Beth is the fastest person on the planet, but that doesn't mean she always has it easy!
Her personal life seems to be one rejection after another, but at least her life as the superhero Blue-Shift is going relatively well.
Blue-Shift is a charismatic and enthusiastic hero with a sense of humour, as well as a tendency to talk a mile a minute.
When she heads out to stop a bank robbery, she had no idea what she was getting into...
Written by Johnathan Lewis and creator Ed Jowett (of both the universe and the character), Blue-Shift has been illustrated by the talented Rahmat Wisnubroto and the cover artwork has been done by Ferry Susanto!
At SoV Comics, we create comics because we love doing it: we're comic enthusiasts! I, personally, have been collecting comics of almost every type and genre since 1986.
I worked as a writer in the mainstream comics industry for over 15 years. My dream, though, has always been to work with creators who have brilliant ideas and just want to bring their stories to life. I'm pleased to be able to do that with SoV Comics.
Two years ago, when we started, we were able to begin working with some of the best indie artists out there. We aim to work with creators and artists who believe in what they are doing so much that the stories we tell and the images that tell them truly jump off the page.
We want to bring these amazing stories to you, so we've turned to Kickstarter to show you what our talented group of creators have to offer! Our comics so far have received critical acclaim, as well as extremely popular with the backers.
(and we'd like to take this chance to welcome back anyone returning to back us again!)
My name is Johnathan Lewis, and I'm Comic Director for SOV Comics, an independent comic company working with universes created by Shades of Vengeance.
Over the last two years, we have published a number of comics. Prominent among these is our Era: The Empowered series, which Ed Jowett and I conceived of years ago on a trip to Canada. We were talking about the old "90's style" comics and cartoons like the X-Men and Spider-Man. We debuted it at first as a wildly successful tabletop RPG that let people play as their own characters set in the whole new world of "Terra".
A comic involving some of the adventures we saw in play test and games was requested and we had to deliver! Lacuna was the first and others soon followed. But one story always nagged at us, a story that was always as the back of our minds from the beginning... a character that begged us to be written.
Beth Sanders has a difficult enough time trying to find enough time in the day to work her three part time jobs, let alone finding new friends in a new city. Fortunately, she is Empowered with super speed, so she just might manage it!
Shira and Daniel, the "Teleport Twins" didn't have the best home life, and when their father threw Shira out, Daniel wasn't going to leave his sister out in the cold alone.
Together, they have ability to teleport things from Shira's hands into Daniel's, and they use this to do everything from passing notes to pulling off the best bank heists of all time!
Little is known about this lightning-wielding villain - other than his association with The Teleport Twins, he seems to have no ties to anyone or anything.
Johnathan Lewis has been writing comics for over fifteen years, and has been working with SoV Comics since it began! His writing credits include a large variety of comics, particularly some of the best comics we have ever made produced as a group!
Ed Jowett is a creator of worlds and characters who has a seemingly unlimited supply of new ideas. Blue-Shift has been one of his favourites for some years: as a fan-favourite character in the roleplaying game, her story is one that he's eager to tell!
Rahmat Wisnubroto has illustrated for several other SoV Comics projects and has once again brought his distinct style and skill to Blue-Shift. From sketches to colours, this work is all Rahmat, and his dedication to the character and the world shines through on every page.
Ferry Susanto returned to do the cover art for Blue-Shift, after a brilliant job on the Lacuna comic. An accomplished illustrator, there's nothing Ferry likes more than designing and painting superheroes!
Martin Popovski has returned to do the video editing for this project. While it's only a short video, he's brought his usual professional touch to the work and created something remarkable, as always. We're pleased to have him on board for editing!
Devel Sullivan composed the music used in the video. He's a talented composer who's been working with the roleplaying part of Shades of Vengeance for some time, and relished the challenge of composing a theme tune for our speedster!
Ingrid Windsland did the voiceover for the video, and we'd like to thank her for her contribution to the project. She's captured the essence of Blue-Shift perfectly, in our opinion!
We like to provide a little extra whenever we can! Here's what we have in mind!
Risks and challenges
There are always risks in any project.
However, we are an established company with experience in completing projects of this kind, and the artwork is completed. The lettering is underway, so all that should be required is layout and printing.
We believe we can easily meet the deadlines we've set!
If the stretch goals for further comics are reached, we will begin producing them immediately after the funding is complete and we will keep you up to date for the entire duration of the project about where everything is at.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
