SPOOKY GIRLS - 4 spooky artists, 4 spooky comics, 1 book!
Hey everyone! Space Between Entertainment, the company that brought you AFTERGLOW and DESTINY, NY, is excited to present an all-new, full color, 60-page graphic novel of monster comics: SPOOKY GIRLS.
Five creators join together to create four brand new spooky characters! Join Pat Shand, Agny Innocente, Taylor Krulicki, Mandy Robertson, and Angela Oddling this Halloween to meet the most terrifying new girls on the block...
The four stories, all brand new and original comic book tales with a unique cast of spooky characters, make up the Spooky Girls!
Through this campaign, you can get:
- The graphic novel itself, which comes in five different versions. A standard cover, and then four spotlight covers that focus on each of the Spooky Girls
- Enamel pins by Angela Oddling
- Trading cards by Sweeney Boo
- A bookmark by Sara Richard
- A signed bookplate
- and more!
Check out our four special variant covers right here!
While their spookiness connects these girls, each of the four stories in this book is unique, with something powerful to say about growing up.
Tarantula Twins is a story about growing pains. We see it as Freaks and Geeks or My So-Called Life... but with monsters. Temple Tarantula is a nerd who excels at school, and her twin Tawny Tarantula is a "bad kid" (really just a stoner) who is rebelling against everything. They still love each other, but feel themselves pulled apart by different friend groups and different lifestyles.
Vicky Slime is a tale of sci-fi terror and body dysmorphia. Though Vicky herself doesn't know the truth of her fate, she is dead. Her father is a mad scientist, who has reanimated her skeleton using a strange, powerful serum: the slime that makes up her body. This slime that keeps her alive also creates a glamour, making everyone at her school -- including Vicky herself -- see her at the popular homecoming queen that she once was. But what happens when Vicky sees her true face?
Jenny the Werecat is a hilarious and heartwarming romp through Halloween night. Jenny is... well, you saw the title -- she's a werecat! She's very much aware of her condition, which allows her to speak with other cats (who love her) and other nocturnal animals (who love her a lot less). Jenny runs a Cat Café, and finds herself at odds with a scrappy homeless werecat who keeps stealing cans of wet food. The war of the werecats is on!
Punk Teen Demon Queen is about a malevolent spirit from hell destined to take over the world. When she gets to the mortal realm, though, she hears a teenage girl rocking out to punk music... and the spirit decides to leave behind her evil crusade -- because if she destroyed the world, she'd also destroy this awesome music. The spirit and the teen become friends and, in order to sneak out to a forbidden concert, the teen allows the spirit to possess her. Together, they become the wicked powerful, and punk AF Punk Teen Demon Queen!
Now that you've met the characters, meet the team!
Remember, in addition to the graphic novel itself, we're offering four variant versions of the book with one cover spotlighting each character and artist, a set of enamel pins, bookmarks, signed bookplates, and more. Check out everything here!

REBEL PRINT - NOW UPGRADED TO A HOLOGRAPHIC ART CARD
Tawny Tarantula is seen as a "bad kid" by the students who go to her monster school. She cuts class, smokes petrified millipedes, and it's been said that she graffitied Professor Boil's cauldrons... but there's no evidence.
All backers will receive this REBEL PRINT, illustrated by Manuel Preitano. Some of you who have backed my previous projects may recognize him as the artist on Destiny, NY!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for pledging to SPOOKY GIRLS. I said this last time, and the time before that, and I'll say it again for every campaign because it's true: every pledge matters because indie comics are powered by passionate creators and dedicated readers like you -- we can't make this book happen without you. Together, we can do this!
