Space Base is my collection of Sci-Fi models for 3D printing. You can integrate them into your tabletop games or just build yourself a space base.
I'm making a rather weird collection of models, but to me they make some sense and you'll notice some of the models are tributes to classic Sci-Fi movies, TV and games such as the familiar looking bunker and walker.
I'm hoping you'll see a place on your table for some of my pieces along side your much more serious scenery pieces and systems.
The models are designed to 28mm scale where 28mm = 6 foot. If you prefer a larger scale the models should be fine to scale up.
The files are supplied as print ready STLs. The larger pieces are optimised for FDM (PLA plastic) printers to save you money, while some of the smaller pieces are more suited to SLA (resin) or SLS(Nylon) to capture finer details. Models are designed to fit on your average sized print bed.
Space Base 1
Last month's collection included 41 models featuring a billboard, a monolith and some astromech droids as well as the Crate Trak automated haulage set . A lot of the pieces wouldn't look out of place in a post-apocalyptic set up. Quite an eclectic collection, I like to think there is something for everyone there.
Check the updates section for a look at what's in the Space Base 1 collection.
Space Base 2
This month we have 5 sets on offer. For your pledge you get all 5 sets, 60 models in all.
- Set 1 The Monorail
A simple track system together with monorail car and 2 stations
- Set 2 The Landing Bay
A raised landing pad with associated buildings and a Gnat Class Transport Ship
- Set 3 The Bunker
A tip of the hat to Star Wars Return of the Jedi with a bunker and a walker
- Set 4 The Sentry Post
A simple set of road tiles with a sentry post and a Caucus Armoured Transport
- Set 5 Walls
A versatile set of high walls with angled pillars and variant panels
Check out the updates section for a closer look at each of the sets.
I will be making more models and developing the 'story' of space base. The world of space base will be something along the lines of Tattoine from star wars, a forgotten hole in the arse-end of the galaxy with a rich and colourful history. Along the way I am hoping to pay homage to iconic Sci-Fi movies, TV shows and video games.
By pledging your support, not only will you be getting some great models, but you'll also be helping me to continue developing my modelling skills and who knows what I'll be coming up with six months from now.
So to those of you who have backed, or are thinking of it, thank you for your interest.
Thanks for watching!
See the updates section for more pictures and information.
This is Space Base
So I know what you're thinking, you're thinking how did this gleaming paradise get such a shitty name. You're gonna have to blame the A.P.E.S.Ex. people for that one. This place was ear-marked as the gateway to the stars, right on the boundary of open space. It may not be too imaginative but it does what it says on the tin.
Sitriss Alpha came from some guy who paid a hundred bucks to name a 'sub-planetoid mass' in the outer solar system. Why he came up with that, we'll never know. For me this place was 'Home', nothing more, nothing less for what must be 300 lonely Earth-augmented years.
By the time the United Peoples of Earth re-established contact in 2226 we had 56 neighbours we never even knew existed. Now the UPE was nothing like the APE, me, I'm not convinced they were even human, but then, by this time, neither were we.
By the end of the century the galaxy had gotten so small, no-one even knew how many populated worlds were out there. As some forgotten, bastard island this place became the magnate for anyone who wanted to avoid the UPE's compulsive need to control the whole fuckin universe.
Now if the history is boring you I'll cut to the chase, all you need to know is that this glorious rock is the grit in the eye of the Empire of United Peoples. The festering pustule they'd rather not poke.
This is Sitriss Alpha, the big lemon, this is Space Base.
Risks and challenges
The print ready models are already created so there are no risks.
I will keep backers informed along the way.
