SLIMLINE consists of two pieces that perfectly frame and fit on the front and back of the iPhone, providing access to all sides, buttons and portals of the phone. Lightweight, SLIMLINE will be available in black, white and a limited edition red. SLIMLINE is designed to provide “maximum protection with minimal dimension” to the phone and once on the market, will provide a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
SLIMLINE will be manufactured in the United States of the highest quality materials. The solid frame will be fabricated with durably flexible polycarbonate, while over molded with the shock absorbing polyurethane. Both materials are a perfect match to achieve the level of quality we demand of this product.
We have contracted highly skilled mold makers in the United States with every aspect of the product carefully thought out. Distribution will be executed through our distribution network already established from our cell phone accessory wholesale company that has been established for the past 18 months. Marketing costs have been factored in to increase as the product demand increases. This will provide a constant growth and scalability to the product.

As the generations of iPhones evolved, the cases on the other hand, did not. The iPhone 4 and 4s were an accumulation of all past experience and knowledge integrated in a fantastic design. Apple has a philosophy that if you are going to create great hardware you should also create the software so they work hand in hand. Protection of this beautiful piece of machinery, unfortunately, did not really fit into that business model. Nevertheless, Apple did create a good initiative with the bumper. Although, covering the design or masking the concept was a fundamental disapproval of founder Steve Jobs. The fact was that the bumper was different from all other case designs on the market, but was not what the company represented. One day as I was at the Apple store for a “genius bar” appointment, my bumper that was on my iPhone tore off. Frustrated and annoyed, I glanced down at the bumper and at my iphone 4s and the idea hit me. Two simple rings around the phone are all that was really needed to protect it. All the other extra elements were unnecessary. I began sketching the moment I arrived at my apartment. The next day while searching for someone to design a product based on my idea, I found a company located in Illinois. I spoke to them about the concept and sent them my initial drawings that I had sketched. This was around early July of 2012. After 1 week I received a quote for a 1, 2 and 4 cavity mold with production cost for 50,000 units. I was then informed that a cad file and specs of materials would be needed to provide an accurate estimate. I immediately jumped online looking for a product developer and found a local company in Miami, Florida. The next day I was at their office. This was July 30 2012. After reviewing their proposal and a few revisions later, we signed a contract and began working on the concept. From sketch to design to patent submission to initial prototype, the entire process took about 1 month. During this time I found a local manufacturer located in Dania Beach, Florida. Their quote was very close, but slightly less expensive, and they were local. During the process of going back and forth with the mold engineer about sizes and specs, my product developer went on vacation and would be unable to work on my project or make any modifications to the design until he returned. With the developer gone, I had no way to move forward or even make a new prototype. Having a “get it done” personality, I decided to contact 3d printing companies to find a way to at least print some prototypes of the product. The printing company was able to produce 3 sets of prototypes from the Solid Works cad file that was provided to me by my product developer. As I placed the prototypes on the phone, I could immediately see the frames did not fit. I could not believe my eyes. I began contacting other product developers, but unfortunately the product developer locked the file that was originally created and the cost to create a new design was going to cost almost the same amount as the original, so I did the next best thing….Having a video editing and special effects background, I jumped on the Internet and found one of the main distributors for Solid Works in Florida. They provided me with a 30-day free trial of the software and I was invited to sit in on a beginners class. I soaked in as much knowledge as possible in that one week. By the end of that week not only did I develop Slimline for the iPhone 4, but with the iPhone 5 release just weeks away, I designed that model as well. While attending the course, I met many great people who gave me advice along with many contacts of the best-qualified companies in the industry. I contacted a company that was regarded as one of the most reputable in the mold making industry and drove 3-½ hrs to Cocoa, Florida to meet with them. They provided me with solutions that were never previously suggested. I was given a quote for manufacturing the Slimline and a quote for 1, 2 and 4-cavity molds. They then went ahead and offered a short run mold that would facilitate any short run productions such as the one for kickstarter if I chose to begin on a smaller scale. The differences in the molds were the materials they were made of. A short run mold was made of aluminum, while the high run mold was made with steel. During the process of developing a manufacturing solution, we were also working very hard on product image, marketing, packaging, PR, advertising and social media outreach. Our Slimline family grew from one small idea to a synergy of creative minds. My business partner and good friend Gaetan, will be heading distribution and customer relations. Our marketing will be spearheaded by my old friend Ralph Dupoux, who is also my business partner in EM-LAB,llc. Prato Productions developed video editing and photography for media production. My good friend Reginald Leger provided the cinematography while Gaetan and the MKSHFT council created soundtracks for all media aspects of the project. Ivan Arias, also part of our list of great friends, developed our social media. RM2projects created our website based on EM-LAB's design layout. Administration was lead by my amazing fiancée Gaby. We have an amazing group of friends that we consider family. Having the option of starting small, we are going to develop this product from the ground up, but still need to raise the initial funding regardless of any size scale model we decide to initiate. We believe this is going to become a standard for iphone protection the day it hits the market and cannot wait to begin production on this cool product.
Risks and challenges
By contracting the most qualified and skilled mold makers in the United States, we tried our best to think of all possible obstacles prior to engaging a final mold concept. As with all molds, tweeks and mistakes take time to correct. We are aiming to begin production mid December, which leaves very little time to correct errors.
We are very aware of the difficulties of mass distribution, but feel very confident that our already established network will provide all the expertise needed to achieve our goal of excellence.

Slimline is a one of a kind protection for your iPhone. It is simply the slimmest protection out there as it does not cover any main components of the phone. You get the full experience of the phone and feels like there is nothing on it. All bumpers and cases on the other end cover the mid section of the phone, and cases cover the back too, which adds to the phone's size and weight. Our goal was to design the slimmest protection out there by covering the phone as little as possible.
