»Star Waves« is a tabletop card game that sends you on an awesome journey through space, which requires basic resource management, strategy and dice luck.
Beat your opponent in completing a wild series of Quests and establish yourself as the most famous bounty hunter in the solar system.
Use Credits to play Action Cards when you're in a dire situation and need a little extra luck. Spend Fuel when discovering Locations. You may exchange them or discard Action Cards for resources at the end of your turn, so make sure to plan ahead!
The game is portable, quick to set up and takes less than 5 minutes to learn. Whip it out whenever you feel like exploring locations across the universe and experiencing all sorts of amazing and mischievous events along the way. Buckle up and find your destiny—or demise!
Choose a Quest Card. Each player gains their Starting Resources.
Discover a new Location every turn. Then, roll a dice to find great treasure—or total disaster. You never know what you encounter next and how it will play out.
At the beginning of your turn, draw an Action Card.
Play them to sabotage your opponents, or accelerate your own progress.
Win the game by completing all Quests, such as recovering Artifacts or earning Credits.
On the 19th of April, Solo Mode has been added as a Social Pledge Stretch Goal! It was the most requested feature by far, long before the campaign started, and after appropriate testing of existing prototypes and verifying the mode was meaningful, it was added to the game. While Star Waves was conceived as a multiplayer game and unleashes it's full potential when facing one or two opponents, Solo Mode offers a whole new layer of play styles! Some restrictions had to be made for this to work, please read below.
Instead of beginning the game with a limited amount of resources, you start with a larger but fixed amount of resources and Action Cards.
Shuffle a a certain amount of Location Cards (for example 15, depending on your Quest Card). And put them on the table. Master all events and survive until the end without depleting your resources or falling below a certain treshold.
Some cards don't work in Solo Mode and are excluded before the game begins. These are mostly cards that feature elements that heavily rely on interaction between players. (For example swapping cards with your opponents, or depleting their resources.)

► Location Cards
There are 6 different types of Locations. When discovering Regular Locations, roll dice to produce an outcome from either 3 or 4 options. Artifact Locations require you to master a sequence of dice rolls and reward all players with an Artifact Card, that serves as a strong modifier to the game. Side Quests don't involve dice rolls and are mostly condition based. Treasures are costly to discover but can grant a big reward on successful discovery. And lastly—lurking amongst all Locations in the pile, there are three Trap Locations.
► Action Cards
At the beginning of each turn, you draw an Action Card from the pile! Action Cards let you gain or swap resources, hinder your opponents movement and progress or scout the universe (in other words, the pile of Location cards) for places of interest.
► Resource Cards
There are two types of resources. Fuel is mostly used when you discover a new Location. Credits are used to pay Action Cards.
► Quest & Artifact Cards
Quest Cards list the objectives that players have to fulfill in order to win the game. They also determine game length and difficulty. When a player recovers an Artifact Location, permanently reveal an Artifact Card that adds a powerful modifier to the game.

The Season One Expansion adds 5 Fuel and 5 Credits, allowing a third player to join the game. Also, it contains 60 brand-new Cards split into 3 Mini-Episodes.
Each Mini-Episode features 18 Cards, 1 Artifact Card & 1 Quest Card and has it's unique symbol printed on the card. When playing with two or three players, shuffle the added cards of one Mini-Episode into the Action & Location Card piles.
The Core Game contains 138 Cards, a dice and the game manual. Choose a Quest Card and start exploring right away!

The expansion adds starting resources for a third player. It also enhances your experience and keeps the game fresh by adding 60 brand-new Cards! (Requires the Core Game.)
► You receive one copy of the Core Game.
► All pledges contain a Manual with your name printed on it.
► You receive one copy of the Core Game, one copy of the Season One Expansion and an exclusive Poster (size A2).
► You receive one copy of the Wave Edition. Additionally, we get on on Skype and I'll let you in on the games design vision and future projects. You'll be provided with empty card templates and 3-5 images in order to make Your Own Card that will become a permanent part of the Core Game. (You're strongly encouraged to go absolutely beserk.)
A total of 10 additional cards, as well as an additional dice can be unlocked by reaching Stretch Goals to become a permanent part of the game.

Hi Guys! My name is Carlos Paul and I'm the creator of »Star Waves«.
I have done lots of things prior to this campaign, ranging from Education to Brand Management, but games are my true passion. The one thing that I can do from morning to evening. Every day, since I'm a child. Final Fantasy, Scotland Yard, HeroQuest, all sorts of card games and Chess were some of the biggest influences I've come across along the way.
Do you know that feeling, when your buddy says: "Do you know The Black Eye? Have you ever messed with tabletop RPG's? No? Come over this weekend and bring all dice you have!" And suddenly you sit there, not being you, but being Baleog the mighty Warrior from a forgotten land on his quest for glory and pointless slaughter. The feels, man. And the slaughter.
I live for the moments when you make it to a breakpoint in the story; and the characters that you accompanied for weeks now have unbelievably deep moments together. And you feel every second of it. And even though it's a game it alters your thinking, your behavior, your life. Because a room full of people tried to imprint their emotions, their beliefs, their inspirations into one gaming experience to make your world a little more colorful while having you explore unknown worlds.
I strongly believe, that Humans need to engage in play. Like singing or dancing, it frees the soul, releases tension and brings you closer to yourself; and others. I want to contribute to the best of myabilities and bring exciting and charming games into this world.
The game began existing in 2018, due to the idea of being able to carry a galaxy in your pocket; and just whip it out whenever you feel like exploring or having fun and challenging experiences within it, alongside your friends.
Keeping it simple and on point, so that explaining the rules wouldn't be a time-waster was an important factor. From the start on out, the game was intended to be playable on the go, during short breaks and especially with children.
Bringing in a respectable amount of random elements was another initial design goal. For one, random events carry a sense of danger (and chance) within them that quite well represent the fantasy of unknown treasures and dangers that are waiting in every corner of the universe. Also, they keep the game fresh and provide unique, unpredictable experiences and stories with every play through.
The idea of more flexible playing in a busier world has been taken further with the addition of Quest Cards—a mechanic that allows players to set the time requirement and difficulty for each game. Choose a beginner Quest Card when playing with new players and for that quick lunchtime duel; or take the challenge of an advanced Quest Card for a longer sessions with more seasoned players.
If the campaign ends successfully, we'll initiate the production process with our pre-sourced production partner who is aware of the scope and details of our production needs. Production and freight is estimated to complete within 3 to 4 months. Upon receiving the final product, the shipping of the game to all backers will begin right away.
Risks and challenges
I tried my best to analyze possible sources of delays in the process and countered them with concise planning and beforehand negotiations in all areas that concern the project.
Overseas productions can, regardless of the amount of prophylactic planning, sometimes cause unforeseen delays. Possible delay occurances have been accounted for by leaving extra space in the schedule. Additionally, in my previous work experiences I have dealt with overseas production and the associated freight process and am equipped (and ready) to have my nerves wrecked on the phone for the sake of a smooth campaign flow.
