This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Wed, August 21 2019 5:30 AM UTC +00:00.
A solid controller for your smart home, garage, office. Nothing to install; it just works!
Adds Timers and much more to IFTTT. Unique features like email reminders of payments and meetings to clients, birthday greetings for friends and family, incoming email parsing. Super affordable, stable, easy-to-use.
"Shut up and take my money": for just $20 add unlimited devices to your account. Includes unlimited On-Off operations via SMRT.casa interface (grandma-easy, teen-cool design.). Automation: includes up to 20 processes running on our servers simultaneously. Examples: you set 3 weekly payment reminders to your clients by email, 10 yearly Birthday greetings to friends and family by email, 2 sprinklers and a basement dehumidifier running on auto loops, AC program, bedroom humidifier on a loop, robot vacuum on schedule, electric vehicle or scooter charger timer. Any 20 time/date-based automations at any time are included! Need more? - upgrade to another reward level and never worry. Higher reward levels save you more money.
And now the details:
Your Smart Home is actually pretty dumb. Let's fix that!
It's not you, it's the setup. The setup is just too complex.
Who has the time or inclination to fiddle with tons of different brands, settings, and scenarios? Even if you are a die-hard Smart Home enthusiast, do you really want to come home from work and start writing some more code just to have your light bulb automated? Okay, maybe the die-hards would; but even they need a break now and then.
Imagine this: your devices somehow started working together intelligently. Not just by the "smart" name on the box, but in reality. Wouldn't that be wonderful!
The ideal Smart Home controller
Such an ideal system would be quick and simple to set up with a wide range of connected devices while allowing much flexibility. It would have an easy setup wizard in case you needed something done in a jiffy. At the same time, it would allow granular control over every device, should you decide to unleash your inner tinkerer. And it would work absolutely everywhere (not just on rPi server... just saying...). Your home controller would securely work on every smartphone, PC, Mac, tablet, Kindle, anything connected to the Internet. From anywhere in the world. At any time of your choosing. Because nothing is more annoying than leaving for a vacation in Paris and suddenly remembering you didn't turn off that AC in your Arizona house.
Is this some utopian vision, or can it be achieved with this Kickstarter?
The good news:
It actually can happen, with your support!
We have designed the easiest-to-use system to help you set up your connected devices. Moreover, it is full-featured with rich functionality and compatibility with virtually every connected device. It is super affordable, too (plus: save even more money with this special Kickstarter-only double bonus offer!)
There's nothing to install or maintain. Smart Casa just works for you.
Make Your Casa Smart Again! (take this tongue-in-cheek reference as a jab or a homage, your call.)
This one is pretty smart, you know
smRt it is. See, we tried many names. For instance, "your-smart-home-controller" sounded technically correct but a bit tedious to type as a web address. So we settled on the name that is short and sweet. Nope, it ain't shawty. Let us introduce you to your intelligent home/garage/office controller:
See what we did there? Smart Casa. Sweet and intelligent. And boy, is it short and easy to type in your web browser. SMRT.casa has a well-designed web interface and it works in any browser.
Remember the specs of an ideal system? (flashback: it should work absolutely everywhere. On every smartphone, PC, Mac, tablet, Kindle, anything connected with the Internet.)
What can SMRT.casa do for you
The usual stuff - plus some pretty awesome, exciting, unique stuff!
- easily monitor (is my AC still on?) and intelligently control your home devices (turn my lights on/off in a random pattern to ward off the bad guys while you are on vacation or just out of your home/office). Of course, besides intelligent automation, the simple turn On/Off operations are always available at a button click as well, from anywhere in the world.
- integrations via IFTTT and directly with some API-enabled devices
- set automation with timers (start charging my electric scooter at 14:30, then turn off after 2 hours) and logic (if a new client email is received, blink my office desk light twice). Did you know... neither IFTTT nor Google Assistant has any timers? SMRT.casa fixes that for you.
- easily see and change any settings at any time;
- parse emails sent or forwarded to your unique SMRT.casa address. You set the keyword-based rules in the message's Subject and Body (endless possibilities here; think Zapier built-in at no additional cost);
- send out email reminders on-schedule (payment reminders to the clients; birthday greetings to your loved ones, etc. With the email-to-SMS gateway, this may also become SMS as well.)
- all this and more, from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection.
