Sleev - The all new wire protector (Canceled)
Sleev protects wires against damage caused by every day use. Say good-bye to broken chargers.
No tape, no springs, no mess.
Most of us use our chargers everyday. Each time we use our charger we decrease it’s strength at the stress point. Within one year, each individual uses their charger at least 712 times, causing it to wear down in one specific area. Let Sleev strengthen your charger and increase it's life span.
A normal charger goes directly from a rigid surface, the connector, to an incredibly soft surface, which causes a stress point on the wire. Any bending at this point of the cable often causes rips and tears because the wire cannot withstand the tension. Sleev encapsulates the stress point in rubber and then is secured with a polycarbonate clip. Sleev is designed to create a transition zone from the connector to the wire. We achieve this by using a coil-like design in combination with a rubber material to alleviate the tension and stress from the wire and transfer it to Sleev.
While other solutions exist, they do not completely solve the problem. They simply postpone the inevitable, by offering an temporary solution.
Creating a plastic and rubber product requires large investments for mold and tooling fees. Our goal for the Kickstarter campaign is to raise money to cover these fees, as well as funding for the final development of our product.
- June 2017: Final development completed, tooling has begun, Beta protectors are sent out.
- July 2017: Production begins mid-late July.
- August 2017: Shipment is sent to Canada. Quality assurance is done within Canada as well.
- September 2017: Products are sent to our Fulfillment company
- September/October 2017: Backers start receiving their Sleevs just in time for the fall!
Risks and challenges
We have designed products in the past and therefore we are confident we can meet our timeline.
Of course it is impossible to anticipate every scenario, thus we expect there could be possible delays, specifically in the formation of the mold. However we have allocated space within our timeline for this process.
From past experience, we have learned that shipping and fulfillment is difficult and we have therefore decided to work with a fulfillment company who is more than capable to process thousands of orders a day efficiently.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
