Players take on the role of detectives to solve five Missing Person cases. The game uses elements of cunning, skill, and luck to outwit fellow players and end the game with the lowest unsolved case. The game is accessible for most ages and skill levels and incorporates elements from similar analog card games to make the game play experience fun and unique. If you have any questions reach out to us on Facebook!
Shuffle the 18 cards to form a face-down draw deck. Each player draws one card from the deck. This is the player’s hand and is kept secret from the others. On your turn, draw the top card from the deck and add it to your hand. Then choose one of the two cards in your hand and then discard it face up in front of you. You must apply any effect on the card you discarded. All discarded cards will remain in front of the player who discarded them, visible to all players. After applying the card’s effect, the turn passes to the next player, this game is played clockwise. A round ends when the deck is empty at the end of the final turn.
The player with the lowest unsolved case number in their hand is the one who saves the missing person associated with that cards character. If a case is previously solved, that player cannot save the missing person associated with that card. The winner of the round oversees the next investigation and will shuffle the cards and begin again.
In the event of a tie, the tied players who did not use 'Letters', 'Secrets', or 'Case Closed' are the winner of the round.
A case can only be solved once and each character is associated with a specific color. Once all cases are solved the game is over, the winner is the one who has found the most missing persons. For example in the first round of investigations Player One ends the game with the lowest case number, Case No. 1. They in turn win the round and take the pink game piece associated with that case. In the next round; Player Three ends the round with Case No. 2, Player Two ends with Case No. 1, while Player One ends with Case No. 3--the winner of that round is Player Three.
Player One shuffles and sets the deck in the middle of the tabletop, each player grabs one card from the deck. Player One has 'The Old Man' or Case #3 on their turn draws an additional card from the deck, Player One draws 'Untold Secret' and decide to discard the original card, placing it in from of them face up, in which the action is played. They choose Player 3 to discard their current card and draw a new card, that card is discarded face down. Player 2 draws a card, places one face down, uses the action from that card, and the game continues.
The game continues to play until all cards have been drawn, unless 'Case Closed' is placed face up in play--which stops the investigation immediately.
We are running a smaller campaign than most here on Kickstarter, but it doesn't mean we can't have stretch goals! I want to offer finish upgrades to the cards if we reach our goal of $777 and a single stretch goal of $1000. Here is the break-down;
$777 - UV Protection
UV coating is a special liquid that bonds to your game pieces via UV light. It protects your game from dirt, scratches, and moisture.
$1000 - Linen Texture
Linen Texture gives the game a unique feel and makes the game more durable. All cards will benefit from this upgrade and will give the cards a professional linen texture. This finish will be combined with the previous goal of UV Protection to make the colors and finish of the game really pop.
$1777 - The Lost Case
All the upgrades from the previous stretch goals, including an extra case and new missing person. As a small campaign this will be a 'stretch' but I still want to make in option in case we exceed our goals through your support and belief in this project.
To make things easier we have flat rate shipping to the US and Worldwide. No matter which of the fifty states the shipping cost is $4. Then on the other hand, no matter which of the 194 countries outside of the United States you are shipping to the cost is $14. We will not be using a post-campaign service since this will make it easier on our backers on what to expect when the campaign ends.
United States - $4 Shipping
Rest of the World - $14 Shipping
It is my hope that this campaign reaches its goal and I can begin developing Cases 6-10 for release. If those interested back the project and share the campaign with others we should be able to meet our goal and I can begin the shipping process once the funds are released. The game is ready and I am excited to get this project out to the world.
I used the GameCrafter for all of my design, printing, and shipping. This gets the game shipped directly to you from the printer fast and easily. There are a lot of options for game designers and companies that offer more competitive pricing, however it was important to me to have the game made in the USA.
This game has been an idea in my head for awhile now, however it took me longer than expected to find the time to actually sit down and create it. The premise is simple, similar to other analog card games, short fun rounds that are playable for school age children to older adults. I wanted to make a game that was accessible, affordable, and fun to play, which this game is the debut project of South Arcadia on Kickstarter and hopefully not the last.
Risks and challenges
The game is made, the game is ready, the biggest challenge is reaching the right audience. Please share the campaign with friends, family, and followers. You're support will be the reason this project gets funded.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