Secure account, private server, NO sharing of your personal information. In fact, only a bare minimum of your info is ever kept - just enough for servicing your account, and it is promptly encrypted... both on the way to our system and on our server.
Religious email support. The meaningful one, you know, not just bouncing you off and blaming you for everything like some others do. We want you to be happy with SMRT.casa
Oh, and SMRT.casa works on anything - smartphones, tablets, desktops, Kindle, Mac, PC, iOS, Android, Linux... literally on anything with a web browser. There is nothing for you to install or maintain - just log in to your SMRT.casa and voila. Control or monitor your home, garage, office from anywhere in the world, any time.
Log in / Interface Demo as of now:
Why SMRT.casa is better
- It does work when everything else fails. SMRT.casa keeps working even if your local Internet or your electricity (gasp!) is out. Email parse/send service, as well as all other online services in SMRT.casa will keep functioning as-scheduled. Your clients and important contacts will be notified as if nothing happened, and your cash flow / data flow will continue as normal.
- Unlimited, secure access anytime, from anywhere. What if you are NOT on the smartphone where your app is installed? What if you are NOT next to your home automation hub's screen? Bummer. On contrast, SMRT.casa is accessible anytime, from any device with Internet access, anywhere in the world. No need to be glued to any particular gizmo.
- Easy to set up, easy to make changes. Feels like you have to be a nuclear scientist to set up your smart home? No more! SMRT.casa lets you set up everything very easily. Making changes, as well as monitoring your things, are equally easy and intelligent with SMRT.casa - our interface is specifically designed for simplicity of operation.
- Clearly see what is going on at any particular time. SMRT.casa gives you both an overview and granular real-time monitoring of your devices' states and what they are programmed to do next.
- Available in your language. Hi! Bonjour! Hallo! Привіт! SMRT.casa is available in multiple languages, with ALL of its features/labels localized. (Coming up; English available by default right now.)
- Unique features: email parsing - SMRT.casa detects and acts upon any keywords you set up as triggers. Other services charge you an arm and a leg for the email parsing, but with SMRT.casa this feature is built-in!
- Unique features: email reminders. Shoot out email notifications to your clients with meeting or payment reminders. Friends and family birthday greetings - never forget the date as SMRT.casa will send them out automatically on the schedule you have pre-set! Set them up easily, choose the frequency and the message, then pause/restart/delete as you please. There are other companies that only offer this one task - and charge you for it - while this is a built-in SMRT.casa feature! Awesome!
- And more.
We take care of the tech. You enjoy your smart life.
Fuck the cloud!
...um, well, I dunno. Let's talk about this one for a sec. Take something as familiar as email, for instance. An email? Aren't we talking about the smart home? Yup. Stay with me, you'll see the connection momentarily.
I don't know about you but neither of us here have an in-house email server. All our email needs are covered by the cloud-based service providers. No-one is complaining or getting spooked by this fact - it is just a given. And boy, you should see some private stuff that gets sent by email. So then, it's okay to rely on some cloud-based service for such an important thing as email.
And don't get me started on electricity, mobile communications, etc. etc. - none of them are managed as your private in-house system, either. Unless you are a country president or an Amish, that is.
Is this just a question of habit? Email is ubiquitous, therefore we never question why is it cloud-based. We don't feel threatened by the perceived lack of privacy, possible leaks, or an occasional interruption of service. We know from experience that all such events are exceedingly rare, so we are not really forced to build and maintain a private email server in-house to mitigate any of those factors. In fact, most would consider such proposition to be utterly ridiculous.
Then why are we so threatened by a cloud-based home control system? You know, it does have all the advantages of, say, a cloud-based email that we all successfully utilize for many years already. (I told you there was a connection, didn't I.)
Surely you can stay local with anything, including building and maintaining your own home automation server - but how local can it really be when the APIs of your devices still go through the servers in China?
Well-behaved cloud is good for you
We really think that since the Internet-based (cloud) services are good enough for regular folks and big businesses-alike to rely on in their everyday tasks, from email to online software suites, then they also should be perfectly fine in a smart home controller.
Please support SMRT.casa - it provides you with a fine service without the need to install or maintain anything locally! And that's a good thing. You have better ways to spend your time. Please watch the video to see how it works. Make a pledge.
All I heard was blah blah. I want my privacy!
