Keep Sprout growing and help us put food on the table! By successfully raising $2500, we will cover food costs for Sprout dinners in the spring, summer and fall of 2011. This keeps funds going directly to our presenting artists. We source our food from local farms and purveyors, so your donation supports both local artists and the local food producers.
Sprout is a locally sourced community dinner that funds emerging Seattle artists with a vote. Participants get a locally sourced meal and a ballot to vote on artist project proposals. The artist with the most votes receives the funds collected at the door. The artist returns to the next Sprout to show the progress of the project.
Sprout grew from and is part of a larger network of micro granting projects that are occurring all through the nation from NYC (F.E.A.S.T.) to Phoenix (Sunday Soup Phoenixville). Sprout was inspired by the response of other cities to the drastic funding cuts to artists and saw it as a means to bring community together to cherish, support and fund the work of local emerging artists.
Sprout directly supports emerging artists and contributes to the sustainability of the local arts landscape by making small funds available to artists to complete projects that other wise would not be possible. This simple idea has already created big impact across the US and right here in Seattle. Sprout has funded 3 artist projects, granted $2200 and served dinners to two sold-out houses. To help Sprout keep growing, we need your help today.
Sprout is operated solely by volunteers and funded by small, individual contributions from people like you. And of course, eat well and fund often!
