A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
The WAAN lightsaber has been funded – thank you so much ! – and we’re now thinking about stretch goals. We’re convinced that WAAN already have all the awesome features required to become the ultimate lightsaber. We don’t want to jeopardize or delay the project with complex stretch goals, but we really want to offer something for your crazy support. Many of our backers have shared nice and creative ideas and some have requested a public API.
Once we reach 100.000 €, we’ll start working on a documented open API for developers and advanced users. You will be able to write your own application on any platform and configure the WAAN directly (change color, reactions, sounds, ….) using the Bluetooth connection! The open API will be released at launch, or shortly thereafter. Even if you’re not a developer yourself, you will still benefit from the community’s creativity :-)
Thanks again and don’t forget : We’re always here to listen to your suggestions !
WAAN is THE lightsaber, designed by experts and intended for all enthusiasts fed up with bad quality or fragile lightsabers! With WAAN, choose your path and become the master of your battles.
Balanced for real immersion with input from a professional swordsmaster, WAAN is composed only of high quality materials. Designed in France by a team of passionate researchers and designers, with every detail having been studied and scrupulously validated. The handle design, blade strength, easy and quick blade change, all without any tools... But WAAN's biggest innovation is how its sounds and the perfect responsivenesswe achieved whether through its built-in speaker or via Bluetooth. We don't use embedded pre-recorded sound banks, but a complex algorithm and a powerful DSP (Digital Signal Processor) to generate the audio flow in real time. WAAN is, without a doubt, a truly exceptional lightsaber.
Dark or bright, no matter what your path is: WAAN will be the sword YOU have desired. Connect to its app, thanks to its Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy connection (in order to maximize autonomy), and customize it simply and completely according to your preferences. You'll be able to choose from thousands of colors and an entire library of sound effects. Create different profiles to match your every mood and share them with your allies. Strengthen your ranks!
Live and share a unique moment to the witnesses of your exploits: with the Bluetooth audio stream of WAAN, your performances transmit incredible sound to your wireless speakers. Stream the sound of your sword live on a Hi-Fi installation, or listen on your own headphones for more comfort, without interruption and fluently thanks to a Bluetooth connection.
Solaari was created by LDLC (a french IT reseller), bringing together several high-tech engineers, passionate about innovation, technology and ... science fiction. And since (almost) nothing is impossible, they decided to make their dreams come true: design fun, trendy and very high quality products.
The WAAN lightsaber is therefore a perfect example of the merging of passion and technology.
Why Kickstarter ? WAAN lightsaber has been conceived as a side project by our R&D team. We worked on this project for more than two years, mainly in our spare time. Our original goal wasn't to release a commercial product, but only to assemble a few of them for our kids, friends and fellow fans of intergalactic wars. Their amazing reactions when we showed them our prototypes gradually convinced us that we have achieved something truly special, superior to other similar products already available on the market. Some of our co-workers think WAAN can generate a lot of interests all over the world. They also suggested to start a crowdfunding campaign and we agreed almost immediately! Currently, we don't have enough funds to start a mass production to reduce costs.
That's why the future of WAAN is now in your hands.
We understand and acknowledge that no project comes without risks and challenges. Despite our planning, there are circumstances that may be beyond our control. If we are confronted by such events, we promise to communicate with full transparency to you, our backers, and work to resolve all issues in a timely manner.
