About this project
In a world covered in toxic poison and controlled by the shadowy elite, young upstart Danny Diaz finally got his break in life - a new job, a new town and plenty of perks! But things start to sour on his first day as he involuntarily becomes a spectator to a terrifying mutiny. When Danny unexpectedly stumbles upon Sri, one of the last surviving members of the Moura race, he begins to uncover a plot that runs all the way through the fractured society of Tierrania. Through Sol Binding, Danny is able to harbor Sri inside of him and utilize her impressive abilities as the two explore the outdoors for the first time in their lives.
Although he’s only spoken to his long-time friends The Radioactives via his self-made radio Survival Watch, Danny knows he can count on them. Journeying to their isolated shelters, interacting with unique communities and finally meeting The Radioactives, Danny and Sri seek their invaluable expertise to help save the people of Tierrania and Moura alike.
Sol Bound is a 2D pixel action-adventure game. As Danny, you fuse together with Sri to access an array of unique powers to solve puzzles and fight dangerous Desvario - the monsters that thrive on Tierrania’s spoiled land. With Sri inside of you, you’re able to manipulate an invisible current called Sol, an energy which pulses through all living creatures.
Having sol at your disposal allows you to shoot electricity from you hand, leap high in the air, even transfer Sri to other lifeforms. Along your journey, explore a whole new world, meet a recovering society full of quirky characters and work with your network to unravel the sinister past that lead to Tierrania’s decline.
Like most action adventure games, you’ll encounter the story driven puzzles, enemies and dungeons you’ve come to expect - but aside from our fun game mechanics and unique storyline what exactly makes Sol Bound stand out from other action-adventure games?
Being the diverse Latin team we are, meant that we wanted to infuse our culture, our customs and especially our food into Tierrania. While you won't need to be reaching for a Spanish dictionary to play Sol Bound, you’re sure to experience a world you’ve never encountered before!

Engaging with our backers is important to us, so for the duration of our Kickstarter campaign we will provide backers updates twice a week, and upon success, monthly development updates! Our campaign updates will reveal more about Sol Bound, like audio samples from Jav's Adventuring Mix, visual samples from Lazaro's Art Book, and an in-depth dive into our game mechanics!
Reaching $160k would be this little studio's dream come true! Our current goal is just enough to keep the core team afloat for the duration of the project. $160k would empower us to rent out an affordable office space, allow us to ditch Skype and finally gather the team together to work on this project full time. Over all, having more people on the team means less delays, higher quality work and happy devs!
Additionally Crowquetica (Crow-keh-tee-kah) Games is dedicated to giving back to our local community. Upon success of our first release, our mission is to not only continue making ridiculously fun games, but to provide opportunities to students and graduates in New York City who have passion and talent for game development but lack the resources or opportunities to follow their dream.
Reaching 200k or more means that Crowquetica Games can dedicate more time to making the world of Tierrania even more complex, beautiful and fun! Depending on how much we raise past $200k, here are our goals for a better funded Sol Bound.
- A "Crafting System" wherein Danny can cook all sorts of dishes, including some real life recipes you can try at home - Many from our Mamis, Tias and Abuelas!

Risks and challenges
Our passion level is at 100%, but passion alone does not a videogame make. Investing in a Kickstarter is like investing in a small business: it takes risk on our part as well as yours. Most of our team has worked at small studios, startups, even kickstarted ventures so we're well aware of what can go wrong. We've gone through the growing pains of freshly hatched studios first hand, countless times being victims of that very inexperience.
Crowquetica Games was built because we love working in small teams, but were tired of the inefficiency, lack of organization and lack of stability found at many startups. We've already taken these hard lessons to heart with our approach to project management, team building, and how to manage our resources.
One of Crowquetica's biggest assets is our network of allies. Working in game and tech spaces in New York City means that some of our teammates have had the chance to work with or learn from veterans from Microsoft, Avalanche Studios, Zynga and much more! Additionally, thanks to the many local resources available to us, like a bustling developer community, Unity workshops, and frequent game developer events being hosted across the city, it's not too difficult for us to get the help, advice or feedback we need to make Sol Bound a solid, fun game!
