PSA: All "GAME ON" backers and above will receive an exclusive in-game item. They will also receive high definition wallpapers and art.
I'm a successful game developer, I've released the game "Wings of Vi" on Steam and "I Wanna Be The Boshy" to great reception. "Roah" is a new challenging game aiming to please platform-lovers, hardcore and casual alike.
A great unknown danger is approaching Roah's home planet. Follow Roah as she explores the world and encountering all of its different factions, uncovering the mystery of what is draining the planets lifeforce.
The game takes inspiration from Rayman Legends, An Untitled Story and a variety of classic adventure platformers. Roah will have a big world with tons of new abilities to obtain and master.
The game features a ton of bosses, elite enemies and regular enemies. Each with their own moves and abilities that require different strategies.
TONS of moves. Execute your own custom combos in a free-form way, mechanically reminiscent of fighting games like Marvel vs. Capcom. Complete with groundbounces, OTG's, roll cancelling and more. Pick your moves carefully for each fight. Combat trials will teach you each of the moves and how to use them as well as example combos.
Customize your gameplay by equipping magical items that grant bonuses like a chance to critcally strike, or making Roah faster. To start with, you can equip two items type at a time, so mix and match carefully for the upcoming fights!
You earn moves and items by completing optional combat trials that require you to do certain combo strings.
Adventure through creepy crypts, crawly insect hives, egyptian inspired deserts, greek & roman inspired underseas, mountains, underground and more. Each world has its own unique mechanics needed to be mastered before you can proceed.
Here's a small snippet of the OST being composed by Wings of Vi's composer Ashton Morris.
Follow the Development
When developing Wings of Vi, I was using Clickteam Fusion 2.5, but now I've moved on to Unity. This will allow me to make the game way more in-depth and possibly release the game on consoles later on.
Changing the development environment came with a cost, though. I had to spend a lot of time trying to learn, and build my own engine that I could customize. This is very important to my game design philosophy, I want to have full control over the physics and gameplay of the game - so I didn't want to use a pre-made platformer engine.
Spending a lot of time on the engine and learning Unity pushed back my intended release quite a bit, so now I'm seeking a bit of help to make the game.
Risks and challenges
There aren't many risks involving this kickstarter project. This project means the game will have extra content and polish, but the game will still be made at some point otherwise.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
