Open Beta - Build Update
Greetings Backers, Collectors and Demon Smashers,
It's Monday in Shanghai, but at least it stopped raining. Today, I'm bringing you news about the campaign, a game update and an additional tier/add-on. Who says Mondays are all bad?
The Campaign. Reaching towards $70k on our way to the $200k goal and things are looking good! For those of you concerned about our ability to achieve the final goal, a couple of things to keep in mind. Middle of campaigns tend to be slow, so we'll see a natural increase in support around the end. More importantly, this week Valve announces the next round of games selected for Steam through Project Greenlight. With Akaneiro currently sitting at #3 it's pretty much certain we'll be in the announcement - which will result in a HUGE flood of interest from Steam users. Assuming we're selected, we'll also push to publish the game on Steam by January 24th, which will result in even more exposure for the campaign. Still, you can do you part by blogging, Facebook-ing, tweeting and streaking around your neighborhood naked while screaming, "Akaneiro!!"
The Game. The team is about to drop a big update on the servers. Expect it within the next few hours. It contains a long list of fixes based on feedback from Open Beta testers like you. Expect to see these issues addressed:
• We fixed the full screen bug • Press "M" and "Esc" will enter Full screen • Add a bug report button for client version in Game options • Add game exit confirm popup • Area 5 Level art update • Some collision fixes for all mission maps • Consumables updated (Food descriptions and effects) • Pepper cost change • Ability tuning • Reduce overall loot drops • Increase chance of higher quality loot drops • Chance for bosses to drop more loot • Update Area unlock pricing • Less karma for Transmuting items • Update player HP curve • General bug fixing
Last but not least, an additional tier and add-on. The new add-on is a hard-copy "Art of Akaneiro" book to be produced in the US. We're in talks with Dark Horse about this project - but have found an alternate means of getting it done if Dark Horse aren't able to participate on this one. (Fingers crossed for Dark Horse though, we really like working with them!) For the new limited availability tier, I've got some *tiny* mini-mate Alice toys which were produced in limited quantities for San Diego Comic Con. Picture below.
From Shanghai with Love,
