I put a claim to my bank for a company inability to produce a purchase in accordance with their respective timeline. My bank/credit card did not feel like 6 months was too long. I provided some messages from SlideNjoy and how they fail to return my message or answer questions in a timely manner. Also, Bill Varhol provided some more documents. We should not be treated like this as backers.
@Luis Rivas can you provide some clarity around how you went about getting your money back from your credit card company please? I had a personal message saying I'm not getting a refund so your experi Vegas with the bank would be very helpful. Thanks.
Can you at least provide the page of your own answers to all the questions that were put to the baliff? We can at least read those answers while waiting for the baliff's report to confirm them. There are questions in that list that were asked last year and still haven't been answered.
To everyone:
Sorry if it wasn't clear, what I meant when saying Laurent has been injured and that we've been off the hook because of this reason, is because we had things to take care of for his health. We always told us Slidenjoy was more than a working team, we're friends on top of that, and when one of your friends is seriously injured and at the hospital, you try to support him. Our engineering team was still fully working on the project, that's not related, and won't cause any delays, except for the video: we couldn't go to their offices to record it. They've sent us the prototype, we'll record the video as soon as we got it.
Regarding the bailiff, we would LOVE to post the report, we haven't received it either, despite our emails and calls to M. Bordet. Same as the video, I can't post it if I don't have it... But will do as soon as possible!
PS for Aaron: The bailiff was an idea we had to reassure everyone about the viability of the product.
Regarding the ones that want to meet us, why not? Send a private message and we'll try to arrange something. Of course we can't receive each one of you. But feel free to ask to come meeting us!
We can see you're getting impatient, don't believe we aren't. We want this product on the market at least as much as you do. And we still expect it to be by the end of the year.
@Dear IIIan, I would like to thank you for your feedback. There is no disrespect for the non French speaking backers when I write in French.
It is because that French is one of the official languages in Belgium and the company in question is in the French speaking area.
Personally speaking, the reason that I write in French is because that the company does not seem to respond to our questions frequently and I think that might have something to do with the "language barrier", so that is it.
I was asking the company to show us the report from the baillif as soon as possible and if they cannot deliver before the end of this year, please let us know.
I hope that they would be able to show us tangible evidences about the development of the screens and NOT to miss the delivery deadline again.... surely not to take the mickey out of us AGAIN.
It's pretty much though how we've been feeling since the deadline has been moved numerous times. This project has never been on track as you have put it. Paid for it to be here last Christmas. Very much doubt it will be here for this Christmas. I'd much prefer a refund than all this waiting. It's getting tedious. I might not even have a damn laptop by the time it comes around so it will be a completely pointless purchase.
Well, too bad for the injury, but I don't see the link between this personal case and the projet. As he said you are 3 core members and a lot of people are working on this project, so this is not an acceptable excuse to postpone what should be done.
I'm really serious, now we need proofs that you can deliver for November without compromises. Should I recall you that you have less than 2 months to achieve the Slidenjoy, make it produced and give us what we paid for?
I can't wait go get my hands on this PERFECT product...
That isnt a prototype, that's a mockup (two actually), proof of concept, whatever you want to call it but not prototype, thats a much earlier step than a prototype.
The new "first prototype" is something like that as well? (just a few matryoshka you can move around and a couple of lcd screens glued together)
We would like to explain why we've been "off the hook" this week. Laurent has been mugged on Saturday night and he's now at the hospital. His injuries are quite serious.
That's why we've been a bit distracted this week.
Please be respectful and patient. Hopefully next week everything will be better, we'll be able to meet the engineering team, record the video of the prototype which is in their hands (and they're still working hard), and post the report of the bailiff.
Beginning of the delivery is still planned for November.
For all parties interested: Your credit card companies can help you get your refund as long as you provide some information. Got my refund within 6 weeks of asking for it through my Credit Card company based on the lack of professionalism and inability to deliver the product as expected.
This is to sad to comment, anymore. Kickstarter is all about doing things together and bringing creativity to live.
@Creators: I have no need for the screen anymore. As you refuse to refund, I would love to see my money put to a good cause after all. Please donate whatever remains (should be a lot, as you claimed to have a prototype already in jan 2015) to girlswhocode.com or a similar NPO.
Lets turn this broken project into something positive and beautiful in the end
It's completely asinine to ask for the confirmation of a November 1st shipping date. It's a complete impossibility - I don't care what kind of rainbow they try to paint with their words - it is absolutely impossible.
They need to:
1) Verify prototype - given how long it took to DESIGN the prototype I see this taking at least a month to do properly.
