We have a few issues we're trying to resolve with the work flow, so we've temporarily halted the Schedule Reports until we can get that sorted. In the meantime however, we'd thought we'd give you a visual update on our leading troll.
And boy is he handsome...
Below are some images of the work in progress that has gone into Mica (spoilers below). Although we had a functional model of him from the last iteration of the film, we've had to rebuild him from the ground up taking into account the new 2K resolution we shot in (originally we shot in DV), and the major software / hardware jumps we've had over the past eleven years.
And all this work has been overseen by just one man.
Christian Bloch is an extremely talented VES Award Winning VFX artist residing in LA, who has been involved with the project since our very early days of inception. Breathing life into Mica has been completely his responsibility, and we're extremely proud and fortunate to have him involved with the project. Clearly he is also a massive Discworld fan.
Although the troll model and rigging is still being refined, please enjoy some of the work in progress pictures and videos below. A visual history of the character thus far, if you will. We'll resume our Schedule Reporting shortly. :)
We'll get some higher resolution images of these up via the usual social media channels tomorrow. The sizing here really does them no justice.
Oh yeah... Snowgum Films also turned eleven on the 18th of March in a move that completely took us by surprise. Eleven years marked from our first day location scouting for this film. Eleven years spent with some of the best and most hard working cast, crew and supporters we could ever hope to meet.
We love you all!
