I'd like more info on the reason for suspension...
@Andrel forgot to mention the aluminium body and speaker, two big reasons I backed this, its uniqueness. All it takes is someone to spot a look alike and report them and they get shut down. And I was so looking forward to getting this one, which would have been the crown jewel of my collection.
suspended? what exactly happened here? anybody willing to explain?
@William Dutcher I did the same thing and there are hundreds. Not one that combines the CNC body, speaker and not one offers iPhone and Android Apps and so I would not say anything close yet alone 'Identical'. These guys got the wrong end of the stick here and Kickstarter is notorious for suspending campaigns simply because the same image appears on some Chinese site. Who are we kidding, the Chinese look for ideas on theses sites and quickly hijack a project's IP in minutes then dish some junk out to the world. Hope these guys relaunch and deliver and show they are for real.
Did a search using "programmable fidget spinner" got a number on hits, ebay has simular spinners for $9. Add a ceramic bearing and it could be identical.
Not surprised, lots of companies making spinners out there. Besides copycats, there are a number of campaigns trying to turn Kickstarter into another reseller site like Ebay.
This seemed legit. What's going on?
Who's work they were stealing?
@citiboi Spinneroo is offered in Blue, Silver AND...BLACK. Cheers,
Thanks for the prompt response. Good enough answer as far as I an concerned. Oh.. the black iteration will not be offered? I really like the black version. Have too many silver spinners.
@Hiram G Wells Missed that one. Dude. Well said. Cheers,
@citiboi Thanks for the comment. The battery is model LP302530 and you can change it. It would cost about $7. It has a lifecycle of 500 charges at 100% so a very long life.
Text can be in one colour at a time. Red, Green or Blue. We are looking into the ability of creating different colours in the same text statement, one letter at a time but this will not be in the initial release of the Apps.
Patterns can be in combination of colours in RGB.
It is not easy to film a Spinner with lights as the camera either goes out of focus or the frame rate and spinner RPM create a conflict and so playing with the environment lightning to get the video shot renders unpredictable results. The LEDs are bright that we are considering a dimmer slider in the APP.
Think of something else, let us know and thanks again.
I have a few questions :
1. Is the battery user replaceable? If not, can you please confirm the expected lifespan of the battery in terms of no. of cycles?
2. Are the text messages displayed only in red? Can the user change the color of the text messages?
3. The display looks rather washed out in the video. Will opting for RGB improve the colors to make them more vivid and vibrant?
"Keep Calm Spin on"
@Zachariah Brown we have discussed an API vs. a pattern editor in the App which would allow you to bring in bitmap images in and convert to light patterns and also allows you to assemble light patterns in a free-hand formation on a provided grid. While we are still considering both, we feel the editor would allow non-debs to have a fair go. Stay tuned and thanks for the support. Please share. Cheers,
As a software dev I would be very interested in a published API so that I could take full control of the pattern/text as it spins -- do you plan on offering a public API?
, 'Do or do not, there is no try.'
@Scott We will ship on or before November 10th with all perks to backers in November depending on location. All shipping with tracking, Australia, US about 5 days. Europe about 8 days, India, Middle East about 2 weeks and most of Asia about 10 days. Spinneroo will retail for AUD $119. Thanks for the support and please share the campaign.
So now that the spinner is successful when exactly does shipping begin and also if you don't buy it on here how much would it be to buy it elsewhere if you have to just wondering
@William Dutcher Many thanks for the comment. Great ideas. maybe will make desk space for you here on the team in Sydney. OK. Time and date is already there. The rest are not but your comment made us think of how we can have the spinner post from 'Reminders' 'Notes' or possibly push notifications. The way we designed and engineered Spinneroo is cleaver, if I may say so myself, so we can always make modifications in the App that would be implemented in the Spinner when the User updates the App. The sky's the limit. Thanks again.
These are the things I would like to see in the 2nd generation spinner.
- Time and date display.
- Appointment reminders with alarm.
- Shopping list.
- Things to do list.
My point is: when these devices start or providing some useful feedback information, they will become more then just toy spinners. That's the dawn on a new generation of spinners.
