About this project
Our mission in a TedTalk:
Our mission in words:
Our goal is to respond creatively to the following question: How can live instrumental music thrive in contemporary culture? We want to present all genres of music with the goal of enhancing the traditional concert experience and engaging all audiences. Music is not only relevant to society; it is essential to our well-being. We are dedicated to exploring what the current generation of musicians can do to contribute to the vitality of orchestral and chamber music.
Thoughts from our Board Members:
Last year, we brought orchestra concerts to our college campus. This year, we want to focus on reaching out to the Rochester community. If we reach our Kickstarter goal, we'll have the funds necessary to bring orchestral music to Rochester audiences through unique, innovative concerts that re-energize the traditional concert experience. We've planned a concert season that includes four interdisciplinary concerts, each of which will feature a collaboration between orchestral music and modern dance, visual arts, multimedia, and local nonprofit organizations. All of these concerts will take place in non-traditional concert settings that are an integral part of our community. Our goal is to expose 50 new people per concert to the dynamic energy that can only be experienced sitting within the orchestra.

Your support is essential to the implementation of our project. There's no way to avoid the reality that it is expensive to design and perform concerts that each involve 40+ musicians.Your support will help us cover costs in the following areas:
- Musician, guest artist, and administrative costs
- Venue and amenities
- Music rental, copying, and distribution
Part of Sound ExChange's mission is to demonstrate how important music is to our culture, thereby increasing the value associated with music. Attaching a price to music doesn't mean that our performances aren't fueled by passion. It shows that music is a vital and valuable part of our culture.
Thanks so much for your consideration and support.
