About this project
"Sonicsgate: Reqiem For A Team" is the critically acclaimed documentary film that exposes the truth behind the Seattle SuperSonics tragic relocation to Oklahoma in 2008 after 41 years of playing in the Emerald City.
HELP SONICSGATE SCREEN IN NEW YORK CITY!
Since premiering in October 2009, more than 90,000 people have watched "Sonicsgate" in theaters and online at www.sonicsgate.org. The filmmakers decided to give away the entire film for free online because they felt so strongly about its message: That no pro sports team is safe in the modern era. Watch the full film and check out hours of special features at www.sonicsgate.org.
We are trying to book "Sonicsgate" to screen for four days at the People's Improv Theater in Manhattan from Wednesday April 28 thru Saturday, May 1. Since we are a grassroots movement and we gave away the film online for free, we need your help to make this happen!
*** Your contribution will go to help: ***
-- Rent the theater for 4 days. -- Send press kits and invites to international media in town. -- Print 1,000 handbills. -- Book airfare and Hotel.
Sonicsgate Screening in NYC When: April 28 - May 1 Where: People's Improv Theater, NYC
ESPN and International Media will be in attendance! This is the ultimate opportunity to get our story heard!
We were deeply wronged, Sonics fans. It's time to strike back by exposing the evildoers who ripped our team away. This grasroots project has been funded by loyal Sonics fans every step of the way, and now we need your help to bring this story to the national stage and restore the Sonics legacy! Kenny Mayne of ESPN has taken our cause to heart, helping to spread the word of Sonicsgate to his colleagues at ESPN as well as other prominent members of the press who will be in town for the Tribeca Film Festival.
The Tribeca Film Festival is going on at the exact same time, so we are booking this weekend to draw in people who will be attending or covering that major film fest. "Sonicsgate" probably would have made it into Tribeca, but since we premiered it online for free we were automatically disqualified. But we will not be silenced!
YOU HEAR THAT DAVID STERN?!? WE ARE COMING TO YOUR HOUSE...
Sonicsgate has forced our way onto the national discussion with the help of supporters like you! Critics and audiences alike have been stunned by the series of events that caused the Sonics to leave Seattle, and this is the best chance we have to draw attention to this issue and restore the Sonics' Legacy.
Thank you so much for your contribution, no matter how large or small. We promise to continue leading this movement until justice is served and we, the fans, receive the redemption we deserve.
