About this project
The smaQQtalk PIVOT is an amazing new device unlike anything you have seen before. It's a foot controller that can be used with any application on a PC or Mac. It does this by translating foot gestures into any keystroke of your choice.
Give your gaming an extra dimension by putting your feet in the fight. It's a fun way to perform in-game functions like kicking, turning, strafing, or any other action that you would enjoy moving from your hands to your feet.
The PIVOT comes with software that enables you to map three different foot gestures (pivot left, pivot right and tilt) to any three keystrokes or combination keystrokes (for example Ctrl-Alt-K or Cmd-K). This provides complete flexibility in how you want the PIVOT to interact with your application.
One of the most useful features of the PIVOT is the ability to map a foot gesture to Push-to-Talk within any voice communications program, such as Discord, Ventrilo, Teamspeak, etc. For example, mapping the tilting motion of the PIVOT to push-to-talk would keep you from having to hold a mouse button or keyboard key down while talking, thereby freeing up your fingers for more important tasks. This is extremely important in team based games where quick reactions mean the difference between victory and agonizing defeat.
A key feature of the PIVOT is that it translates foot gestures into keystrokes. This allows the PIVOT to work with any game or application that requires keyboard input. You get to decide the functions that you'd like to move from your hands to your feet by assigning the keystrokes of your choice to the three foot gestures pivot left, pivot right and tilt.
Although we're focusing on gaming for this Kickstarter campaign, the PIVOT user community will come up with limitless uses from editing videos in Adobe Premiere to providing alternative computer input for those with disabilities.
Every app on your computer can have its own PIVOT profile. Hence, foot gestures can trigger different functions depending on which app is currently active in the foreground.
The software that controls the PIVOT is called App Key-Mapper and it enables you to create, edit and delete profiles quickly and easily.
The PIVOT allows you to rest the entire weight of your leg on the non-slip rubber pad and the pad will still rotate freely. This is crucial when using any type of foot controller for an extended period of time. Other foot switches and controllers require you to either hold your foot in an uncomfortable position or strain your leg and foot muscles to activate.
Resting the ball of your foot on the rubber pad feels natural. Also, the amount of pivoting necessary to activate functions is completely programmable. You can use subtle pivoting motions or exaggerated motions, whichever you prefer and feels most comfortable.
Using the foot strap is completely optional. The strap is attached to the PIVOT with powerful magnets and is easily connected and removed. The strap is fully adjustable and comfortable whether you're barefoot or in boots.
The strap is placed loosely over your foot to make it easy to reposition the PIVOT when you move your leg. That way you never have to reach under your desk to move the PIVOT just because you want to change your sitting position.
Once our Kickstarter campaign has concluded, all backers will receive a fulfillment questionnaire requesting your shipping address and to choose which of the three computer interface options you prefer:
- Wired USB - If you prefer not to have to deal with batteries, this option may be ideal for you. The USB cable is 5' long and will reach most USB hubs, depending on how your computer is positioned.
- Wireless USB - If you prefer added mobility and not having another cable under your desk, the Wireless USB option is ideal. This PIVOT model includes a tiny USB Receiver that you plug into any available USB port within 15' of the PIVOT. A single AA battery (included) is used to power the PIVOT. To conserve battery power, the PIVOT will automatically go to sleep after a short period of non-use. The PIVOT also has an ON/OFF switch to conserve battery power when being transported.
- Bluetooth - This option is perfect if you'll be using the PIVOT with a Bluetooth enabled computer and you don't want to take up another USB port. This model of PIVOT communicates using the Bluetooth 3.0 protocol and has a Bluetooth pairing button to establish the connection. Just like the Wireless USB version, the Bluetooth model uses a single AA battery (included), it will go to sleep automatically and has an ON/OFF switch to conserve battery power.
- Adjustable Foot Strap Included - We took artistic liberty with the picture above and only show the foot strap on the Bluetooth version. Rest assured that all three models include the adjustable foot strap.
Don't worry about which to choose until after the campaign. If you order multiple PIVOT controllers, you'll be able to mix and match any of the three options. If you really can't decide, order all 3! :-)

Doug has over 30 years experience in personnel management, business accounting, warehouse operations and small business logistics. He specializes in assembling and leading teams to complete projects large and small on time and on budget. Doug is highly involved in the Paso Robles, CA community and has been elected to Presidencies on City Boards and Community Organizations.
Our trusted manufacturing partners need a minimum financial commitment from us to get started on a larger manufacturing run. In order to offer the PIVOT at a reasonable price, we need to build at least 1,000 units. This is why we have set our funding goal to $41,337. By hitting this funding goal, we are able to get price breaks on components, mechanicals and packaging that allow us to offer the PIVOT at a very attractive price.

We’re a team of designers, engineers, and operational experts. We understand what goes into making this product and we've done it in the past.
Based on experience, we anticipate being able to fulfill orders within 8-12 weeks, but we should note that forecasting demand is an inexact science. If order volumes exceed our expectations, it might take slightly longer to fulfill orders.
