About this project
Check out www.soilfilm.com for updates.
Soil. A basic building block of life that ultimately creates potential for growth. From the soil, a town is formed. It’s filled with diners, churches and hardware stores, but above all things, people. At the heart of a small town is passion. Whether it’s towards a specific craft or activity, it’s passion towards the surroundings that turn a town into a home. Through the everyday lives of three individuals, this film will create a portrait of a community. The story focuses not only on the people that keep the community going, but the shared connections these people have to their home.
Our vision for this film is to create documentary/narrative hybrid that creates a portrait of a small Southern Illinois town. While it will display the beautiful scenic land and locations in Southern Illinois, it will focus on what's really important about a community, the people. The name of the project is "SOIL", a subtle reference to not only Southern Illinois' nickname SO ILL, but also the overarching theme of home and growth.
We have been very lucky to have been given the opportunity to shoot this film on the RED One Digital Cinema Camera. Visit http://www.red.com/products/red-one for more information about what the camera can do.
