Kelp Caviar - What is it?
Kelp caviar is a seaweed based caviar, that is 100% Natural and 100% Vegetarian and contains 0 calories. Kelp Caviar is environmentally friendly as it is manufactured using only seaweed which is available in abundance in our oceans and grows at a rate of two feet per day. The production of Kelp Caviar does not contribute to the depletion of fish stock nor does it depend on the fishing industry. Kelp Caviar is both health conscience, environmentally friendly and sustainable.
Kelp Caviar - Why we need your involvment?
Kelp Caviar is manufactured using the same techniques as used in molecular cuisine. The process of manufacturing is very much hands on and limited to small batch productions...that is until now! We, at Kelp Caviar, have developed a new piece of equipment that will allow us to go from producing 200 kg to 5000 kg per week. Imagine how much the fish population willl thank you.
Kelp Caviar is very much in demand by the food industry and the public in many parts of the United States, but due to limited production capacities we can only select our clients at this time. With your financial assistance we will be able to get our equipment built and increase product availability and by default Kelp caviar will be protecting the environment one step further.
Where will the money go?
As mentioned above the manufacturing process is very much hands on, and no machine in the world exists to produce this type of product. We at Kelp Caviar engineered a piece of equipment that will automate the production of the "pearls" which are then flavored and officially becomes KELP CAVIAR.
$6,000 will go to build and install the "extruder" by a local equipment manufacturer.
$8,000 will go to purchase and install semi automated filling and packaging equipment.
$4,000 will be used to source our raw materials in larger quantities to drive our costs down and bring the overall selling price down as well.
Kelp Caviar - How it's Made?
Kelp Caviar is made using the same ideas and concepts as one can find in a molecular gastronomy kitchen, but on a massive and industrial scale. The basis is the same; any product containing calcium coming in contact with alginate (the compound found on algae leafs) will coagulate or as known in molecular gastronomy and will undergo the process of spherification.
Once the beads are produced we can give it any flavor profile imaginable and any color under the rainbow. only after the beads have receieved their flavour do we call it KelpCaviar. For those interested; companies, retailers, distributors, we definitely do CONTRACT MANUFACTURING and PRIVATE LABELS.

Risks and challenges
As is the case with any small business, we anticipate hurdles along the course of our expansion project. While we can plan for some of these potential hurdles, others will be unexpected. The Kelp Caviar team has been involved in different industries in the past and have wide knowledge in many fields; always finding creative ways to resolve most issues.
Some specific challenges we can anticipate in the begining is not having the proper production ouput from our new equiment as it will require fine tunning and getting to know it better .
Another challenge we will face is fluctuation in the cost of ingrediensts. We use primarey kelp from brown seaweed and is currently in high demand around the world and finding a cheaper source will be tough, but doable.
We are currently sourcing different options for ingredients and suppliers across the United States and Canada to keep the production process as local as logically possible.