Yeah I agree with you on the junk Spinners because I mean there are different Spinners to get let's face it and the one that you're offering is different because it's well it's more than the spinner it's like a light show that you can take with you you know what your phone so that's kind of cool you know and there are spinners out there there are cheap of course and you can buy them and they do that I have about 70 Spinners right now to be honest and that's a lot but I actually hang them up for decoration believe or not even though I'm bipolar and agoraphobic I keep them as decoration because they look cool you know and they draw attention I guess when you come in my house we will look at them and like wow that's weird so it's definite an intention grabber
I did purchase a blue one cuz a blue one looks really cool
you go dudes :) 2.0+ it is.
@Scott, thank you for the support and the comments. Both Will and I have been burnt on this platform on several occasions but we've also had our perks delivered as promised. We do agree that it is a hit and miss platform and you never know and yes there is a risk that one has to take and weigh and hence we appreciate your comments.
We have worked very hard to get to this point with this project and this projects represents the first of several upcoming projects that we have on our plate. Spinneroo will happen and flawlessly to set the stage for us moving forward with the slated and upcoming projects.
FYI-We are both iOS and Android developers and that is how we pay the bills but we've done a few innovative projects for clients and decided to slowly venture into unique high-quality gadgets.
We somewhat disagree with you that spinners are on the way out. Somewhat. We feel instead that the players in the spinners business are mostly on their way out and the serious ones will soon have to offer a lot more to the consumer considering the number of crazy options and worthless junk out there. We call it Spinners 2.0 and we consider Spinneroo to be at 2.0 or at the bleeding edge of the next generation of Spinners. This will force the junk, copycats and the same-old... out of this space and open a new channel for more creativity and new ideas that would challenge the status quo and exceed expectation.
With Spinneroo we strive to strike a balance between innovation, quality and price and deliver value and we strongly believe that every backer here is owed their perk and a debt of gratitude for making this happen as a founding supporter of our endeavour. We will deliver on time. We are confident, determined and we promise.
Again, thanks for the support and please share with everyone and let's make it happen. Cheers, Al
I just saw the back this product and I said I wouldn't back another product on these sites because usually they never come anyway but hopefully this one will be delivered before November
Any reason why I did back this proud of his because it's a very unique spinner would use the phone app which I like a lot to be honest no I don't like phone ass but this one is got my entry plus I like the way the spinner looks and I like the way it just spins Spinners to be honest or on their way out because there's like thousands of these things being made and that you can buy them starting at like 5 bucks
that's be honest but this one is a little more money obviously because you're getting a high-quality product you can tell so the thing about I have problems with these companies is that they promised one thing they message you in the beginning and keep going and then when it finally gets close to the end and they get your money then they shut their mouth and you never hear from me again until you bug them so hopefully that won't happen...
Looks like a great product guys. Fascinating combo of features!
I've just backed for 2 early birds and will spread the word to other super backers. I'm sure you'll surpass your goal.
I have some questions but will ask them in the FAQ area, so that others can easily find the answers too.
Just got my second spam from you guys, despite my message here. Hope for you and your backers that you design better products than emailing lists. Could you please remove me for good?
@Alessandro Nice observation. Yes it is a prototype and it is ABS. We did 3 colours in aluminium. Red, silver and blue. The red we might do as a stretch goal. All final versions will be in Aluminium like the blue and silver shown. Shiny anodised aluminium. Thanks for the support. Please share. Cheers,
The black Spinneroo seems to be different from the others (I'm talking about the central piece).
Its shape is different (different carving) and seems to be made of plastic.
Is it just a prototype, or is it going to be different?
How are Spinneroo going to look at the end? Are you considering a redesign?
I'd love to get a full shiny metal one with the black version as well.
I'm excited to receive my Spinneroo!
"❤️ I Love You ❤️"
@3DSTB Yes you can as long as the early bird perks remain available. many have done so. Pick a colour when you pledge then go to 'Manage my pledge' and add the amount for the second. You will select the second colour in the survey. Cheers,
Can I add 55 $ AUD to the super early bird to get 2?
@Bert your email was subscribed to our initial announcement of Spinneroo on June 27th at 15:13 AEST. If it wasn't you that subscribed the accept our apologies but we take this matter seriously. Cheers
I will never back a project from a SPAM. As a side note you should read : https://www.kickstarter.com/trust Thanks in advance to delete my email address from your emailing database.
@Marcel Mudrich Good idea and will consider. Cheers
@youlian, @Bob Weston Cheers,
Hi what about rgb led as option or stretch goal?