2) Procure volume parts - This commonly takes 6+ weeks to secure electronics parts in mass
3) Find a manufacturing partner - Haven't heard anything about this whatsoever. I imagine they have no/few plans for this
4) Set up mechanical volume manufacturing
5) Do a pilot run to ensure the manufacturing process is working well.
6) Actually do volume manufacturing and ship
Given that the team appears to have absolutely zero engineering experience and is relying on others to do literally all the work other than marketing and the original idea (which has already been compromised from the small unique aspect it had as it now requires the kickstand), I give this maybe Q2 of 2017 to see the light of day if it honestly ever does.
Regardless of how many smiley faces you put in a paragraph, this is the truth.
@Creator --- If the shipment and receipt of a prototype is off/delayed by almost one month --- August 6 to Sept 2, how can you be so sure that shipping will begin November 1, 2016?
We agreed to give you ability to kickstart this project, that's right.
But seeing how you LIED in your campaign, (you were supposed to have your first prototype on January 2015, 6 months BEFORE starting the campaign, for example) I'm pretty sure European consumer laws allow us to ask and get a full refund.
Anyway, as I said, for me is not worth it to enter a lawsuit war (I don't have the time, money nor knowledge for it) but I'm trying to spread the news about how you are behaving and selling plain BULLSHIT to your earliest supported.
You cannot afford to give us back the backed amount? That's kind of STUPID from your side from a selling point of view. I'm pretty sure my comments on your press releases, website reviews and private messages to people interested in your product are worth more than my backed amount.
I can't wait to receive my product on November, I'm very excited knowing it will be beyond all my expectations.
We've received the prototype - it's in the hands of our engineering team at the moment. We'll meet with them next week and will record the video. That should be the proof you need to see the project is viable and progressing.
We're still waiting for the report from the bailiff: we've made the payment he required yesterday, so we should also receive it next week.
Regarding the refund process, we don't offer any refund. When you've pledged for our campaign, you gave us the ability to begin our R&D - and part of the money of each one of our backers has been used. It's not that we ran out of money, but we can't begin to refund anyone asking. We're truly sorry about the delay, but once again we're confident the product will be beyond your expectations.
Please be a little more patient, it will be rewarded.
Dear Slidenjoy Team,
despite improvements in communication frequency, I see no improvements in depth of information. As previous commenters have outlined, (1) you have, again, not met your deadlines for project milestone, (2) there is no reliable, public proof of the project progress (a few hundred comments before, backers have valuable advise on professional project management).
Therefore, I am asking again: Please let me know the refund process.
Please in the comments, not as private message, as other backers seem to be interested in the same question.
Shipping announced and confirmed in november, right? Today 1st of november, still no official document/detailed report from the bailiff, no showing of the prototype.. this project is still SECRET regardless time passing and backers worrying.
Dear Team, I do hope everything is fine on your side. You got back the trust of the community, which won't allow you to lie and delay one more time... Better get everything ready guys :)
Would be nice to see ANY type of progress on the prototypes. Electrical CAD drawings (Gerbers), mechanical drawings, absolutely anything. If you're this close to a prototype all of that information should be easily available and a trivial amount of time to publish while not giving away any "trade secrets". The "Hub" shown in the Balliff update is laughably simple and does not really give any confidence.
Slidenjoy, Are you still maintaining that 'everything is on schedule' despite the three week delay in receiving the pre-production prototype? This does seem very naive - one would normally expect to make final adjustments to the pre-production prototype before commencing manufacture, so how can it be that there is no impact on shipping date? Please can you clarify...
Regarding the Single version of the Slidenjoy, the production will be maintained for the ones who already ordered. We don't take pre-orders anymore, though.
Regarding the report from the bailiff: I've emailed him since I've no return from him (weird, as it said he'll send me the report last week). Keep you in touch!
Regarding the prototype: We'll receive it this week and will post a video as soon as possible. We know you're getting impatient (and that's the least we can say) and that's perfectly understandable, of course. But once again, we would like to reassure you regarding the deadline we've announced.
Quote @creator:
To be entirely honest with you, we were hoping to receive the latest (and last) prototype before Friday, when we launched the invitations for this "event". Unfortunately we haven't yet.
So there is a delay since August 6th...
I think you should rename your product to No man's enjoy

So when someone of your team is in the hospital (I'm sorry about him and hope he will recover soon) a big chunk of the company takes a whole week out?
To be in the hospital? the whole week? you didn't even give some free time to spend with his family?
