No, our mission when designing the Spressa Mezzo was to insure that the AeroPress was not modified in any way and nothing attaches directly to it. As you may have seen the our video, the Mezzo has a lever that provides both mechanical advantage making the 'press' easier and more ergonomic. It also provides a convenient home for the AeroPress and its tools.
Good question! It doesn't matter how the AeroPress is used. Simply place the body of the AeroPress on the Mezzo base and follow your normal 'recipe'. When done, lift the AeroPress up, slide the mug, cup or pitcher under and then place it on top and then you will be ready to press.
In the near future we will be creating videos that show various uses and methods of the
AeroPress used with the Spressa Mezzo.
We've tested numerous types of drink-ware, including cups, mugs, pitchers, tumblers, etc. The optimal height is 3" to 5" and any opening size that the AeroPress will fit into. If the cup is too short, under 3" the body of the AeroPress will not contact the edge of the stabilizer. If the cup is too tall it will be difficult to engage the handle into the plunger of the AeroPress.
