Detroit GreenDome Meets Soup at Spaulding Kickstarter Goal!

Travis doesn't have internet access and of course, we've both been so busy that we haven't had a moment to sit down in front of my laptop until yesterday. It was his first time seeing the video Jon from Soup at Spaulding put together for the project. Travis was visibly excited. We're both pretty pleased with how this has all gone down. Here's where we're at right now: The Greendome/Spaulding Court kickstarter project has hit its goal and will be funded on Saturday, August 28th! Now, the weekly Soup at Spaulding event is typically designed for projects that require a little less funding than the GreenDome, but the event organizers were nice and let the GreenDome play anyway. This is the reason for the easily matched $197 goal. Of course, we're striving to take it to $2K so that both projects walk away with a grand, which is what the GreenDome requires to begin fabrication. So, even though we've met the Soup at Spaulding goal, we're still plugging away to get the GreenDome frame built in September.
In addition to frantically spreading the GreenDome across the internets, we've been connecting with many grassroots agricultural and technological innovators here in Detroit. See, we're not just building a dome. A huge part of this project is assisting Travis to expand his current garden into the vacant city-owned lot next door and to do so in a way that will be sustainable and efficient. Working with and testing out permaculture and other "off the map" designs/theories is key. More soon...

In the meantime, check, pledge and share the Detroit Greendome Project on kickstarter! Thank You!
