, and how we take your comments seriously. We want you to see that we will be making changes and reacting to your input, throughout the course of the project, starting as early as we possibly can - like NOW! So, tomorrow we'll be making some more changes to the Rewards tiers, adding some new Rewards (we removed a couple of duffers today), and generally spicing up the whole caboodle for everyone.

We'll also have a video Update for you tomorrow, with EVEN MORE important NEWS!

But for now, I'm signing off with another great big "THANK YOU KICKSTARTER FRIENDS!!!" from the team here at Stainless. You're amazing, your support is awesome, and we're heading for a FANTASTIC second half of our Campaign. We have lots of cool stuff still to share, starting tomorrow!

* All this will only happen to our backer once they've been immortalized inside the game. Not in real life, honest. We don't need to do the spiky fence thing for real and film it for reference purposes. I'm sure we don't. No way. Wait, what's that Sim..? We DO need to do this for real and film it for reference purposes? Are you sure? Ah. Okay. Well, let's just keep that between ourselves, okay?

Oh. Oops.

"We recoil slightly from the idea of ranged weapons (heh, see what I did there?). Un-aimed is okay, but we don't really want to stray too far from the Carma ethos of "The CAR is your weapon".
The things attached to the car WILL do what they ought to do to the soft things they encounter along the way."

this is one of the most sensible thing I've heard for a long while. ranged weapons would mean I wouldn't need to build up a ridiculous speed in order to trash another player in some mentalist t-bone style, and to be honest, that's probably one of the most fun things about the original. Well thought...

Just signed up for $15.00. cannot wait!

Rather Stainless said they will consider a console release depending on how far they excede the $400k.

@Alexander Wilson: We have a chicken/egg situation here. Stainless will make a console version if they excede their target of $400k. But you wont pledge any more than a few $1's unless they promise to do that.
So its up to you and anyone else who wants a console version to plesdge more money and you will have a much greater chance of getting a console version.

Glenn I think one reason for the mystery is that the game is developed by the same guys that coded and created the original. It has not been taken over by one of the large companies, this is a good reason why to back because they know what the fans want. Stainless also has experience with the Magic the Gathering console games released. I know they are working hard and when they reach their goal they can go full whack and release the game. I live in the same area as Stainless Games and they are very hard working and professionally recognised ! The only reason I have not backed more than a few dollars is because Stainless have not guaranteed a console version of Reincarnation.

Carmageddon and Doom are the reasons I became game developer. It's so great to see the team pickup what was great with Carmageddon and reboot. I was recently able at Casual Connect talk to the original producer of Carma 1. Man what a good chat about the game. Love it. :-)

And I sooo hope I get a Mac version of Carma:Incarnation.

This is going great! Over 3/4 and still creeping up toward the 4k with ease! :) Really looking forward to some footage/news

I concur the difference with a lot of other successful projects that already has a one year dev cycle passed that they have something to show. For now the game is to much in a mystery.

What others also tend to do is a breakdown of what the money will be used, I see a lot of KS projects do that. On a lot of forums I've read remarks that 700k (and that is without the part of amazon) is on the low ball for a game like this. So a breakdown may pull those people over.

Don't take this as harsh criticism but is my own take on why some kickstarter projects fly and others don't. People are more visceral kinda of animals so having something meaningfull to show is important. Also after DNF debacle people are more critical against rebooting old series it seems , so it is a lot more work to convince them.

Man, I've played so many hours at carmageddon 1 and 2 when I was a kid something like 15 years ago. I remember we installed it on the computers at school, pretending to do our homework during midday such a great time!!! And look where I am now I'm an indie game developer now and I still haven't killed anyone on the real road ;D Well done guys I'm so excited about this, I'll call my old friends and I'll try to get more backers !!!

    16. Hubert Vale on May 22, 2012

Yes, we're getting closer! I just hope like hell that C3 is nothing like Postal 3. I downloaded it and can confidently say they ruined the franchise with P3. Just make sure you keep the open world, avoid mission-based play, and all will be well.

I think Nobby has been watching too much of The Running Man. Richard Dawson would approve. Must be what he watched the other night instead of Transformers 96 - even more explosions.

The footnote makes me think of a movie:
      Hero: Is that absolutely necessary?
      Hero's minion: Ara aya ugh.
      Hero: What did he say?
Hero's minion's translator: He says yeah, he's afraid it is.
