The Spooky Cats Tarot
These cute spooky cards feature Jack-o'-Lanterns, ghosts, pumpkin patches, fancy dress costumes, and things that go bump in the night. Brightly colored like our Kiddy Katz Tarot, the Spooky Cats celebrates Halloween from a child's perspective. We think this deck will bring back treasured memories of trick or treating from childhood days.
Cards will be 2.75" x 4.75" inches in size, and 300gsm quality.
This is a work in progress deck, so there may be some edits along the way before it is released.
The creation of these brightly coloured cards have been carefully overseen by co partner Christine Aguiar who has spent over 30 years studying and reading Tarot, Sibilla oracle cards, Lenormand, and other divination systems, as well as being an avid collector of art decks.
As an artist I certainly have an advantage in having a co creator who is both a collector and reader that I can consult with in the creation of the cards, and every serious collector wants something exclusive; something, well, collectible. That's where our ten extra exclusive cards come in! Throughout this campaign I will be creating all new cards that will ONLY be available to backers.
EXCLUSIVE TO KICKSTARTER
This Kickstarter version of the Spooky Cats Tarot will have
* An exclusive back to the cards
* 10 extra cards exclusive to this campaign only
While the Spooky Cats is a deck in progress, I will be working on the deck daily and will update frequently on new art for the deck right here on the campaign page.
The Kiddy Katz Tarot
This is our first in a series of cartoon style cat decks that's designed to not only bring a smile to your face, but also deliver great readings no matter what the question may be. Taking inspiration from the popular Waite Smith Tarot, each card features adorable little cats, each with their own personalities. Because the cards stay reasonably faithful to the Waite Smith imagery, they will be easy to read for those who are already familiar with that system, but will also be a great beginner deck for those starting out on their Tarot journey.
The great thing about the Kiddy Katz deck is that when used in public readings, they will always help to bring a smile to a client's face even if the information conveyed in the reading may not be the best of news. We really feel that clients will look forward to receiving readings at festivals, in the office, or online through video conferencing like Skype or Facebook live with these visually friendly and charming cards.
Cards will be 2.75" x 4.75" inches in size, and 300gsm quality, and will come with an exclusive card back for this campaign.
EXCLUSIVE TO KICKSTARTER
* Exclusive card back to this edition of the Kiddy Katz Tarot
* Some cards will be changed if or when we ever produce a 2nd printing. Only backers of this deck in our campaign will be guaranteed all the cards shown here.
* Includes one mystery card exclusive to the campaign
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am an artist from Ireland with a background in Illustration. I enjoy illustrating by hand using traditional pens and pencils. I have a great passion for creative projects where I can draw in my own style and share my ideas in the creative process.
HAND DRAWN ART
All of our Kiddy Katz cards are drawn by hand in a very child friendly, optimistic style over the course of spring and summer 2017. With over 20 years drawing experience, each Kiddy Kat has its own unique "voice" and personality, as told through facial expressions and interactions with their surroundings. The artwork is suitable for the most delicate of Tarot questions, while fully able to answer darker questions too.
As independent artists who do not have the mass marketing power of major card publishing companies, our audience is naturally quite a bit smaller, and therefore, as you can imagine, sales are limited too. Crowdfunding is a great way of bringing awareness to smaller printings of independent decks to the people that love them; Those who enjoy unique collectible art decks.
Your generous contributions not only help us with the printing of the decks themselves, they also help us recoup some of the expenses incurred throughout the creation of our hand drawn decks, from art materials to promotion, research, and distribution. You allow us to keep creating collectible, very limited edition card decks.
If we can get to £4000, this will allow us the extra funds to purchase and ship out a Tarot pouch for everyone over the £71 level (The “Cat’s Meow” and the “Whole Litter” tier). We figure that if you love both our decks, you’re a serious collector and will appreciate one of our Spooky Cats pouches for your cards. These two levels will also receive a signed and numbered card. Below is an example of one of our bag designs we created during this campaign.
You Can Trust Us To Deliver Your Perks
We recognise that as a backer, backing a campaign requires a certain level of trust, which is why I feel it's important to point out that we already have the experience of processing hundreds of orders over the past few years, to countries from all over the world, through sales from our website. We also had a very successful campaign over at Indiegogo last year with Twisted Tarot Tales, where we were funded over 124% and have received great compliments and feedback on the deck. All rewards were delivered without any problem. While it's true that this is our very first Kickstarter campaign, I am more than confident that all will go very well. We always strive to make our customers happy and we look forward to bringing you your perk rewards in a timely manner.
Unlike many other Tarot related campaigns, our campaign reward levels include shipping factored into the price. We feel that this makes it more convenient for you when you want to contribute. Like us, we believe that most people prefer to know the total cost up front without any shocking shipping charges.
How We Do It
We set the price between the least amount of postage we have to pay (UK,Europe etc) and the highest (Australia, New Zealand etc) . Since most of our customers generally come from the U.S and Canada, we're at a slight disadvantage here in the UK, and so our shipping charges generally veer towards the high side, rather than the low. Rather than charging, let's say, Australia, 3-4 times more of a shipping price than the UK, we do our best to find the right balance for a more fair shipping price for everyone, regardless of which country you are from.
Over the years we've delivered decks to destinations all over the world and so we feel that we'll be able to deliver decks no matter where you're from. On the event of some strange unforeseen reason why we are unable to ship to your country (it's never happened to us before) we will gladly refund your contribution.
As a way of keeping shipping costs down, our decks will ship directly from the printer.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you love what we’ve done with the deck, but can’t contribute and still want to help there is one thing you can do that is almost as important as contributing; sharing the work. Remember friends, “Sharing is caring”. Sharing and word of mouth is the lifeblood of brick and mortar business and self employed artists everywhere. It may only seem like a small two seconds of your time, but for us it is of immense value. Using the share tools on Kickstarter is a great way of sharing the campaign on Facebook, Twitter, and all the other various social media sites.
Risks and challenges
As mentioned earlier, our first campaign was on Indiegogo and was 124% successfully funded. Everything went really well with that campaign, and all perks were successfully delivered.
Since we've decided on going with a Print on Demand printer this time, the only challenge I can think of is that of finishing the artwork for Spooky Cats Tarot, but I cannot see any foreseeable problem.
The Spooky Cats Tarot is now about 80 percent complete, and is being worked on daily. We will continue to keep you updated on our progress via the updates section of the page.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
