We are extremely excited to introduce you to our beloved creation—Sophie Votes Republican. The mission of Sophie Votes Republican is three-fold:
1) teach the importance of patriotism and voting;
2) celebrate conservative values; and
3) most importantly, make readers LAUGH OUT LOUD!
Who We Are
We are not a publishing house or anything of the sort. We are a team of just three—a mix of recent college graduates and young professionals. We believe in the overarching message of this book and its sure-fire success so much that we have taken on the challenge of writing, illustrating, publishing, and marketing the book all on our own.
We have invested our own time and money to create the book and to advertise our Kickstarter campaign. Through Kickstarter, we are hoping to raise the money we need to print and distribute a first run of high-quality hardcover books. Our goal is to raise $15,000 for this purpose.
We hope to be on the New York Times best-seller list by the 2016 Presidential election, and it all starts here…with you!
Mason, our marketing manager, recently graduated from UCLA and now lives in Newport Beach, California. He came on board with our team in June, and he is enthusiastically and thoughtfully managing our social media and Kickstarter campaign. Mason plans to attend law school next year.
Sara, our illustrator and graphic designer, recently graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and lives in Lincoln, Nebraska. She took on this project—her first illustrated children’s book—nearly eighteen months ago. Sara has spent countless hours bringing our story to life through illustrations created entirely from individually cut pieces of paper.
Laura, our author, knows Sara because they both grew up in the same church in Omaha. Now Laura lives in Newport Beach—only a short bike ride away from Mason! Like Sara, this is Laura's first children's book. Laura wrote this story because she believes that every child should be taught about patriotism and the importance of voting.
We wish to thank Erin Riedinger for volunteering her voice-over work and Julian De Leon for volunteering to tape Mason.

Pages From The Book
Our Illustrator & Her Unique Process
After first sketching the layout of the page, Sara cuts out pieces of textured and patterned paper and collages them together to form the different components on the page.
Once all of the components are glued together, each piece is scanned and then digitally combined to produce the final illustrations for the book.
Sara’s process takes much skill, time, and patience. The end product is a book filled with vibrant and amazing illustrations! Learn more about the illustrator
Risks and challenges
We predict that our primary challenge will be managing negative reactions to our book. We understand and respect that many people hold political beliefs near and dear, and we understand that our book is certainly NOT for everyone. Our book is undoubtedly edgy and slanted toward conservative viewpoints, and this is what makes it special.
A secondary challenge is our experience in publishing, or rather our lack thereof. That said, we are three intelligent and determined individuals with plenty of experience in overcoming challenges and accomplishing goals. We are completely confident in our ability to deliver on our promises, and you should be too.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
