Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why is there an uneven number of socks in a pack?
A: SOLOSOCKS™ come in packs of 5 or 7 single socks that are designed to match. The socks come in an uneven number to underline the fact that there are NO PAIRS. But don’t worry. You will loose a sock eventually, and when you do you will be left with an even number!
Q: I live in Copenhagen. Can I pick up my socks myself?
A: No. However, we will personally deliver them to you and thank you for backing us.
Q: What cotton is used for SOLOSOCKS™?
A: We only use the finest GOTS-certified organic combed cotton. Combed cotton is a specially processed cotton where the short fibers of cotton are eliminated to increase the quality, softness and durability of the cotton.
Q: What is a hand linked toe seam?
A: The toe part of an ordinary sock is usually sewn by a sewing machine, which normally makes the toe seam thicker and inconvenient. Hand-linking is a demanding technique where each single thread on the toe and the sock foot are linked manually. It makes toe seam totally flat and comfortable. Usually, this work is done by professional workers. The paradox about the manual hand-linking technique is that it can be harmful for the professional worker’s eyes. For SOLOSOCKS™ we have chosen ultra modern Italian machines that provide machinery hand-linking. As such we managed to avoid the harm but kept the hand-linking quality.
Q: Are SOLOSOCKS™ quality controlled?
A: SOLOSOCKS™ undergo various quality control processes of our own and some external vendors and institutions. We choose only European certified suppliers, which means all production steps from cotton production to yarn and dying processes are periodically controlled by the relevant institutions and authorities.
Q: How should I wash my SOLOSOCKS™?
A: SOLOSOCKS™ are made of finest organic combed cotton. Natural cotton feels more convenient, however, demands careful treatment. Your SOLOSOCKS™ should not be washed with temperature over 40C.
Q: How and where are SOLOSOCKS™ manufactured?
A: SOLOSOCKS™ are produced with the state of the art Italian Lonati machines in Istanbul, the sock capital of Europe! Turkey has some of the finest combed cotton, good reliable factories, and is located in Europe. Most of the socks headed for Europe are produced there.
Q: Who designed SOLOSOCKS™?
A: The SOLOSOCKS™ have been designed by various talented Danish designers under Anna Sofie Weinell’s leadership. Anna Sofie is an experienced Fashion Designer with a degree from Copenhagen School of Design and Technology.
Q: What kind of warranty do you offer?
A: No matter how good the quality is, socks will always be socks and eventually they will be worn out. This means that we can’t offer a warranty. We do however have a return policy.
Q: What is your returns policy?
A: This is the "SOLOSOCKS-promise": We are so confident that you will love your new SOLOSOCKS™ so much, that we offer you a 14 days’ money back guarantee after you have received them (if you are not satisfied).
Risks and challenges
Getting a product like this from the mind of the designer into the hands of backers involves a great deal of hard work, planning and coordination between designer, manufacturer, and logistics in order to deliver on schedule.
In recognition of this, we have been working closely with the production personnel for more than three years, refining the specifications and ironing out the technical challenges and complexities involved in transitioning from drawing board ideas to full-scale manufacturing.
We already have two collections out on the market as of now. This means that we have undergone the entire process twice, and so we are well prepared to deal with the complications that can arise in moving products between the factory, warehouse, and the end user.
As a result of this we are confident that once our goal is met, we will be able to deliver on schedule to all our backers.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
