Carmageddon: Reincarnation Goes GOLD!

Hey there Kickstarter Backer buddies!

Today’s the day that Carmageddon: Reincarnation goes GOLD, and gets its full release on Steam! That’s right, the stabilisers have been unbolted, the Early Access banner has been taken down, and everyone is getting ready for the smell of burning rubber, spilled gasoline and exploding peds to drift across Bleak City!

To get you into the mood for some pedestrian harvesting we’ve released a new launch video:

If you’ve not already claimed your copy of the game, make sure you head on over to the Humble Order Resender and enter your Kickstarter email - https://www.humblebundle.com/resender. You should receive an email from them with details on how to access your Humble download page with all your digital goodies on. If you have any trouble with this process, please send us a message.

It’s been a long journey since we launched the Kickstarter campaign back in May 2012 and you joined us on the ride. We’re so grateful for your support – without it we wouldn’t be here with a brand new Carmageddon set to pollute the minds of a new generation!

We’ll be back soon with an update on the progress towards fulfilling our remaining physical reward tiers. Keep an eye out for that in the near future!

Thanks again for backing us, and hang onto yer helmet!

What about the physical rewards? I backed 150$ !!!

I would like to echo oddword games' sentiment. This is the first thing I ever backed on Kickstarter and have still not received my physical rewards. I don't even want the game anymore, I just want the physical rewards I paid $150 for over 3 years ago. I too will never again back anything.

    3. oddworm games on

Dear Stainless. Seriously, it is about time for an update on the physical rewards. I gave you 150$ three years ago, and all I got so far is a game that performs rather poorly on my high-spec gaming laptop. This was the first Kickstarter project I've ever backed, I am pretty disappointed with the outcome, and most likely will refrain from ever backing anything again on this platform. Also, in the game's credits my name (oddworm games) doesn't show up in the backers list. With the physical rewards you could at least partially redeem yourself, but utter silence on the topic is in no way acceptable. Below I'm asked to be "respectful and polite". May I ask the same of you?

      Physical rewards update, maybe? Thanks.

@NaN: check your email (and spam folder), you should have gotten a link to redeem your codes on humblebundle.com. Or log into humblebundle.com, and check your account, look for unredeemed codes, or have them resend it.

Maybe its time to finally send physical rewards to people? Still waiting. Never EVER will I back anything from you again.

Waiting for my GOG key... When I backed there was no indication that DRM-free was an afterthought. Can't say I'm terribly happy with the result of my backing of this project. inXile and Obsidian were both able to deliver a DRM-free version on GOG simultaneously with their Steam release on their games. They both delivered their games a lot sooner too. I don't mean to be rude, but this has all been terribly disappointing...

@Stainless "If you have any trouble with this process, please send us a message."

I sent my message, no response yet. There's nothing on my Humble library page for Carmageddon and nothing on the resender list either. (I had this on another campaign as well). As I said in my message, I'd prefer Gog.com instead, but if the DRM free version is tied to Humble so be it. Please respond to my message so I can get the game downloaded. Thanks.

Wow! This is one damn fun game and I am one happy backer. Thanks and congrats Stainless for releasing!

      Where is Mac OS release?
Maybe you think we backed for Mac OS and linux version just for lulz?

I'm waiting for the DRM-free version (preferably on GOG), but I noticed that on my Humble page in the section that lists what my pledge includes, it says "Steam key: VIP DLC" and "Steam key: Red Eagle Car Model". I don't like the idea of backer exclusive in-game content, but since it's already decided, can you confirm that it will be available for the DRM-free version, too?

    13. Carl De Brabant on

Even on the lowest settings at 720p I'm getting massive loading times, which wouldn't be so bad if it werent for the 2 second hang times whenever a new texture or effect needs to load (or even reload) during gameplay.

In the curent state the game is unplayable for me.

    14. Valeriy on

      1) No Linux == Not Interested
      2) DRM == Not Interested

      1+2 = not a release for me...

    15. dulBIRAKAN on

I echo William's comment. Congrats on the Windows release. Where is the Linux release?

    16. William Koontz on

Congrats on the release, but why is Steam showing this as a Windows-only title? I backed it for Linux support.

    17. ThomasN on

      Noice!
Now get this on GOG so the DRM free crowd can play with the DRM liking crowd via Galaxy.

    18. tarasis on

Oh yeah, and congrats on going live and released!

I had a lot of fun with what I played with the EA. Sad a few things didn't make it (like the head cams) but maybe as you expand it they will make it back.

    19. tarasis on

That was a fabulous trailer. Pure, unadulterated insanity :)

I did not get a key from Humble Bundle. It seems like there are some of us with this problem. Yes I used the same email that I used for kickstarter.

I refer you to my comment on update 21:
      `` Willi on June 6, 2012
I was holding back, because I *needed* to be sure of Linux support. This sealed the deal for me. Thanks Stainless, you rock!! ´´

So, how about it Stainless? Can we *please* get an update on this? Honestly, at this point, even admitting that you won't ever support other platforms is better than your total silence on the matter... :(

    26. David Hogg on

... never mind. Just checking things through Kickstarter for some reason I entered a different email to the usual and have now got my key

Congratulations on going Gold!! I am glad I backed this project as it has been developed in a timely manner. In an age of "early access games" who never even reach a beta, it is a nice to see a company follow through with promises. Thank you!

    36. Stainless Games Creator on

@Ziv Kitaro We pledged that we would release Mac and Linux versions of the game and these are still planned. Keep an eye on Kickstarter for future news about this.

    37. Ziv Kitaro on

So beta was not on Mac. Annoying but ok. Now we're in release. No Mac version.
It's really shitty to write these messages. Really really upsetting to be pet of those people. But we supported you, and not because of altruism. You said a mac version will happen once we strike a milestone. We did.
      Depressing.

I'm grateful to see another Carmageddon game that I enjoyed when I was 8 years old. Not sure if it makes you happy that I was a kid playing Carmageddon Splat pack. But I like to think I came out fine as a young man. Thank You for making a grate game. Only complaint I have is I wish you could still earned money to invest on better parts for your car and not have them locked behind progression wall.
