WHO I AM:
I'm Danielle, an artist and curator interested in developing new support systems for emerging artists whilst promoting the preservation of Suffolk's natural surroundings. This temporary residency is the first of many opportunities for artists to develop and discuss their practices by situating themselves with other artists in exciting environments in the South East, UK.

ABOUT THE RESIDENCY:
The residency takes place 5-6 May in Lowestoft, Suffolk. This year's residency will be a pilot scheme supporting up to 10 residents, with the intention of expanding into an annual event with a more ambitious programme of work and greater support for even more artists in subsequent years.
Lowestoft's first soundcamp is part of a network of UK and international sites taking part in the Reveil radio broadcast, a 24-hour live radio programme. This unique soundcamp is a chance for invited sound artists from across the UK to explore Gunton Nature Reserve through:
- A workshop with a local charity for young people with additional needs
- A guided walk of the Gunton Warren nature trail
- Opportunities to record new sounds individually and collaboratively
- Overnight camp
There will also be a streaming of the dawn chorus from our camp to a 24 hour broadcast of the sounds of daybreak, relayed live by audio streamers around the globe.
Participating artists will be announced in April.

WHAT AM I RAISING FUNDS FOR?:
Residents are asked to cover the cost of all recording and camping equipment. This Kickstarter aims to raise £350 to help cover travel expenses, workshop materials and documentation of the event.
Risks and challenges
A challenge will be making the artists feel immediately welcome and at home in the soundcamp. The curator will personally greet artists on arrival and organise a communal meal to ensure artists feel relaxed and inspired to create new works, whatever the weather.
