About this project
UPDATE 11/27: TEASER FOR THE EP!
We've got a week left in this Kickstarter campaign, so we wanted to share a sneak peak of what we've been working on for our backers and potential backers! We appreciate all the support we have received so far, and we hope you enjoy the teaser track! We'll hopefully have another update this afternoon!
We need your help!
Hey guys, we're Sow and Tether, a worship band based at Revision Church in Olive Branch, Mississippi. We've spent the last year writing songs that are centered on gospel truth. These songs have been inspired by our congregation through sermons, small group discussions, and personal bible studies, and we're excited to be able to share them with you!
Now that we're finished tracking the EP, we're only $3,000 shy of being able to get the finished product into your hands! After quite a bit of brainstorming, we decided this would be a great opportunity to get you involved in what we're doing and to give you a chance to get your copy before everyone else!
On the right side of the screen, you'll see a list of rewards. We've done our best to make sure that you get something worthwhile at each incentive level, but we do want to mention that the $35 level provides the best value for your donation! We are grateful for any and all donations received, and it would be INCREDIBLY helpful to us for you to share this project with your friends and family on Facebook and Twitter to help us spread the word!
Additionally, if we raise more than the minimum $3,000 goal, the additional funds will be put towards marketing this EP and towards our next album!
A CLOSER LOOK
If you want to understand the heart of this band and really get to know what our mission is and where the vision came from, we encourage you to keep reading!
THE STORY BEHIND THE PROJECT
We've all been serving on Revision Church's worship team for a couple of years now, and being involved in a church plant that has a relatively small congregation (50-60 members) and no building has allowed us to see the importance and urgency of serving. We started meeting in a skating rink at the beginning of 2011. We assembled a team of volunteers to turn the skating rink into a place of worship. Setting up a sound system, chairs, a projector screen, a nursery and child care room, etc. is a far cry from what most people want to do at 6:30 on a Sunday morning, but what we were able to see firsthand were people who love to serve and who love being together.
As we continue to grow, we are able to see more and more people brought into this community of serving their church, and it has given us a deep desire to use our gifts to push outward, to serve the church at large. The five of us have devoted most of our Saturdays to rehearsing and writing. The band that we've started and the songs we've written for this EP all stem from the joy produced by the gospel being lived out in community with our church. From sermon content to small group discussions, from prayer groups to bible studies, these songs are a reflection of the joy that is found only in Jesus, and it is our desire to draw others into worship. Once the EP is out, we'll have chord charts and eventually some tutorial videos to allow other worship teams to use these songs in their congregations!
WHY WE NEED MONEY
As most of you know, recording an album can cost a TON of money. We were very fortunate to be able to work with Jared Fox at Fox Den Studios in Nashville. Through our own efforts, we were able to raise all the money that we needed to have the album produced, mixed, and mastered.
So what is this $3,000 going to? We'll be using every cent of your donations to help cover the following expenses:
- Copyrighting the songs
- Licensing for our version of "How Deep the Father's Love For Us", originally by Stuart Townend
- Pressing the physical copies of the album
- Distribution to iTunes, Spotify, and other digital retailers
- Tee Shirts to send to our backers
- Sound and production for the release concert
WHY YOU SHOULD CONTRIBUTE
First, we've packed a TON of value into the incentives list to the right. Not only are all the rewards great, but at whatever reward level you decide, you will get a copy of the EP at least 2 weeks before anyone else hears it!
Second, if we don't raise the full $3,000, we don't get to keep ANY of the funding. We could have used any number of funding platforms that allow us to keep the donations even if we don't meet our goal, but we want to see the church be the church in all areas of our ministry. The importance and urgency of serving is something that we want our supporters to understand, and we want you to know that what you do makes a difference, no matter how big or small.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to watch our video and read about what we're doing. Even if you can't support us financially, we would love for you to help out simply by sharing this project through Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, and continue to pray with and for us as our ministry continues to grow!
Also, here's our music video for our arrangement of Nothing But the Blood so you can get an idea of what we sound like :)
Risks and challenges
As it stands right now, the only potential setbacks are from our suppliers. While we are taking all necessary precautions to ensure that things are done on time, if we run into any shipping or production delays from our suppliers, we will get everything corrected as quickly as possible to make sure you get your reward in a timely fashion.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