And we are taking your privacy most seriously. We do care. After all, we are already running our own homes and offices on SMRT.casa as we speak, so we do have a vested interest in the privacy of this system!
Firstly: no private, identifiable information is kept by SMRT.casa, ever.
SMRT.casa has time-proven data protection techniques in place to protect your privacy.
No-one will know your real name. You can use any name you want, for example just your first name or an alias. This has no bearing on SMRT.casa functionality at all. And whatever you enter, your name will be encrypted in our records anyway. Both your email and your account password are also encrypted in SMRT.casa so if the database leak occurs (which is unlikely), all the data scrambled by our encryption will be totally unreadable. (BTW, your email is considered public information anyway... we are just making sure it does NOT become public by us.)
We will NOT know where you live. Moreover, we will NOT know any of the locations where you are using SMART.casa. In fact, you could not enter your address if you wanted to since there's no such field in your SMRT.casa account.
We never know or record your full payment information; just the date and amount go into your account for bookkeeping.
As you can see. we take great care of your privacy by not knowing who/where you are, and by encrypting the little we do know. All interactions between you and our system are also SSL-protected, so as your data travels in-between, it is getting securely encrypted.
The evils of marketing: no worries, either! Your email address is safe with us, as well as your SMRT.casa logs, even as they are anonymized: we will not sell or disclose any of it to anyone, that's our promise. You are not paying us with your data; rather, we just ask you for the very minimum amount that allows us to sustain this system for you. Refreshing to know your data is not being mined, isn't it?
Don't be afraid of the cloud - if it is SMRT.casa cloud!

Wait, why do we need SMRT.casa if there's a free IFTTT?
You probably already know the answer if you actually tried IFTTT (which we love, by the way!) In IFTTT, there are no timers; there's no email parsing or scheduled reminders; there's no way to make complex automation; and on. On contrast, SMRT.casa provides all that plus we are planning on making our own API bridges to the popular devices and services, making your smart home/business control and monitoring abilities even more flexible and more independent.
Is SMRT.casa easy to use?
SMRT.casa is designed to be easy and clear to anyone, even to the non-technical people. My mom uses it. 'Nuff said.
- Running this crowdsourcing project and collecting funds: up to Sep 15
- Releasing the fully-working public version of SMRT.casa to you: Sep 30
Unlike other projects, you get a very little wait with us!
Can we actually deliver?
Yes. A large range of projects very successfully delivered to a number of important clients in the last 25 years. We were trailblazing web design since the dawn of the Internet's mass appeal (the year 1995) and the first interactive Web 1.0 projects since 1999. Never stopped developing ever since. You can say we know what we are doing.
SMRT.casa is our favorite project, so rest assured you will enjoy the best of the contemporary functionality.
Besides, much of the work is already done - see the demo! Let's make the final push with your help now.
While the SMRT.casa system is already live and working fine for us and some other early adopters, we still need to put together the parts needed for the public release. Such as, polish the looks of the account creation page, the smart procedures, and other system blocks. Right now they do work in the "hardwired" mode. This Kickstarter will allow us to finalize their development with the nice-looking, convenient interface you will love to use.
Domain transfer from the provisional one (controlfu.com) to SMRT.casa - it takes some money and effort, too.
Paying off the partial costs of up-to-date development (we have already covered 90% of its cost ourselves out-of-pocket) and part of the domain names and server/DNS setup costs.
How much you can save:
With this special Kickstarter, your yearly cost can be as low as just $1.60/month ($19/yr) with double the benefits offered on our site. Think of it: just for the email parsing part, other providers are charging $240/year - that's TWELVE TIMES more, yikes! Compare that to what you are getting from SMRT.casa, and the choice is clear.
Suddenly, your unruly Smart Home devices and services start playing nice with each other and, most importantly, with you - once you support this SMRT.casa Kickstarter!
Use SMRT.casa for easy, yet intelligent setup and control of your Smart Home, Garage, and Office.
Choose your pledge now to make this happen ASAP. Thanks! (check out this Kickstarter's special double benefits, too!)
Risks and challenges
25 years of experience in the interactive web design, with many projects commercially
delivered (not on Kickstarter.)
There is some risk of certain devices/services changing their settings and not being available
at all times. We will work on rectifying the issue if/when this happens.
Overall, your risk is low. The prototype system is already in use by us and some early adopters, successfully.
