Dead Synchronicity: Tomorrow Comes Today

Fictiorama Studios was formed by three brothers fascinated by point and click adventures since they were teenagers. When a cool artist joins the Fictiorama crew… they're ready to go full steam ahead to make their first game: Dead Synchronicity: Tomorrow comes Today. Dead Synchronicity is a 2D, dark point and click adventure game that pays homage to classic adventures (The Secret of Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Day of the Tentacle...) but revolves around a more mature theme, along the lines of games such as I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream or Sanitarium. If you want to give it a try… there is a demo available in their campaign!

In Dead Synchronicity: TCT you are going to find space time distortions, concentration camps, gruesome pandemics… in the shape of a point and click adventure game that features a distinctive 2D style, an atmospheric soundtrack; as well as an "open approach", similar to that featured in the adventures of the 90's. Kodama

Here comes a game that we can't understand how is not fiercely mega-backed by everyone out there. Kodama features frame-by-frame animations just like Candle's, and is a 2D hand painted, physics based Platformer set in Japans Genroku Period. Kodama tells the story of a tree spirit who finds his mountain forest in danger. With all the other Yokai (spirits, demons & ghosts) hiding in fear, Kodama is sent on a journey by the Sun Goddess Amaterasu to discover the cause of the danger and put an end to it.

The game takes place deep within the world of Japanese mythology, creatures of all shapes, sizes and purposes will be strewn throughout the areas. Since Kodama is unable to fight he must either use the environment against his enemies, or preferably avoid them altogether.

With Shinto beliefs at its core, Kodama will present you with many situations which, whilst not puzzles or platforming sections, really help to solidify the experience. An example of this would be being able to wash Kodamas hands before entering a temple. Moments like these aren't required to progress, they will be entirely optional minigame like moments, created for people who want to get the full experience from the game & leave no stone unturned.

Edgar Allan Poe illustrated "Ravings of love & death"

David G. Forés is an amazing illustrator from Spain that has been madly illustrating Edgar Allan Poe over the last two years for an app, iPoe Collection. As fan of paper books and comics, he wanted to publish his drawing in a special edition for all Poe lovers and now he has launched his dream, Ravings of love & death, on Kickstarter:

Ravings of love & death is the poetic title of an multi-sensorial anthology dedicated to Edgar Allan Poe lovers, gathering the most significant love and death stories of the writer. Meticulously illustrated by David G. Forés and designed by Carlos Ruiz, this is a publication where text, images and an original soundtrack immerse you into its story.

This amazing book will be published in two languages, English and Spanish, in a special and limited edition just available through Kickstarter. They offer really tempting rewards such as David Sketchbook or the macabre vinyl with the original soundtrack. For the pledger that wants a truly one-of-a- kind experience, there is also a supernatural experience with the aim of meeting Edgar Allan Poe's spirit!

This would be a massive, neverending update if we had to support every other campaign out there, but we just though that we could quickly share some other projects with you, although they are less related to Candle than the other 3.

  • Red Goddess

The story revolves around a troubled goddess named Divine. Her mind has become clouded and ill, and Divine is haunted by her past. A mysterious and unknown corruption is tearing her apart from the inside, destroying her mind, her soul, and eventually her, altogether.

Our journey begins when Divine decides to right this wrong by stepping inside of her own consciousness, a planet within her own mind covered in mountains, forests, caves, and untold dangers. Discovering who she is, who she was, and what she'll become is our quest, but we soon realize that there’s more to this than we thought.

  • Hex Heroes

From a fellow Wii U developer here comes a very interesting game: a unique RTS created to be played through WiiU's gamepad that features asymmetric multiplayer. Hex Heroes is a multiplayer real time strategy game for Wii U where up to 4 players share the TV harvesting resources, building structures, fending off enemies, and exploring dangerous territories. Another player uses the gamepad to manage resources and teammates, make executive decisions, and survey the land from a bird’s eye view.

Developed in Unity, Hex Heroes first began as a contender in a local game jam in the Summer of 2013. During the jam, the creators were able to develop what is seen in the video, and while it was only a tiny slice of what they want to eventually deliver, they felt we were able to convey the idea of a party/real time strategy game.       I backed Dead Synchronicity. After playing the demo, I was hooked on the story. I'll have to check out these other projects, too.
