They’re Watching Me Sleep…
“You’re not really afraid of the dark, you’re afraid of being alone.” – Nora Allen
This is a comic about a young woman struggling with her own powers of being able to see the future, but only when someone is about to die.
Tortured by always knowing when someone is about to die, Kazuki Okitsu’s friends help her work through her problems.
The Super Hero Thunder Breaker with the power of generating powerful sonic attacks with a snap of his fingers helps her fight against the Dimensional Breachers, a group of scientists trying to open portals to other worlds while she struggles with visions of the Death Seekers, how her mind interprets seeing the future deaths of others.
Meanwhile, the Super Villain, Sya Sree, seeks to help Kazuki find the balance between loving and hating her own power using Sya’s own unique way of looking at two different points of view.
I’ve struggled with depression in the past, and writing a comic about someone who rotates between being helpful and feeling not just useless, but like I’m hurting the people around me by just existing was a real challenge.
A challenge I really wanted to take on.
I lucked out by having a few friends who were always there with me, even though they didn’t always get along or agree with each other, but if it hadn’t been for them I’d have never gotten through it and I wanted to capture that in this comic.
It’s written and in the hands of our amazing artist, Kellik, and I would love to see it funded and out there for the world to see. I hope that it’ll help other people struggling with similar feelings.
Once funded, this is going up on the Kindle Library, Google Play Store, and Comixology.
Personality: She’s constantly scared for her friends. Being able to see on a minute by minute basis how close they are to dying could have that effect on you.
Powers: Perceives the future, but only as someone is about to die, and only of how they’ll die. Translates what she sees as long-limbed goblins attacking the person.
Super Hero Name: Thunder Breaker.
Bio: Often found on patrols with Kazuki, he’s impulsive, and a bit arrogant. Struggles with the fact that he acts before he thinks, and always regrets it afterwards when it ends up hurting those around him.
Powers: Creates cracks of thunder to use sound waves to push people around. What few people realize is he’s creating lightening between his hands, the thunder is just a side effect. Thanks to his impulsive nature, he is terrified to actually use the lightning.
Super Villain Name: Double Header.
Bio: Hangs out in the ‘club house’, just a club room at school that supposedly is a movie review club of foreign films, in reality is a club for empowered teenagers at school. She tends to have a rather laid-back view on super hero-ing, encouraging the others in the club to just let things be.
Powers: Though rarely used, she has the power to temporarily turn parts of people to stone (or if they’re weak willed, all of them.) Was ‘cursed’ so that whenever she has trouble making up her mind, splits into the two sides of her wishy-washy decision making.
Johnathan Lewis: He wrote the kickstarter campaign and gave himself top billing? I call shenanigans! Wait, but he's writing this too... Hmmm... Anyway! He's the writer for this comic and did the lettering. Been working in comics for years, working with Ed for years, blah blah blah. Most people seem to think he's good at what he does, but he doubts himself, typical artistic type.
Kellik: Sketch and Inker for this comic. Does great work! Go hire them! They've done some stuff for us in the past but I think this our first comic with them. I think... Dangit, now I've got to go check.... Nope, this is it. But they are working on an upcoming one too!
Bryan Arfel Magnae: You'll know his work from our last comic, Lobo. You see those gorgeous colours? You see them!? Bryan did them! Bow before that amazing skill!
Ed Jowett: Saving the best for last. He's the boss-man, the head honcho, the big guy, the jerk who runs this place! He was also the editor for this comic and the guy who fronted the cash. Ed and I (Johnathan) started doing comics together years ago and I hope it doesn't stop any time soon. He's my best friend, a great guy, and if his wife is to be believed, incredibly handsome.
Naomi Wong did the voiceover for the video! We would like to thank her for her brilliant work. You can follow her on Twitter at @icclenomi if you want to hear more!

Risks and challenges
There are always risks in any project.
However, we are an established company with experience in completing projects of this kind, and the artwork is completed. The lettering is underway, so all that should be required is layout and printing.
We believe we can easily meet the deadlines we've set! We will, however, keep you up to date for the entire duration of the project about where everything is at, so you are the first to know if something goes wrong!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
