INTRODUCING ERVA - A fridge mounted herb drying rack.
I love to cook. It's a pastime for some, but a passion for myself. And I feel the best way to add layers of flavor and complexity to any dish is with fresh herbs. But let's be real, they can be expensive and the quantity awkward. Why waste time and money with throwing away excess herbs when you can dry them right in your kitchen for later use?
That's the inspiration for ERVA and why we feel it is a valuable piece of household design for any home cook.
The ERVA Small gives a lot of drying space in a sweet little package.
ERVA medium is postcard sized, with a portrait orientation.
ERVA large is for people who seriously love herbs. A large surface area allows for many herbs to be dried at once.
Solid Red Oak boards are CNC milled to size and the edges are routed to a 1/8 in diameter. The base-boards are sanded smooth and either sealed with tung oil or left unfinished allowing for customization.
The finished boards are then hand-strung within elastic paracord and Neodymium magnets inlaid into the back of the board, providing a strong connection to your fridge.

This has been the design phase of ERVA. Researching, prototyping, and reaching out to producers.
February 2019 - March 2019
The Kickstarter Campaign will run for a full 30 days.
March 2019 - May 2019
Once the campaign ends, production will begin.
May 2019 - June 2019
At this point, the ERVA racks will be made and shipping will start.
The end of fulfillment to the ERVA Herb Drying Rack.
Hello there! If you are reading this that means I've grabbed your attention enough for you to read the entire campaign. First of all, thank you for taking the time.
Secondly, I like to tell you a little bit about myself.
Hey, I'm Phil!
I am a fourth-year Industrial Design student at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Over the course of my four years, I have consistently found myself gravitating to the design that makes life simple. Lo-tech seems to give a negative perception to objects, however, I count agree less with that. Lo-tech is simple living. It's easy; It's clean; It's how real people live. That's my two cents, anyway.
Risks and challenges
As with any project, ERVA doesn't come without challenges. It is a goal to keep production small, working with small-scale manufacturers. While we believe in this type of production, it can mean things take a little longer than expected. We are working directly with several small-scale manufacturers from around the country.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
