About this project
GOAL! But JUST A FEW HOURS LEFT—will we get any more pledges?
“Sometimes”... is a tongue-in-cheek (and lighthearted slap-in-the-face) illustrated humor book by two graphic designers who value laughter over frustration. Written as a series of short quips in repetitive fashion, each spread is a pair of one of a kind ridiculous illustrations and text. It's a novelty gift—or cathartic tool for yourself!
Hi. We’re Janell and Joe, two unpublished, ambitious graphic designers from Chicago. This is our first book (of what we hope to turn into a series) and we need YOUR help in order to self-publish.
The primary context may seem like the "traditional" workplace—yet it's anything but traditional. Surrealistic situations displayed through some eccentric characters make this a fun book no matter where you work! For the past 6 months we’ve poured our hearts into it, to compose the perfect combination of the highest quality layouts that we hope you find as funny as it was a labor of love.
Now, all we need is to PRINT and begin self-distribution. We need your help! If you’re new to Kickstarter, it’s simple: Pledge to support our project (and future) and get a myriad of cool incentives depending on your pledge amount. Just click on the video above or see the sidebar to the right to get the full breakdown of your "cubicle appropriate" rewards!
All funds OVER our goal will still go toward the print run & reward costs, as well as helping us build seed capital for more runs and future editions. $3500 is the bare minimum we needed to get started.
If we believe anything it’s this: life’s frustrations are more tolerable when you can laugh at them (and if you're going to bash someone's face in, do it euphemistically).
THANK YOU FOR READING! please support and send to a friend!
You've reached your mark, and there's still days left in the campaign. What's the point of pledging if you've made your goal already?
With Kickstarter, if we don't meet the minimum, we get nothing, so to be safe, we set our goal at the lowest possible number needed to make the smallest print run. We're coming out-of-pocket for shipping and the other rewards (button maker, mugs, magnets, © fees, etc). PLUS, if we can afford a larger run, we'll do it.
Please—DON'T be discouraged to pledge just because we hit our mark. Many other Kickstarter projects go over their funding goal because people believe in them & what they will do. If YOU believe in us, don't hesitate! We appreciate all the *extra* help we can get!
The campaign ends on July 5th, after which we'll release a timeline plan to all our backers.
There are some wait periods involved, but that's normal and all in all, we plan to have everything in your hands in over a month or so.
All Backers will be kept in the loop as we wait for Amazon to release the funds to us, place the order with our printer, arrival, then ship them to you etc. Our project page will still be up and we will post updates regularly.
I only pledged $25. But I want a button and a coffee mug (without pledging the extra amount) I saw a "store" option on your website. Will you be selling these items eventually?
We hope so! Because we have to purchase in bulk, we may have surplus reward gifts. These items would be made available through our sometimesbook.com website, while supplies last. (note= made available AFTER all our Backers receive their rewards first!)
I saw that some other Kickstarter book projects listed their Backer's names in the book (like a copyright "thank you" page) Are you doing something like that?
YES. We are working on something very special for our Backers. Everyone who pledges will get their names in our book, in a creative way! (Organization flow-chart of support anyone?)
