Last year I attempted to hike the entire 2,175 mile-long Appalachian Trail and shoot a film about my adventures. While the film, "Flip Flop Flippin' - One man's search for character(s) on the A.T." was shot and completed (squatchfilms.com) I only ended up doing half of the trail due to a peroneal tendon injury and relatively poor flip-flopping time considerations (something I thought my college degree would help me with but apparently didn't). However, the joy I experienced out there along with the kind, wonderful and strange folk I met along the way, coupled with the desire to finish the trail, has led me back here to Kickstarter to try and get funding for another summer of shooting, hiking and interviewing. The money, like last year, would go towards food, gas, some lodging, SD cards for my HD camera and any additional gear I may end up having to replace along the way (although my core gear of tent, backpack and sleeping bag are holding strong!). Also, like last year, I plan to bounce around the trail in order to maximize the number of encounters with hikers...southbound sometimes, northbound others. I have 8 chunks o' trail between Daleville, VA and Jo Mary Rd., Maine to do in order to complete the entire trail. The goal is to start in late May and finish sometime in early October. Like "Flip Flop Flippin'", as well as my Pacific Crest Trail films, I'd like the focus of the film to be about the wide spectrum of folks who partake of the long-distance hiking experience. Thanks for your time.
