The artist Fox Amoore has been composing and performing music for more than ten years. His signature New-Age/Orchestral style has found its way into video games, stage productions, and countless standing-room-only performances worldwide. With seven full length albums, including two recorded at Abbey Road Studios with world class orchestras, fans have been clamoring for the opportunity to learn to play his music for themselves.
Sofawolf Press is delighted for the opportunity to help him bring this project to fruition. This Kickstarter campaign will help us determine product demand, pay for the art and music transcription, and help us improve the quality of the final product.
The music has been arranged for piano and professionally transcribed for printing. The paper will be heavy white opaque bond, and the book will be assembled with a lay-flat coil binding for easy reading.
The book features the following twelve (or more) songs from a variety of Fox Amoore's albums and singles, and providing a variety of levels of playing challenge.
- A Million Lights
- The Forest
- A Wolf With No Name
- Dreaming of Scotland
- Stone Throne
- The Beaten Path
- Dreaming of You
- The Celestial's Ball
- The Shore
- Come Find Me
Cover art by Rukis. Approximately 50 pages.
We will also be providing a PDF copy of the book at all levels $10 and up, for those who prefer reading sheet music from their tablet.
At the $40 level we will also include a CD of the songs from the book, performed by Fox Amoore on the piano exclusively for the Kickstarter, so that you can follow along while you practice.
UPDATE: We have added levels for JUST the CD and also JUST the songs as a digital download. Both of these will also be available as Add-Ons during the Backer Survey process in case you want to get extra copies or add the digital download on to one of the book-only levels.
- You can either increase your pledge by the appropriate amount ($15 for the CD, $5 for the digital download) now and you can apply this amount as a credit when you fill out your survey
- OR you can wait and add extra funds when you fill out your survey.
Pickup at MFF?
There are two special versions of the $25 and $40 levels which you can choose if you will be attending Midwest FurFest in Rosemont, IL in December. These levels charge no shipping, but are otherwise identical to the regular levels.
If you think you are PROBABLY attending the convention but are not positive, go ahead and select one of these two levels. If you end up not going you will be able to add on money to cover shipping later when we send the backer surveys. (And it is a lot easier to charge money later than it is to try and refund it!)
Once we get close to hitting our funding level we will begin announcing our stretch goal levels, which will help make the final product better for everyone. Some of our plans include adding color artwork, adding more material, and embellishments to the printed book.
We might also release new levels with exclusive, one-of-a-kind rewards. So, keep your eye out for campaign updates!
A Note from the Artist
It's been ten years now for me releasing music as Fox Amoore -- an exciting journey of video game soundtracks, music videos, endless amounts of conventions and concerts and two Abbey Road albums featuring world class orchestras. People have asked me about this idea constantly, both online, at concerts and in restaurants (and maybe a pub or two.) At long last, it gives me great pleasure to announce that, in collaboration with Sofawolf, I can release my first ever piano music book.
If you have enjoyed my music, please help me make this happen... And thank you for the insane support you have given me over these years. ^^
As we finish out the last week of the campaign, I asked Fox Amoore to write up a little bit of background on the songs he selected for the volume. Here is his response:
I'm very fortunate to be living in a beautiful country - Scotland. Even more so, I live only a two- minute walk away from the shoreline. I would often go (weather permitting, which is a lot to ask in Scotland) down to the shore and simply close my eyes and listen to the waves, the wind and the water swirls. It starts off slow and gradually builds until all of a sudden there's this huge symphony of nature. Similar to the build ups in The Shore: you hear the waves, the builds, the wind... until everything has been brought together in unison at the end. Then, once everything calms down, you open your eyes.
Come Find Me
Originally written for a couple's love for one another, Come Find Me is probably one of my most romantic pieces. This was a piece that I hadn't intended on releasing, yet I shared with Shay and EZWolf, two very close friends of mine. I had no idea that this song would be the song that would send me on an incredible journey to record an album at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios in London. The song starts slow, ominous and lonesome. It’s the story of someone looking for that purpose, that one person. It builds, the song becomes adventurous as they search through the lands. During the whole song it teaches the lesson of the journey itself rather than how it ends, since things like that never really do. We're always moving, searching, exploring. It’s one of the fundamental things in life, one of the most basic instincts. Come Find Me is about our instinct to explore, to enrich our minds about the amazing world around us. Find the journey.
One of the most amazing things about the furry fandom is the number of talented artists; but this person especially stands out with her style and ability to create breathtaking worlds by a mere stroke of a brush or a glide of a pencil. AlectorFencer has inspired a lot of my work, especially in relation to Myre, her very recent comic release about a character that explores a vast, beautiful yet turbulent world. I wrote this piece as a soundtrack to that and sent it to her. From there we developed a very deep friendship and a fountain of inspiration to work together on. A single violin shows the nature of her travel alone, whilst the orchestra, huge, intimidating yet beautiful, accompanies her adventure. It still stands to this day one of my most proud and popular pieces.
One of my earliest pieces under the Fox Amoore name, Sunset is the opening track on my first album: The Ballad of Midnight. The album itself revolves around foxes and how they inspire me. This track in particular is when we're more likely to see the lil’ fluff balls... at Sunset when they're waking up! The Piano takes you through the waiting outside, until the moment where you see them in the middle where the orchestra builds. Cute, beautiful and with such a significant presence in folk lore. Foxes... are inspiring.
The Celestial's Ball
Written as a gift for a friend, The Celestial's Ball is about an eastern dragon with the power of storms. It features some traditional Chinese instruments such as the Erhu (kinda like the violin except... Eastern) and the Guzheng. One of my ambitions one day is to go to China and learn and collect some of their beautiful instruments. This is one of the few songs that features a little hint of EDM in the original track. You'll hear some electronic swooshes and FX, as well as a sort of cliché dubstep-styled electronic drum kit. The string section is huge, approximately a hundred string instruments altogether to give it that really bombastic over the top sound. It’s a dragon, he's powerful, he's big. Despite all this it still works wonderfully well as a piano solo, which is why I am proud to have this as part of the book's song list.
Risks and challenges
This is our fifth Kickstarter campaign and we are pretty much pros at it by now. All the material for the book is completed and ready for layout and printing, so as long as we get the funding for the print run, it is going to happen.
It's always possible that some delay will pop up unexpectedly, but we're prepared to handle just about anything.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
