Frequently Asked Questions
No, we will not be allowing $1 backers to upgrade into the other campaign levels. We need the support now to get the most out of the campaign and not just $1 pledges for later unfortunately.
We don't have a $1 pledge level and would rather backers back for the full game than just $1. If you back for $1 you will NOT be able to get the game in the post campaign survey process. Please consider backing for the game now, it will help us make the right number of copies and help us unlock more stretch goals too!Last updated:
Wait a second, this is only a $5,000 funding goal and you are delivering a $35 game in May 2020? That seems really low and unrealistic to me, what is going on here?
Yes, we are getting a lot of people asking that. First, this is my third project with Imperial Publishing but our first game. Yes that sounds like we are inexperienced, but I am also the owner of Mayday Games and have personally overseen 45 prior successful projects dating back to late 2011. You can see a list of all these prior projects, how much support they had and if they were late or early here:
So what about this $5,000 goal? That is just what we put on all our projects to ensure there is enough demand to create the game. In fact I have already paid the factory a 50% deposit toward the production of these games personally and the files are 95% ready for the factory. Here is our expected timeline for making the game:
1) Late December the kickstarter campaign finishes up.
2) By mid-January we expect to have the final files to the factory, remember they are 95% ready so we just need to make minor adjustments for stretch rewards, the rulebook and base game are DONE already.
3) We expect the factory to produce these in February/March after Chinese New Years.
4) Ship out late March to arrive in port in late April 2020.
5) Ship all rewards in May.
This time schedule actually allows for 2.5 months for production from mid-January to late March as Chinese New Year is in January, but we expect production to only take 3 weeks and we also have another month of built in lead time in the shipping too. I believe we could deliver these in April pretty easily, but May is very safe! We plan on making the official release of this game at Origins 2020 in June after all the rewards are fulfilled.
Yes this isn't our first game by any means and we already have factory quotes and a deposit down and the files are nearly ready.
We know this seems too good to be true in many ways, but we have priced everything out and know what it takes to deliver. Put your trust in us and we promise you will not be disappointed. We have two more games in the works for early next year and plan to put out some really excellent games in the years to come!Last updated:
Wait, I thought the limited edition was 2,000 copies? Now it is 2,500? What is going on with the number of "limited edition" changing?
Great question comrade! This is our first game ever on Kickstarter and while we could have started with 3,500 copies of the limited edition game being available as we hoped for, putting a "limited" edition with such a high number of copies when we first launched seemed pretty ostentatious and would really send a message to backers that we have a nearly unlimited supply of this game to produce. In reality we COULD do 5,000 copies of limited edition if we had to, all for May fulfillment. The factory we are using has the capacity to make as many as we want.
But we will ONLY be making enough to fulfill this campaign rounded up to the nearest 500 copies so we won't have a bunch of extra copies of the Limited Edition floating around after the campaign and won't ever be printing this version again, so we are trying to keep the number of "available" Limited Edition copies to less than 500 at any one time on the campaign.
Call it marketing and a perception of scarcity that is perhaps not entirely accurate if you want, we prefer to think of it as the Central Committee's 5-year Plan For Our Glorious Game that is cumbersome and inaccurate. Either way though, we will NOT be running out of copies here on the Kickstarter and we won't be selling these limited exclusive Deluxe versions through retail. If you want this version, this is the best way to get it!Last updated:
The game will be 11.73 X 8.78 X 1.97 inches in dimension, so it is wide/tall enough for Zen Bins and yes if will accommodate sleeved cards no problem!Last updated:
yes we are working on a single player mode, but we need to give the designer of the game time to develop it and play-test it before we announce it. We HOPE to be able to offer a single-player mode of the game before the campaign is over and will certainly announce that as soon as we can, but it isn't guaranteed (yet). Please be patient with us and know that we are working hard on this project daily!Last updated:
Wait a second, you state that you have the USA/North American English rights only, yet you are shipping worldwide and advertising as EU friendly, what is that all about? You can't do that can you?
We have reached out to Artem Baranov from Lifestyle who sent us this statement to post to all of you regarding this matter:
"Yes, you are in fact able to ship to backers from other countries in the scope of this KS campaign. Once the campaign is over, it will not be the case. And that we do actually have plans for official localizations in other languages for 2020." -Artem Baranov, Lifestyle Board Games, Dec 10, 2019
So to summarize, we are ONLY able to offer international/worldwide shipping for this campaign, we will not be shipping copies internationally once this campaign is fulfilled. Yes you can back from inside the EU/Canada/Australia and your rewards will be VAT/Customs/Duty free as we will ship from our partners within those regions.Last updated:
I am in the EU and want to get a group buy for more than 4 copies, is that possible and what would it cost?
You can pledge for 4 copies of the game as noted on the project and can even double or triple your pledge for 8 or 12 copies. It is $130 for 4 copies on the main page but we can offer you $250 for 8 copies or $360 for 12 copies.
The shipping is $40 to the EU for 4 copies, but it would be $70 for 8 copies or $100 shipping for 12 copies. If you want 12 copies.
Please back for the 4-pack and pledge the appropriate amount with shipping if you want ($170 for 4 copies including shipping, $320 for 8 copies or $460 for 12 copies). That works out to a delivered price per copy of $42.50 @ 4 copies, $40 @ 8 copies or $38.33 @ 12 copies.
Trying hard to get you the best prices we can but shipping to the EU is expensive, especially when we have to import it and pay the VAT!Last updated:
There have been several campaigns that became involved with Golden Bell either during or after the campaign ended, is this campaign in any way associated with Golden Bell?
We have been asked this several times so we decided to put it in the FAQ. NO, there is not now nor will there ever be anything involving Golden Bell in this or any of our other campaigns. We have zero association with Golden Bell.Last updated:
