Background: manufacturing in the USA, after Australian R&D, patents, and lots of love from cooks all around the world.....
This is our first USA Kickstarter campaign, after 12 successful launch campaigns (and retail and export success) for our innovative, chef-acclaimed, Australian-made Solidteknics cookware, and two decades experience as mechanical engineers developing industry-leading chef equipment.
We need a new US campaign series because we are also now manufacturing in the USA, with all the new tooling and serious investment required. We are using the same patents to manufacture in Chicago the same innovative nöni cookware we developed in Australia (but with 100% USA materials), to grow closer to our rapidly growing community of USA supporters. After establishing our USA cookware in the hands of cooks, and on social media, we aim to make the jump to broad US retail.
Once Kickstarter backers cook with these Chicago nöni pans, we know they will love them like the top chefs and experts do. We hope all their excitement will grow awareness about this revolution in seamless conductive cookware, just like it did in Australia. That is our vision, and we can only make that dream real with your real support here.
What could be better than an 'iron clad guarantee'?
.....wrought in solid ferritic stainless!

All independent and unsponsored real love for our original Sydney wrought seamless pans, the same as our new Chicago pans......
What this USA Kickstarter #1 campaign offers
This first USA campaign is for our very first 3 limited edition stamped and dated First Edition nöni pans:
Prices and reward details are listed down the right side column (on desktop browsers). All pan dimensions are tabled in Section 2, near bottom of this campaign page, including size comparisons with our existing Australian cookware.
Secure a rare First Edition stamped pan from the very first USA production batch of this new era in wrought 1-piece pans: an historic piece of cookware history!
Kickstarter prices are much lower than retail, and these are the rare First Editions of the first USA production run.....
Are we witnessing a revolution in cookware?
No stainless cookware in history has come with this array of multi-generation benefits:
Yes, this is certainly NOT a 'flash-in-the-pan' hipster Kickstarter gadget.....it should be clear from the above world-first features that nöni™ was engineered to lead a whole new category of high performance cookware: seamless 1-piece stainless.
There are no others, and we hold the patents* for this genuine world-first.....
However, we can't make history alone, without your funding support here on Kickstarter, and without all your generous sharing on social media.
That's why we always say we're in this together!
See more product tech detail and FAQs in Section 2.
This is not your regular (poorly conducting) austenitic stainless: this is ferritic stainless
FAQ: How can solid stainless steel be highly conductive? This is a whole new way to make cookware from one solid monobloc of highly conductive stainless. More conductive than all the old clad multi-ply cookware that has dominated at the top end for decades. We don't need aluminum or copper clad layers because we've used the right solid ferritic (non-Nickel) stainless, and it is nothing like your clad austenitic (Nickel) stainless.
Please remember: this is a new era in cookware engineering, not marketing. We're real mechanical engineers who cook, not marketeers.
See much more nöni ferritic stainless material tech detail in Section 2, including a very revealing 'boiling race' with a top old tri-ply brand.
The luxe nöni Satin finishes:
Limited First Edition, only on Kickstarter!
A major attraction for backers in all our past 12 Australian Kickstarters has been how we stamp every limited edition Kickstarter pan with 'FIRST EDITION', and the month/year of manufacture.
Please remember: we promise all our Kickstarter campaign backers we only ever make First Edition pans for them alone, and never again after the Kickstarter launch campaign closes. If you don't pledge here, there is no other way to purchase a First Edition pan.
Imagine your descendants in awe of their rare First Edition nöni™ pans, with date stamp witnessing the long heirloom history of their family cooking.....
So NOW is the time to secure your rare piece of first batch USA cookware history!
We feel blessed and proud to see so much strong support in the cooking community for our seamless cookware innovation and business vision. We simply would not have survived, against all the odds (and against all the bigger importers), if not for your faith, your social sharing, and your Kickstarter pledging.
You inspire us to remain true to our vision, and keep on pushing through the many barriers.
Bless you all!
The First Edition nöni™ USA timeline
The lead times for various batches are listed with each Reward (column on right for desktop). The Early Bird First Editions will be shipped in July, while the regular First Editions will be shipped in August. Yes, this will be some kind of speed record for the first production batch of a new innovation in cookware in the USA.....if you know manufacturing!
So, barring major 'left field' issues, our experienced Chicago factory, with training from our Australian experience in seamless cookware manufacturing, will ship as promised.....just as we've shipped 12 past Australian cookware Kickstarter campaigns as promised.
Section 1 conclusion:
Our patent-pending nöni™ is the only seamless one-piece stainless steel production cookware in the world, more conductive than tri-ply, and easily the most durable. Our multi-century warranty is not a marketing gimmick.
We launched a whole new cookware industry for Australia when we crowdfunded our first Australian iron cookware here on Kickstarter in 2014, followed by 11 more stongly supported campaigns. Our Solidteknics cookware is acclaimed by chefs and experts, health and sustainability-conscious home cooks, selling strongly at retail in Australia, and exported to the USA and UK. Our new USA cookware will bring production much closer to our rapidly growing USA support base.
Solidteknics is still the only production cookware made in Australia. Every other brand is imported, and disposable synthetic nonsticks sadly still dominate the retail shelves.....and landfills. We're helping change attitudes to all that waste and damage, and driving a growing grassroots movement rejecting disposable/toxic cookware. Gradually we will work to reverse many kinds of unsustainable consumer habits, in many countries, for the sake of future generations.
We got the engineering right, but we can't do it alone! If you want our vision to survive, please follow our USA Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, our Solid Supporters newsletter list, and join the wonderful community on the Facebook Solidteknics Cookware Users Group, then please SHARE the news with all your friends: that you’ve found the finest stainless cookware available today, they're now made in USA, and these new heirloom collectible FIRST EDITION nöni™ pans are only available this once, by pledging here on Kickstarter before the campaign deadline.
Together we'll make history, not just the world's finest new breed of seamless cookware.
Thank you and Happy Cooking!!
Mark, Steve, Belinda, Marshall, and the Solidteknics USA Team
Section 2: More detail and FAQs
Multi-function skillet-lid innovation
You've never seen a LID cook like this:
FAQ: How did the skillet-lid come about.....or.....'isn't that really expensive for a lid'?!
Unusual (we think we're the first), but true: we are offering a multi-century warranty for nöni™.
This is not a marketing gimmick. We're not marketeers, we're engineers.....and this is solid engineering:
Made from one seamless 3mm wrought monobloc of very tough ferritic stainless, this material won't crack like cast iron. There's no synthetic coatings or enamel, and there's no rivets, welds, seams or clad layers to eventually fail. It would be clear to any experienced engineer that there is far more than one century of life in nöni™ cookware, and quite possibly millenia.....
Our multi-century warranty applies whether used in the home, restaurant, or campfire.....nöni™ is basically indestructible!
Note that our warranty only covers normal cooking situations, not abuse, and doesn't cover small stains and rust spots that may be possible in extreme environments. We haven't seen rust on nöni™ in all our trials (and long-term kitchen use, including dishwashers), except for long duration salt spray tests: way harsher than real kitchen life. In the unlikely event you did develop a small rust spot, don't worry: it will polish off and the pan won't be harmed. In general, don't leave the pan in wet/caustic/acidic environments. Simple care would suffice, like wash and dry, or at least open the dishwasher door after a cycle. Don't leave in seawater, or in contact with wet dissimilar metals (like austenitic stainless sink top). We won't replace a pan, with all the waste involved, for a small, easily-fixed blemish or surface discoloration caused by lack of care.
Sustainability and legacy through multi-century durability:
We want our supporters to buy our cookware only once, and hand them down for multiple generations as treasured heirlooms. That's why we stamp the date of manufacture on every pan. Parents and grandparents are already talking about handing down their heirloom Solidteknics pans (some writing them into their will!), and that's what makes us most proud of all.....making history, not just cookware.
FAQ: But isn't solid stainless steel a poor heat conductor?
A: No, this is our exceptional conductive solid ferritic stainless steel!
Our USA-made stainless is not the more common Nickel austenitic stainless steel: our ferritic grade is much more heat conductive. In fact, it is almost twice as conductive as normal austentic stainless, so it heats faster than complex old clad multi-ply stainless steels traditionally used by all the other top brands. They also need rivets/welds/screws. Our nöni™ is one solid seamless multi-generation indestructible monobloc of tough ferritic stainless.
Video heat conductivity trial:
See nöni™ in an eye-opening 'boiling race' experiment against another top tri-ply stainless brand, with identical input conditions. Note how nöni™ reaches a full boil more quickly, more evenly, and also boils more vigorously. We can't reveal too much, but basically our solid ferritic stainlesss ensures the heat input is conducted directly through to the water/food: not slowed down by a poorly-conducting final layer of austenitic stainless.
Our ferritic stainless is loved by chefs because they can feel how conductive our cookware is versus the old multi-ply cookware they've grown used to over the decades, including the top brands. This video clearly shows it: one solid thick monobloc of the right material is more efficient than multiple conductive alloy layers fighting to overcome an insulating final layer.
Non-Nickel ferritic stainless = magnetic = induction compatible!
Ferritic stainless is magnetic (not magnetised), because it is not an alloy with Nickel. Most stainless pans (and benchtops, forks, spoons, etc), are non-magnetic austenitic (Nickel-Chromium) stainless, which is a very poor thermal conductor. Check your stainless around the kitchen: if a magnet doesn't stick strongly, it is austenitic. A concern with austentic cookware is that studies have found Nickel leaches into your food, particularly the first few cooking cycles, and with acidic foods (when new you should boil 4 batches of water and discard: by nature of migration of the ions, most of the leaching happens in the beginning).
Ferritic stainless is nearly twice as thermally conductive as austenitic stainless, so you can turn your burners down and use less energy, on any heat source!
Certainly not inexpensive, but competitive with other top brands in price, and superior in durability and performance. An investment in 'paying it forward' for future generations! Manufacturing in the USA is expensive, particularly with this world-first (and difficult) patented method, to this high quality level, with a lot of artisanal hand finishing, in this fine ferritic stainless.....
Please note that we have set our prices for the new nöni™ First Edition pans artificially low (unsustainable at retail) for backers of this campaign. Prices will be much higher when they eventually reach retail after the campaign. We hope you will agree that nöni™ is still great value, as an investment in a lifetime of solid cooking love, and an heirloom to pass down for many generations.
A Kickstarter launch of any new innovation is not online retail: that isn't the purpose of the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform. Unlike the many online retailers, we don't have a warehouse full of imported generic finished products ready to ship. Remember we're creating something new and revolutionary in this industry, from scratch, and 100% made in the USA.
For the very first production run we are setting ship dates conservatively to avoid disappointing backers. We fulfilled our shipping promises in all 12 Kickstarter campaigns in Australia, and now we want to maintain the same record of excellence in the USA.

A passion for engineering world-leading chef equipment
More background history:
A passion for sustainable business:
Engineering for legacy, not just sales:
A passion for good food:
Horses for courses.....
We still prefer the natural nonstick of seasoned iron for high temp frying, grilling, etc, but.....
A track record of successful campaigns, reliable shipping, and thousands of happy First Edition backers!
We don't say this to be boastful, but to show the depth of support we've so rapidly built in the cooking community for new innovation in iron and stainless pans. The Kickstarter funding success certainly has been important for turning our dream for a new world-leading Australian cookware industry into a reality. However, it was our supporters sharing the love on social media that really made Solidteknics successful at retail in Australia, in export to the USA, and now to UK. Sure, we got the engineering right, but without so many strong supporters we would still only be 'dreamers with prototypes'!
How do the Chicago-made nöni pans compare with the Sydney-made nöni pans?
'Could I just wait until they're made in Australia?' We will eventually replicate both nöni ranges in our USA and Australian factories, though there will be some regional differences (eg. more wok/sauteuse styles in Australia, more griddles in USA). It will take time though: we have so many new innovations to launch (cookware and other chef tools) that it may take a few years.
Don't miss this first/last opportunity: If you particularly like the look of these new USA nöni pans, we recommend pledging for them now, while they are historic First Edition of our first USA production, and while they are much lower in price than the eventual retails (which could be $60+ higher for the 11" pan, and $120+ higher for the set, and much higher again if distributors and retailers want higher than average margins.....beyond our control)!
Still have questions?
If you have any concerns about anything in this campaign, please contact us first via Kickstarter direct message or email email@example.com
Please do not run first to social media with a public post before you understand the background. If you knew us you would know we have solid integrity, not just decades of mechanical engineering development for chefs, and we are dedicated to making all our supporters happy. At the same time, we are not online retailers selling generic imports: we are experts in this field of engineering, and we're worth giving the benefit of the doubt first if you think you have a warranty or tech question.
We always give, and expect, mutual respect.

Compulsory Kickstarter 'risks' section:
Risks and challenges
After a long and intensive development period, 12 (twelve!) successful Kickstarter campaigns in Australia, overwhelmingly positive feedback from top chefs, strong retail sales and exports, and many production runs, SOLIDteknics is rapidly becoming established as a major chef equipment brand.
Though undeniably very hard work to launch manufacturing in the USA, on the scale of products and businesses I’ve launched this is certainly at the low risk end. After decades in the chef equipment industry and a long R&D process, I’m very confident the product is the best it can be - in fact, the best in the world - for all the reasons presented in the project detail.
If our backers allow us reach our target in time, the funds will be quickly applied to the tooling and production costs and we will ship on time (barring 'acts of God'!), as promised. We have a long and proven track record of keeping our promises, and fixing any unexpected issues quickly and thoroughly, with mutual respect.
Apart from all the engineering experience, it is our amazing strong base of passionate supporters who really ensures our success with each campaign (then ongoing retail and export success). We couldn't do it without you, and we are very grateful for all your support. Thank you all!
