This is the Kickstarter page for Sockstash's launch collection. Thanks to all your support, we were able to raise over 200% of our funding goal!

The clothing we wear every day is an expression of our own unique identities. And yet, when it comes to socks, most people are stuck in the Stone Age, wearing bland, flavorless socks. Even when you do buy a pair of colorful or patterned socks, they are often low-quality, mass- produced designs that fade quickly and wear out.
Inspired by this dilemma, we founded Sockstash, a platform where designers can create and crowdsource unique sock designs to be produced in limited runs - all while helping those less fortunate in the process. Whether you’re sitting at work or running in a 5k, your socks need to be reflective of who you are - and with Sockstash, we can make that a reality.
Step up your stash. Sockstash brings you designs that are guaranteed to stand out from the crowd. Each design is crowdsourced, and every purchase comes with a matching donation to the Los Angeles LGBT youth center for homeless teens.
Sockstash is more than just a traditional sock company. We are a platform where artists and designers can crowdsource the creation of their ideas. We encourage any and all designers to give it a shot - whether you’re someone who draws fan art for fun or a seasoned clothing designer looking to expand your portfolio.
We then take the submissions, filter them for quality and content, and create a 3D mockup of what the sock will look like. Once that has been approved by the artist, we’ll make a physical pre-production sample pair.
At the beginning of each month, the approved socks will be available for pre-order. If they reach at least 100 pre-orders by the end of the month, they will be made into a full production run. If not, 100% of the pledged money will be returned to the backers.
We leave the design creativity in the hands of the artist, and share $2 of each pair sold with them - with no cap on their earning potential. This is double what other sites offer artists for different apparel items.

With Sockstash, we wanted to do more than just sell socks - we wanted to give something back to the world. So we chose the Los Angeles LGBT Youth Center to provide a donated pair of thick, cotton socks for each pair we sell.
According to the National Coalition For the Homeless, amongst the general population, 5% of youth identify as LGBT - but amongst homeless youth, this number jumps 8-fold, with 40% identifying as LGBT.
This group of the population is one of the most vulnerable, and needs our help.
We researched what was available in the market right now, and everything is either screen printed (which fades and chips away with each wash) or made with low-quality materials that distort the designs when worn. We had to search for just the right partner that could guarantee our quality, while still allowing the complexity we know the best designs require.
We care about the quality of our socks, from the design process all the way to manufacturing. That’s why the decided to forego screen printing, and instead sew the actual designs into the socks. This is a more expensive and time consuming process, but the results are worth it - our designs look sharper, and won’t crack and fade after a few washes.
In addition to being awesomely designed, our socks are made to be incredibly comfortable. Our unique blend of cotton, polyester and spandex is specifically formulated to maximize comfort, while maintaining durability and quality of the designs. Each time you slip on your socks, you’ll have that same feeling of comfort and satisfaction - whether it's the first time you're wearing them, or countless washes after.
Sockstash was born out of a frustration. A frustration with the ordinary- with cookie-cutter designs. Frustration for designers who have under appreciated talent. We figured that if we felt this frustration, other people did too. So we took that frustration, and made Sockstash - and haven't looked back since.
Sockstash is much more than a traditional sock company. We are a platform that allows artists to bring their unique designs and transformative parody to an entirely under appreciated piece of clothing that we use almost every day.
The Sock Squad
The Support Squad
Sockstash is a startup focused on changing how we view socks as an apparel category for fans and designers alike. We wanted to start more than a clothing company. We wanted to create a platform where people could express their ideas, and help out others while doing it. We truly believe that everyone should express their uniqueness, and it is our goal to help each and every person express their own identity.
Sockstash is a new type of company - and to launch, we wanted to do something new too. The usual model of manufacturing is too expensive for a small town startup brand like ours, and as such we wanted to start on Kickstarter.
By launching our first collection through Kickstarter, a new brand like ours is able to raise the funds needed to make a large production run of socks, and bring costs and prices down to reasonable levels.
The funds that we raise through the campaign will be used for the production, manufacturing, and shipping of our launch collection, as well as to help the company grow and develop new socks in the future.
Risks and challenges
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” - Helen Keller
While these are words to live by, they might not be the approach you want to take with the Kickstarter campaigns you choose to support. Rest assured - when Sockstash becomes fully funded, we will do everything in our power to stick to our timeline as outlined above. We’ve spent hundreds of hours developing, testing, and perfecting our sourcing & delivery process, and with numerous samples made and vetted for quality, we are certain we’ll be able to deliver a quality product to our backers.
The biggest risks relate to delays in fulfillment - not fulfillment itself. These concerns are primarily the time needed for production, logistical hurdles with transoceanic shipping, and fulfillment time before delivering the socks. We’ve taken every possible precaution in mitigating these risks, and feel confident the results of the campaign will show that.
Aside from those issues, we cannot foresee any direct challenges or risks - but the process of starting this business has shown that life is always full of surprises. We’re confident that our diverse skill-sets will allow us to effectively manage any issues that arise, and promise to run the campaign with complete transparency and frequent communication.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
