A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
Thank you so much for your interest in our sleep robot! We're super excited to finally launch on Kickstarter. The last two years have been a crazy roller coaster ride for us, where we busted our butts every day to get to this point. And we've only just begun! It's awesome that we've received so much support from the community, the media, and even our inspiring production partner Royal Auping who believed in us when we where just four students chasing a dream. The encouragement of so many people makes us feel that we're really on to something special here. We hope to make people all over the world aware that sleep medication doesn't have to be the default solution for bad nights of sleep. Please join our journey and spread the word to bring the world better sleep! Sleep tight...
Join our sleep revolution
At Somnox, we truly believe in co-creation. We've reached this point through the help of hundreds of test sleepers, researchers and sleep maniacs, but we also realize that we still have a long way to go in our quest to help 100.000 people achieve a good night's rest. We would love for you to join our sleep revolution. We're craving for your feedback, tell us what you think and help us in our goal to bring the world better sleep!

Somnox is a company dedicated to helping people all over the world sleep better. Based on extensive and insightful research, we offer robotic solutions that improve the well-being of users. Our mission is to defeat insomnia once and for all. Our team consists of engineers, sleep enthusiasts, researchers, marketing professionals, and experienced entrepreneurs that are passionate about sleep and technology.
"We aim to be pioneers in the future of sleep."
Over the past 24 months, we have pored over tons of medical research and studies about the effects of breathing, audio, and affection on stress-related insomnia. From there, we set out to take this research and develop a product that would improve the lives of many. After much trial and error, we’ve arrived at a prototype that people really love. Our manufacturing partners are ready to go. All we need is your support so we can deliver sleep at your doorstep.
We need your support to make sure that the Somnox sleep robot can fulfill its potential and help the world sleep better. We will use the funds raised on Kickstarter for:
Manufacturing: Our reliable manufacturing partners need a minimum financial commitment to get started on a large manufacturing run. This is why we have set our funding target at €100,000. By hitting this funding goal, we will be able to put in a larger order with our manufacturing partners, enabling us to serve the exact customer demand.
Testing: Between in-house testing and beta testing, we will continue validating the Somnox sleep robot to guarantee the best possible product by the time it launches in July 2018.
Quality: To ensure that we deliver the highest quality product we will hire additional dedicated engineers that will help us elevate the product even further.
Tooling: Producing Somnox requires various resources such as injection molds which we will purchase to ensure that we can continue to create products for years to come.
Risks and challenges
The Somnox sleep robots come with lots of state of the art technology. In order to cope with the challenges of bringing this new technology to the market, we spent endless hours into the user testing of our sleep robots. Simply put, we want to get it right the first time.
A long-term challenge for us is to grow our user base as much as possible. The more people that use the Somnox sleep robot, the more data and the more intelligence we will be able to pack into our App. More data will enable us to refine breathing and audio relaxation to perfection.
Our mentors at the YES!Delft Incubator and our production partner at Royal Auping give us a very strong support system that is committed to help us succeed. With their guidance and network, we're confident that we will deliver a low-risk, high-quality product to our backers by the summer of 2018.
