Since the original SmartThings hub doesn't work with the Amazon Echo (Alexa), I have been contemplating buying the latest generation hub. But as a Kickstarter backer, we get lifetime free monthly service. Can I continue that free service with a new hub?
This was and is probably the best thing i've ever funded on KS. Used it regiliously for over 3 years??? Great invention and concept. Many thx :)
Well mine did finally arrive today, so nice to see it after waiting 2+ years.
Now the only problem is it doesn't work with my LIFX or LimitedLED lights :(
@Gremlin - I suggest you contact them directly via either e-mail ( firstname.lastname@example.org ) or the SmartThings forums ( http://community.smartthings.com/ ). There are several SmartThings representatives who are quite active on their forums.
Still no sign of a shipping email here :(
FYI - for those still awaiting a shipping notification - SmartThings tells me that rewards for all of the backers in NZ/AU who have completed their surveys will have been shipped out by the end of this week.

@Dan Panetta There has been a fair bit of discussion about SmartThings and HomeKit over on the SmartThings community forums:
Summary is the Samsung buyout is not constraining them and HomeKit is definitely on their radar, but I'm not sure where it sits on the priority list - they have a lot of stuff in train at the moment.
Finally got hub today and started to setup find some devices won't add or say they are paired (led light indicator) but not come up on hub. Also seems very slow.
Any word on this working with Apple's HomeKit? Or did a Samsung acquisition kill that possibility?

A bit disappointing.
So, its now over two weeks and all we can see is one person has their shipment on the way.
I'll reiterate my request from the 26th of September - could we please get a count of how many AU/NZ have shipped and how many remain?
In the absence of any other information this will at least give those of use still awaiting shipping notifications some idea of how the process is going and how long we may need to wait.

As of the 5th October package is within Australia now just waiting for it to be delivered

@Ashley Smith - I normally expect about 10 days for airmail items from the USA. It will usually spend two or three days floating around various USPS sites but once it leaves their international gateway you won't see any events for many days. If you get events from Australia Post then quite often the first event you'll see will be on the day you receive it or maybe the day before.
Have just tracked my hub and it's spent the last week traveling the USPS facilities in the USA how long does it take to get a parcel out of the USA
A week has passed and only one person has chimed in to let us know they've received their shipping e-mail??? Come on people, there must be more of you out there!

Woo got email to say that my smartthings has been shipped only took 2 year to the day to get to this point.
I've created a thread on the SmartThings Community Forums for AU/NZ backers to post about their delivery, e.g. when you get your shipment notification, when you get your delivery, etc.

AU/NZ shipments are going out now. We are shipping via USPS First Class International to avoid brokerage fees. You will receive links to track your delivery shortly after they are sent. Thanks again for your tremendous patience and support!
A couple of other questions re: AU/NZ shipments (in addition to the ETA request from Ashley, below):
- Which carrier will you be using (e.g. USPS, DHL, FedEx, UPS, etc.). Knowing this will give us an idea as to how the final (to the door) delivery will be handled.
- Will you be e-mailing us shipment tracking numbers? (Again, allows us to better predict / handle the final leg of delivery).

Could you please provide another update for Aus/NZ backers?
A bit over two weeks ago you were QA'ing; how well is that progressing and when do you expect to start shipping? How long do you expect the picking/packing/shipping to take once it does begin?
If one staff member could spend five minutes once a week providing a brief status update for us it would make a lot of people a lot happier...
It would be best if those updates contained quantifiable details such as "in four weeks" rather than demonstrably meaningless terms like "soon" or "shortly thereafter". I understand your reluctance to specify dates given the propensity to receive a lambasting when those dates slip, but after two years I still have no idea whether you'll be shipping next week, next month or sometime shortly before Christmas. This perpetual sense of limbo is quite frustrating.
It's been years.. received nothing. I would like a refund on the money + interest. I'd have no problem raising a civil suit at this point.
Sorry about the last rant. I'm just disappointed, frustrated and upset that it has been 2 years.

I am writing to you to express my disappointment.
I backed you project on Kickstarter on the 23rd August 2012.
I have been patient, waiting for my smartthings to arrive.
I understand there may not have been as much interest from Australia, so it gets harder to produce.
But if you are going to offer a product and a deadline, you should at least be close to that date.
In 8 days time, I have waited 2 YEARS! and you still can't give me a clear delivery date.
But you are able to send me an email informing me that you have sold out to Samsung.
If you put a little more effort into producing your product and not selling your company we might all have our Kickstarter packages delivered.
I know you have offered free shipping to International backers. But that is not a good enough repayment for people left waiting that long.
The interest you would have earned sitting on our pledge money for 2 years works out to more than that.
Not to mention all the extra money people payed for "things" that you can't produce for their country. (power adapters)
I would love to hear a firm delivery plan from you asap. And I am sure a lot of other people would too.
I just got an email telling me that Smartthings is being purchased by Samsung and the claim is that it will be operated as an independent company. I have not seen this "independence" last long for companies like Samsung.
I am sad to see a small company disappear into the morass of a huge conglomerate. But, I speculate that it is financially equitable for the Smartthings people.
Time to find/source replacement for my Smartthings as they will likely be tariff-ed or discontinued.

by the way maybe you should look on other different supporting models and platforms, the ones that we back when they are still a startup but get a share of the profit when they also make huge profit with our money.... is indeed food for thought and this is simply disgusting when we hear that Samsung buys out smart-thing for 200million and you still not receive yet your product....
I love the idea of smartings like the majority of the 5,694 backers, but as many we feel used to say the least...
what we see is a company getting first our money, then release some products and get external funding and traction for their marketing talk (yeah talking is easy...) and probably like some companies that started here behind curtains negotiation takes place and probably in a year or less we hear of a multimillionaire sell out which only them get rich and us left wonder...
after 2 years if nothing else we should get compensation 2 kits for the price of one for example otherwise what's the point to back you?! if i have waited with my money i would probably get almost the same price if not the same price of the rest of the world and i wouldn' t spend money 2 years a go.... something is wrong here in kickstarter... i guess passing the mark of 1 year of delays is already too much but 2 years... what's next a third year?!?!

sometimes if we all really care and not forgot with age i would say smart things are really a bad example of what it should not happen. here at kickstarter....(yeah i know there are even some that do not deliver at all even with delays...).
here in Portugal/Europe i have yet to get mine and we are in the mid of the year 2014, this is so outrageous if we think clear and even if we give all the excuses for not having one in my hands... after all i have just remembered that when i pledged and supported SMARThings they said the estimate deliver would be DECEMBER 2012 ;)
almost 2 years later i still dream about that promise as probably the most of us....
PEOPLE forget easily who they got support from once they are sold with huge profits, have their money in their accounts or even their business are rolling in one way or the other... i guess i should have some company shares for such huge wait and support ;)
I received my EU kit here in Saudi Arabia two weeks ago... Although the kit was not beautifully packed as the US kit (in a simple box), it's perfect, ! So easy to install and really has a fast response (iPhone notification).
However, the kit without an outlet or an official list of EU 3rd parties' compatible things is really not complete!
All in all, Worth the waiting time!
Still waiting, the Netherlands. No response to my comment, no response to my mail. I even thought about selling this product in Holland, but I better do not. With such a service and lack of communication....
