Let's Play: MURDER is a twisted mix of Victorian "Memento Mori" melodrama, modern comic ultra-violence and old fashioned non-PC fun; all cunningly disguised as a children's Nursery School book.
Read on as Rosé and Fred take you on an educational journey of carnage and mayhem across 26 alphabetical artworks. Fans of The Gashlycrumb Tinies, Itchy & Scratchy and late night trawls through Adult Swim will find something to love in between these pages.
Hi, we're Matt and Chris and we claim responsibility for this idea. Matt is a writer in London's frenetic advertising industry and Chris is an illustrator with a talent for making adorable characters. We've worked together professionally but have always wanted to collaborate on a personal project. Seeing as we love entertaining and shocking people in equal measure, this seemed like the perfect opportunity.
We also enlisted the help of our little friend from Berlin, Momo, to produce a legit hand-drawn font for the book.
The story is done and the illustrations are finished, all we need to do is make it real. We're working with an independent printing company who specialises in the arts and creative printing. This will ensure that we create a quality product that you can love (or be freaked out by) for years to come.
The book is 7" x 7" and contains 26 double-page artworks lovingly screen printed on lightly textured 190gsm paper. Thanks to our amazing backers it will now be a hardback edition and feature a limited-edition dust jacket! We're also making little media packs to go into every book if we hit our final stretch goal target!
Thanks for looking at our KickStarter! We hope you get involved with us to make this a reality, and if you know someone who would love this please send them a link so they can have a macabre giggle with us.
Big love also goes out to Chris and Orlando at Dead Canary Books for all their help and advice.
Risks and challenges
We have the time and the printers have the ink, so we're not expecting anything to give us any trouble with production. The only thing that could take some time is working with our printers to make sure the book looks as amazing as it possibly can be, which is why we've set a release date for the end of May. If the stars align and we're done sooner, you'll get the goods earlier.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
