ArtWalk HQ is excited about the last week of the Kickstarter! We’re confident we can do it! We have some screenshots from the newest version for you: the update includes walking paths and our custom illustrations!
What are we making?
We are creating an iPhone app that will allow anyone to explore the city from a new perspective.
We’re already giving immersive walking tours around SoHo and the Bowery in New York, but we want to make this experience even more accessible with an app.
If you’re in New York, you’ve walked past the blue wall with green beams on Broadway and Houston. Ever wondered why it’s there or how it’s connected to the museum on the moon? Is there a museum on the moon? Those are the questions we want to answer and the stories we want to tell.
The app will be free to download and allow you to access sight information in specific neighborhoods for a fee.
Each neighborhood consists of 20+ stories, made up of an illustration, original text, a map, references and further reading. We’re working on two neighborhoods, which will be part of the 1st version. Initial access will allow you to preview the stories, with the option to purchase each neighborhood’s full tour for $2.99.
More neighborhoods will be added as they are developed.
Why we need your support
We’ve built a working prototype of the app, but are missing a few crucial features before we can launch. To make the app really awesome and an immersive experience we want to write original content and create beautiful illustrations for each sight and story.
We want to be able to pay everyone involved in the project. So far Sascha has funded everything himself but to get to the next level we need your support. The money will go to our coder, writer and illustrator first and foremost – the rest of the money will go towards interns, researching more sights, promotion, the audio experience and going global. There isn't a city that doesn't have stories to tell, and we'd like to discover all of them for you!
Who is making all this
Sascha studied Art and Design at the Cooper Union in New York, worked at NYTimes and Google before starting his own design studio. He has spent the past eight years exploring the city’s many art and architectural treasures. As an obsessive explorer and investigator, he thrives on discovering little known facts about the place he lives and sharing them with others. As a designer, he is most fulfilled when information is organized beautifully. These traits are what helped get ArtWalk started.
Anastasija lived all over the world, but loves New York the most. For the past 6 years, she's worked at a global concierge company, making certain that clients get the most out of their city, and is now ensuring that operations at ArtWalk run smoothly.
Luke is a developer with a passion for beautiful things. He currently lives on the sunny Mediterranean island of Malta where he earned his Bachelors degree in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. Luke lifts weights on Mondays and owns a purple ukulele.
Dio was born in Mexico and moved to New York when he was fourteen. He studied architecture at the Cooper Union and has always had a passion for drawing and painting. Using his expertise in architecture and his artist’s eye, Dio is in charge of illustrating the city's many hidden wonders.

Risks and challenges
This project is very low risk. We have a working prototype of the app, and a developer who is ready to put the finishing touches on it. We’re confident in our content, thanks to feedback from 2 years of giving walking tours around SoHo and the Bowery in New York. The research for further walks is in progress and we’ve done it before, so we know how to do it again.
Your support will allow us to successfully launch the first version of the app and start working on adding more content.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
