Have a question?
Probably about due for another update...
@Dylyan: I understand your sentiment and you are right. Didn't mean to redirect you to the forums for major updates, but some of the detail work will be discussed there that not always qualifies for a large update to all of our backers.
To be fair, not everyone who supported Highrisers here on Kickstarter is really interested in all the fine tunings that are discussed in the forums; but if someone wants to get more into detail than what we have here on the kickstarter page, the forum is a good place to go.
If you just want to read, you don't need to create an account either.
That said, we will see that project updates come here more regularly, pinky promise!
@Dylyan: FWIW, a lot of the updates and changes on the forum are largely gameplay and balance tweaks, nothing really to "show" if you've not played the demo.
Sorry, no - I backed you here on kickstarter, you asked for our money here on kickstarter and kickstarter is the place where updates regarding the project should be posted. I can only repeat myself: so far there haven't been any kind of updates besides the "Demo" updates (last one in August!).
I back many projects here on Kickstarter and want to have all the updates in one place. What I do not want to do is register on countless forums or websites, just so that I can see the updates!
Please let us know when we can expect an update here on Kickstarter?
Larger update post will be coming soon.
Until then, short overview what is going on right now: Transition of the code base from flash to C++ for greater speed and stability; first steps of integrating the code into steams framework; planning and integration of the procedural level generation.
The demo version is not an end in itsself - it is one of our most important tools to get in touch with you, our community; and through it, we got tons of invaluable input about what works and what not; about your ideas and suggestions and where the game should be headed. Also identified and fixed countless nasty bugs that we haven't been aware of yet.
So, for those of you who would like to stick closer to the dev process, I would like to invite you again to join the forum and partake in the lively discussions there:
Hope to see you there!
Last (real) update with content was in March! Any chance for some updates that DO NOT talk about the Demo? Whats the current status of the game? When will the game come out?
Definitely liking things so far. :) More involved feedback over at the forums.
Any update on when it's coming out?
Hey guys, sorry for the silence and the delay. Short update:
Demo was delayed, and we still don't have everything in it that we would like to show you - but we will finally release it next week nevertheless.
For those of you who can't wait to see the current state of the game:
Highrisers will be shown at IRX - Indie Revolution Expo, an online Indie Game Expo which you can watch on twitch this weekend:
(The version presented there will be the same as in the Demo, but we want to make a nicely wrapped executable file for you, our backers.)
Thanks for the patience!
Did I miss a message regarding the Demo? Or is it not done yet? In any case - an update would be very much appreciated!
So....been a month and a half....
Point taken, gentlemen; new update is coming! :)
Yeah, 2 months since the last update -time for a new one?
So how are things going? Any updates?
@Howard: I checked Discord out, but am still a bit confused - I'll contact you personally
@Del Eatme: The official beginn of the integration of the higher tier pledges where you can contribute your ideas will still take a few weeks, and you will all get a message when its time.
However, if you're already eager to present your ideas and discuss your plans - sure, just write us! We're happy to see such engagement! :)
Hey there! Hope you all had good holidays, and that you are raring to go on the game. Wanted to suggest Discord if you want to connect with your backers and other supporters. It's a great way to have conversations, and to show off your progress. I'm on three other in-development games there myself.
That's so great! Thank you, every single one of you.
Hey @Ethan Schaeffer! Thank you!
Yes, there is a very good chance!
But it would be a post-launch-feature, as we promised to focus on completing the game for PC/Mac/Linux first. Once that is done, we will look into console ports and coop-multiplayer.
This looks awesome. Any more chance of this making it to the PlayStation 4?
@NecroNuke9: Until now, we only do have the basic dreamer, which is the reason that you never saw something else in the trailers. But that's one of the first things we will adress after the campaign, so be prepared to see different enemies in the final game!
Funded! Yeah! Thank you all so very much! ♥
Zielgerade, auf gehts!!
Woo hoo, funded!
Is there variation with the enemies or are they all the same?
@Howard Kistler: Of course it does! Thank you very much! We can do this!
So very close! Bumped up my pledge to the "find my corpse" level, hope it helps! :)
So excited for this game, can't wait to play it, keep up the great work!
Just another 2.5k to go in the last 5 days!
Love the pixel animations!
@Howard Kistler: Great, thank you very much! Will drop by and say hello, in case anyone has questions!
@Sascha Schade: Vielen Dank! Greetings back from Munich!
@everyone: 90% done! Thank you so much! We can do this!
I've posted this campaign on the GOG forum, and added it to their Wishlist. Hopefully this will drum up some more backing. Drop by the forum if you like, we love hearing from the devs!
Viel Erfolg!! Hoffe ihr bekommt das Geld zusammen :)
Good Luck Guys and greetings from Berlin ;)
Thanks for your feedback! We did get several requests to broaden the range of reward tiers we offer.
The original thought was to keep it clean and simple - and we always wanted to avoid the production of physical goods... we make games, not T-Shirts ;)
But as we see the interest sparking up from the community for some more options, we will gladly reconsider our plannings!
@MartectX and @Azuvector: we like both your ideas; let's see what we can do!
Expect some new pledge goals soon!
Some sort of mid-range tiers would be a good idea, for funding, too.... At the moment there's 1/15/35/500, which is a huge gap between 35 and 500.
Design an enemy? Design some equipment or a weapon or some sort of gear, less complex than some sort of "machine"?
Maybe let premium backers design the interiors of a floor? I could imagine a certain floor in Munich which I would like to see mirrored in the game... :-D
@Azuvector: Cool idea, but a completely new playable character (with graphical assets, a balanced skilltree, etc.) is definitly not in OUR budget, we're afraid! ;)
No way we could do a proper implementation for an acceptable pricetag... :(
And a half-baked implementation of a new character would break everything. But new characters are a great idea for post-launch development; noted in the captain's log.
@Solar Powered Games
Not in my budget most likely, but might it make sense to add a backer tier to let a backer design a playable character?
@Solar Powered Games
To answer your question from PM, yep, definitely answered my questions satisfactorily. Hence, backing. :) Good luck.
