Remember the Space Quest series from Sierra's duo the Two Guys From Andromeda? Well they are back & making a brand new SpaceVenture™!
10,809 backers pledged $539,767 to help bring this project to life.

June 1st quick update! Psst.. A demo is coming soon!

You guys may recall that we'll be posting an update on the 1st and the 16th of each month. I cannot promise they will all be massive updates, or that Scott and Mark will show content every single time, but you'll get some good info from each one :) So here is your June 1st update.

PROJECT STATUS

We are in the process of taking a small portion of the game and putting it into a demo for everyone to check out. This demo should arrive in your hands soon! You will get a chance to experience some of the game play of SpaceVenture, without too much spoiler in there. We are trying to produce the demo on the PC and Mac(possibly Linux if time permits).

Mark Crowe has absolutely out done himself on each scene for SpaceVenture. I'm honestly blown away at how cool everything is looking. I will be posting some of this amazing artwork soon. Don't want to spoil everything. You'll also get to see some of this artwork in the upcoming demo!

Scott Murphy has written some hilarious dialog that you'll get to taste test in the upcoming demo as well! We recently brought on Troels Pleimert(also known as the Space Quest Historian) to be Scott's intern and resident coffee bringer.

Chris Pope has been busy pulling the whip out when anyone gets out of line!

Ok, and along with promotions, running the business side of the company, he's writing these updates as well ;)

Ken Allen is still hard at work on the music and SFX for SpaceVenture. Everything for the demo is almost complete on his end as well!

VOTING ON CONCEPT ART AND DEATH SEQUENCES

This is gonna be happening in one of the upcoming updates as well, be on the look out!

GOG CREDITS ($50 and above backers only)

Emails have already been sent out. PLEASE NOTE: The email was in regards to filling out a form. The form allowed you to make a choice involving your GoG credits. If you didn't receive that email, please check your spam folder first, if it’s not there, then message us here on Kickstarter so we can verify you are at the $50 or above level.

CHAT SESSION WITH SCOTT AND MARK

For those of you at a high enough reward level(includes those that chose this instead of GoG credits) to receive access to chat with Scott and Mark will be happy to know that there will be another one scheduled for June 6th. Watch our Twitter/Facebook or kickstarter comments section for an exact time! The chat session will happen at svrewards.com, so make sure you are a high enough backer, and have an account to do this. If you can't log on to svrewards.com, please email pcj AT andromedanpost DOT com. I’m also planning to do a live podcast with Mark and Scott soon. Anyone and everyone can be a part of it!

FAQ

When will our rewards be shipped?

Answer: As soon as the game is complete, we’ll be shipping rewards out.

My address has changed and I need to update it with you guys. How do I do that?

Answer: Don’t worry about giving us your updated address right now. When we get ready to ship the items, we are gonna request you all to give us your updated address so we will all be in sync. No point in getting that as of now, because some of you may move between now and then.

Which conventions will you guys be at?

Answer: The Two guys Mark Crowe, Scott Murphy, and the SpacePope Chris Pope will all three be at SDCC 2013(San Diego) and possibly GMX 2013(Nashville). We were all hoping to be at PAX Seattle as well, but that may not happen. Chris Pope will be at Ancient City Comicon(Jacksonville) as well.

You guys sure have been going to a lot of conventions. Shouldn’t you be making a game?

Answer: Actually Chris Pope is the one that has been going to conventions, and that has been on his own dime, not the company’s. Mark and Scott have only been to one convention so far and that was GMX 2012. GMX paid for the entire thing.

Do you love us backers?

Answer: We love you more than Orats love chasing Sarien Spider Droids! We love you more than Labion Terror Beasts love Cubix Rubes! We love you more than Fester Blatz loves ear wax! We love you more than Sequel Police love dressing in black! We love you more than... oh you get the picture!

The game will for sure be out on Linux. The demo will as well, if we can swing it in time. If push comes to shove, the Linux demo may not be out at exactly the same time as the PC and Mac versions, but we're trying. Have patience, and stay positive! :)

Okay, the comments "linux demo if time permits" makes one nervous. I one specifically paid for a Linux version. Its rather important that those of us who want it running on our Linux machines don't feel left out in the cold. I am with S.D. on the distribution challens and Humble Bundle/Humble Store are a good ones for Linux guys. I've heard Desura is okay too. Anyway, just want to make those of us who are expecting Linux versions actually get them in the end. Looking forward to it.

$150 and up SpaceVenture backers(along with people that selected this reward from the GoG form) can take part in a chat room discussion with Mark Crowe and Scott Murphy on June 6, 2013. This will happen on the SVRewards.com website chat room at 1pm PST / 4pm EST. If you can't logon to svrewards, please email pcj@andromedanpost.com. Time Zone conversion here: http://bit.ly/18JueL9

Great news, guys! In terms of digital distribution channels I care about, first is Desura (where nearly all of my games are), and second is the Humble Store (same as the Humble Bundle guys, but they also sell individual games with the prices set by the dev; they take a 5% cut).

Please Linux, please Linux, pleaseLinux, pleaseLinuxpleaselinuxplease... :-D

@jfrisby: I'm STILL waiting on Cognition to make it and they've been trying to get Greenlit for months.

    9. Two Guys From Andromeda Creator on

@OddBall SpaceVenture will be on every platform we can get it on, including Steam. We'll try and greenlight it eventually.

Awesome news!!! And congrats to Troels, if anyone deserves this... It's him... *Healthy Jealousy on my end nonetheless :D*

Great update! Does that mean Troels is deep in the south US? Funny to imagine that...
Hope you guys refer to the demo as an "alpha/beta" demo, or something like that... or else you'll have people misunderstanding it all over the place (again).

@OddBall: Seems like a Greenlight campaign would get a little more momentum if they launched it along with the demo, or closer to release... It's been weird watching some pretty significant projects struggle on there...

Ooh, a lot of Orat-on-a-stick to chew on! Let's see...
First off, a big congrats to Troels for becoming Scott's slave!
Secondly, looking forward to playing the demo.
Finally, I hope that the chat session is at a time that I can make it.

    13. OddBall on

Good news, I know I may have the wrath of the anti-DRM crowd but why is SpaceVenture not on Steam Greenlight, you could be missing out on potential sales if you don't give it a go.

    14. Two Guys From Andromeda Creator on

Yes this demo will be available to all backers. Future beta testing will only be available to backers $30 and up, as mentioned in the rewards.

    15. Frogacuda on

Is the demo going to be available to all backers?

Woo, chat session June 6th :D
