Philadelphia-based Song Dogs and the Nightjar is gearing up for their first full length album!
"My home is a stable I built with my own hands; but my love, she is wild, and her heart is the land's."
We've all felt it: the promise of the Wild Country, a call to the West, a nostalgia for the freedom and limitless expanse of the first place we called home--where we dreamed our first dreams.
"There's a time when a boy can be content with his dreams, sitting by the creekside. But there's a time when a boy becomes a man, and starts wondering the reasons why."
These feelings inspire the latest effort of Song Dogs and the Nightjar. The band's new material explores the Wild Country: a landscape offering limitless possibility and promise; but is also a ruthless world, dictated not by the Ideologies of Man, but by the Law of the Land.
"I made a promise, I'm gonna keep it anyway I can. Cause that's my word, and that's the law of the land."
The music of the album reflects this wild, nostalgic dynamic. Calling their sound "Prairie-heavy", the band's new material is a mix not only of heavy rock grooves, delta blues tunings, and hard hitting drums; but also of rolling harmonies, quiet melodies, and whispered secrets.
"Baby, baby, I promise; next time I won't be so heartless."
Your contribution to this project will help Song Dogs and the Nightjar recapture the Wild Country, and explore our collective place in it. If we raise the full $5,500, we'll be able to record our first full length album. If we raise $8,000, we'll be able to cut the album to vinyl! Moreover, your generosity will help a hard-working Philadelphia band share their passions with a wider audience, and help to make good on a promise the band makes in the song that is their namesake:
"We are Song Dogs."
Together, we all are.
