The Accordion Babes Pin-Up Calendar is the world's first sexy calendar that also comes with a CD. We are redefining sexiness by putting out both a fun collection of sexy accordion photos, and a compilation CD which gives people the chance to hear the artists' music.
The 2018 Edition is number nine in the series. All the music and photos are collected and we are almost ready to go to print. What we need now are pre-orders and shares on social media to get the printing press rolling for the Accordion Babes. Art from the calendar is both viewable and audible on the project video. Previous years' calendars can be viewed on our website accordionpinupcalendar.com.
To help inspire more generous donations and in order to make this year's Kickstarter release special, there is a very fun array of rewards offered by the Accordion Babes. We have donated albums from our bands, cookbooks and T-shirts and a made-to-order hand-embroidered accordion Western shirt. Three of us are offering live shows. People who live in or around Portland, Oregon, Cleveland, Ohio, or Hamburg, Germany can reserve a great indie Accordion Babe act for their upcoming events in exchange for their Kickstarter pledge. Accordion and music businesses can even consider a sponsorship... many of our customers are accordion players and the calendars get seen by many folks all year round so it's a great return on a modest amount of advertising money... plus it really helps us out! Four 16mm x 16mm ad spaces are available on the album credits page for sponsors to show their support. Friends and fans who can only give a little can get an Accordion Babes postcard. Friends and family who can give a little more can get a signed copy and a mention in the Thank You section of the calendar.
The print order has already been laid out with Pirate's Press, a company which mostly prints LPs and CDs for bands... who are very well-suited to print our calendars which are exactly the size of an LP record jacket. They are already set up to print our CD too because that is what they do very well already. It takes a little while for the calendars to be printed and shipped, though we are going to print in October the expected release date in the US and Europe is in the month of December. The cost of shipping out rewards is of course included in the budget specs. We are looking into ordering new eco-friendly cardboard mailers too.
Risks and challenges
The hardest parts of the project are curating the artwork, organizing the information, and getting enough pre-orders for the print-run. If our Kickstarter campaign is successful then the hardest portion of the project is behind us.
Shipping in time for the winter holidays is the biggest time-crunch of the project once it's funded. We'll be working on getting our shipping database organized early while the calendars are still at press; that way we'll be prepared for the holiday-time mail crunch.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
